The first theme is the "duet flower" of Lakmé an Leo Delibes"s Opera in an old version... (1939) Diko is really versatile... not only is he great at singing, acting, producing and so on, but he surrounds himself with super talented people and they are all in the credits. As an example, the girl who accompanies him (Polina) knows how to act (not like the one in Be with me!! ;-) This video has many influences, both from the English Hammer Studios films of the 60s, and from the classics "Dracula" and " Interview with the vampire." Hiya, Mr. Fisch! Cool reaction to a cool video! Something that I have a bit of an obsession with: Those octave unisons he puts in his studio recordings. "Finding my place; just a man in a man's world..." is a prime example; the melody SOUNDS lower than it actually is. (Kind of a lower tenor/high baritone range.) It's that LOWER octave unison (some real bass notes) that make the phrase so deep! We can speculate on how these are accomplished, I suppose. Namely, is it with the push of a button (octave doublers and harmony generators are everywhere)? Mmm, I prefer to think he just goes back through the track with his written score and throws those on in a total of about a half hour. 😉(Dimash is all about intentionality.) OR, since he scored the piece originally, he just says, "Let's go back to the start of that phrase and get the lower octave on there, quick-like and have done with it." All supposition mind you, but we can hear a very slight difference in the slide on the word "...place..." which leads me to believe he actually sings these, rather than using a device. ...It would be more fun for him, don't you think? Anyhoo, carry on; always another surprise around the next corner with Dimash at the wheel! 👍👍👍

Anyone who watched the video, made by a fan with his cell phone, of Dimash's show in Hong Kong, had the pleasure of a first contact with the song “When I've Got You” and realized, in Dimash's own music and in the lyrics by Candice Kelly and Dmytro Gordon, a romantic, seductive and passionate song sung with Dimash's own virtuosity. There was tension and anxiety in being able to watch the studio version with better sound quality...
Now, with the release of this music video, we realize how creative Dimash is:
A suspense video with a “noir” atmosphere, but without being located in the past, and a tale of passion about a supernatural creature who feels alone and needs to fulfill his passion for a mortal woman who suffers for wanting and not wanting turn her into one of his supernatural creatures.
Iskander Yerbolat's plot intrigues us to solve the mystery of the entire tale being a dream of a journalist who interviews “DQ”, or being a reality where the “vampire” did not bite his “prey” out of love! Intriguing...
The video is a show in itself: Desaturated with vivid red details (umbrella, blood in the hands, blood in the pool, advertising sign, neon on the mirror...), a classic Rolls Royce, a gloomy and modern mansion and lots of details.
As background music, he uses the work “Flower Duet” (Lakimé) by Léo Delibes. To create an old and suspenseful atmosphere, he does not use the 1968 edition and recording, by Joan Sutherland and Jane Berbié, but rather the original version from 1915, sung by Alexandrovna Mikhailova and Ivanovna Panina, recorded with a gramophone!
The music video is a story that pays homage to several classic dramas involving supernatural creatures and passion! He has many incredibly great music videos. The most of them are like mini-movies. And with that one he surprised us fans. Again. There he showed us a completely different side of himself. Not only is he a great (in my opinion the greatest) singer, but also an incredibly talented actor. He made a very convincing vampire. I love that. I love that genre a lot. I was so curious about this video and I think with that he has set the bar very high for his future music videos.
What a great song. A wide range again. Many of the reactors don’t realize it because it's not this obvious. Excellent riffs and runs. A really great guitar solo by Abik Jeksen. You can find it in the credits.. I think he had a lot of fun playing the seducer. It is now one of my favorite music videos. The funny thing is that I said this in his other MVs too😅

On February 26, 2024 in Istanbul, Dimash Qudaibergen presented a music video for a new work “When I’ve got you”. The premiere took place as part of a press conference held by the artist in connection with his upcoming solo concert in Turkiye.
The main idea of the clip belongs to Dimash and the MV’s director Galym Asylov: “A world-famous artist, who leads a very private lifestyle, decided to give his first open interview. The young journalist chosen by him goes to the meeting in great excitement, immensely worried and tormented by the question: “What if?…”. The woman’s vivid imagination suggests a mysterious image of the main character and plunges her into a mystical story.
“Everyone knows that Dimash is a kind and simple person. Not much is known about his personal life, he does not often appear in the media space and does not give particularly personal interviews. We wanted to present the artist from a slightly different side, in a “book”, fictionalized image”, - shared the director.
Galym Assylov and Zhanibek Gusmanov - the second director of the project and line producer say that the shooting process was very interesting, it took place in Almaty. A creative team of more than 70 people worked on the clip with the involvement of specialists from China. It was there that the costume of the main character was sewn and together with Kazakhstan specialists created the whole image of the artist.
The casting was not simple enough: many actresses and models were tried for the role of the main character and other characters. Three locations were used in the clip, and the search for ancient culture was not an easy task. In a creative atmosphere, a large international team tried to create a mysterious story in every element of the interior, in every detail of the costume, in every frame.
The composition itself was written by Dimash. The author of the lyrics was Candice Kelly. The co-writer of the lyrics, co-producer, orchestrator and arranger was Dmytro Gordon.
“Working with Dimash is a dream for many, and I felt extremely honored and privileged that he has entrusted me to work on this song with him. It felt like a great responsibility, as “When I’ve Got You” was a step into a new direction for Dimash as an artist, and it was also something different for his core audience. Dimash told me that for some time, he wanted a track on the verge of blues, jazz, rock, and r&b, and my suggestion was to make it sound fresh and edgy - something raw but beautiful, something truly unexpected. That has resulted in a blend of some heavy drums, electric guitars and piano together with the orchestra, synthesizers, harmonica, and even a choir. Hiya, Mr. Fisch! Cool reaction to a cool video! Something that I have a bit of an obsession with: Those octave unisons he puts in his studio recordings. "Finding my place; just a man in a man's world..." is a prime example; the melody SOUNDS lower than it actually is. (Kind of a lower tenor/high baritone range.) It's that LOWER octave unison (some real bass notes) that make the phrase so deep! We can speculate on how these are accomplished, I suppose. Namely, is it with the push of a button (octave doublers and harmony generators are everywhere)? Mmm, I prefer to think he just goes back through the track with his written score and throws those on in a total of about a half hour. 😉(Dimash is all about intentionality.) OR, since he scored the piece originally, he just says, "Let's go back to the start of that phrase and get the lower octave on there, quick-like and have done with it." All supposition mind you, but we can hear a very slight difference in the slide on the word "...place..." which leads me to believe he actually sings these, rather than using a device. ...It would be more fun for him, don't you think? Anyhoo, carry on; always another surprise around the next corner with Dimash at the wheel! 👍👍👍

Yes.. while riding to the interview, the journalist dreams that DQ is a vampire (which at that point she doesn't know) and then in her dream she fantasizes that she can bring him back to life with her love.
There is a lesson here for all of us. Dimash chose to sing these lyrics. They are very specific. Read every line that he sings very carefully.. right from the beginning.. as if you were society yourself singing... and you will discover the true meaning!
