I was able to pick it up at my local Lego store for $287 and its available Lego online but back ordered. Prices else where I'm seeing around 400-600 bucks crazy high.
I also got it from the store and by chance. I was there and ask them if they have something with electroniks and they gave me this set. It was in the office and she said it is the last one. It was a lot of noney, but she say Take it you will be happy. And i will be for ever thankfull of this person :)
8:07 I must disagree with that remote control function has small lag. Yes, it works well....with pre defined programs. But when it comes to custom programs, no matter what you do, delay will be at least one second.
@@Unbrickme trust me, I tried many times to optimize this code as much as possible. For example I reduced the range of speed from -100 to 100, so it changes by 10, not by 1., did the same with the steering. I once tried making the program that sends signals to hub only when program detects that the slider was moved or button pressed. And I also tried to optimize it even further by limiting the speed only to go 100%, but then where the point of doing that? Isn't this the main advantage of using smart device as a remote control, that you can choose the speed or angle as you like? I could be better of just using pybricks and powered up train remote (which I did). So in my opinion mindstorms app is well polished, yes, but the streaming mode is just a bonus feature.
The hype is real for me. I will need to find where in my area I can purchase one. I hope I don't have to buy it online. The set cost 4x more than my phone (at the time of purchase) which is 5 years old already and has a tiny screen.
Hi Sariel, thanks for the review. Please note that you can program 51515 on a PC with a dedicated app which is much more convenient. BTW Spike Prime desktop app works as well. It is great because it offers a lot of courses for beginners.

It's super unfortunate that we're losing this, I must say. The good news is that you can use the Spike Prime Hub (which will continue to be sold) with the Robot Inventor software to match the capabilities of the outgoing Robot Inventor Hub. The colors will be much harder to work with (the Spike Prime Hub is bright yellow, which is an awful color for most Technic builds), however the functionality is identical.
I just cant stand the new lego color palette. Yes it is neutral but this is its problem. I woud prefer if they give us the chance to change the panels. Tile and yellow! TILE from all colors. Seriously?? I can change almost all parts, but the hub? Why lego, why? 😂😂
@@HydroWorldOutlookPrimary5769 this is not in my capabilities, but it is a good idea for developers. I woid like some studs on the hub. They stoped doing even that. And i have aome minifigs that follow and inapect all of my builds :)

Depends, optimized coding is key for minimizing controller delay

Yes the desktop app is much better and even had the debug mode which adds even more blocks and possibilities for programming
Thanks, I'll check it out when I have a minute.
So, is a tablet or decent phone needed to get everything working? Would you recommend this set or Spike Prime?
