The GIVEAWAY for the Kaleidoscope deck (& more) will be on my next LIVE stream, which will be 12/27 (I'd planned to do it today but spent my day at the doctor and so I couldn't do the stream.) I hope y'all will accept my raincheck and I'll see ya next week. Happy holidays!
I remember buying that trick at spot light magic and costume in Tulsa Ok back in the 90, Thanks for the vid Doug ! Memories from the corner of my mind lol
I love the part where you tell history and lore surrounding these effects. That's a working knowledge I don't have in my brain like you do but, am working on it.
Since I am in New Orleans on vacation Doug handed me a set of these beautiful cards last night. Performed the effect on my wife this morning and it was Great. Thank You Mr. Conn!
I've always loved tricks that end up with "and all the cards had different back" like spin doctor from john bannon. Having the opposite effect occur ("of all the different backs, you got the same, AND they're the same card") is a great twist!!
Received my Kaleidoscope deck this morning, 19/50. Can't wait to give it a run! Thanks again Doug for such an affordable and beautiful trick deck! Merry Christmas!
Excellent video and content as always, Mr. Conn. Thank you for all that you provide us fellow striving magi. And I can't imagine how much work those kaleidoscope decks took!
Thanks for assembling the Kaleidoscope decks, Doug. Those puppies are hard to find these days, especially in the one-way format. Great tutorials, too, as always! Have always loved Twin Souls and Gemini Twins.
I love this deck and I’m super excited to get it. Thank you for all you do for magic. This is a lot of fun and you make it fun. I love your upbeat and fun presentation.
Beautiful, Sir. So simple. So effective. I always felt the Fulves' self-working series could've been compiled into one hardback volume. Have a cool yule and a groovy new year.
Hi Doug, thank you for the historical insights to this effect. At first, I came across that principle with a deck of cards called "Botania Deck", showing various types of flowers. It is a nice variation, because it leads away from the trick being an effect with playing cards. Happy holidays! 🎅
Hi Doug, I am very grateful to you for the idea of the Double deal! That`s an fantasic add-on! 👍I really love the Gemini Card effect. It's so easy to do but you get great reactions! Every spectator assumes that they have figured out the trick and that the entire deck consists of the same cards ... but then comes the kicker ending 🤗I have the deck with Rainbow Casino backs with 4 kings and the rest of the cards are all jokers! I'm very happy about it because, together with 'What happens in Vegas' and `Jokerz by Peter Nardi` it fits perfectly with the theme of a casino routine.
This is one of my favourite effects! So many great moments. I currently use blank cards at the end but love the matching numbers idea. Also known as "rainbow deck" and "frankendeck" I believe?
I’ve watched magic shows for the better part of 40 years and to this day nothing thrills me more than a good magic act… when it’s really good, the secrets are irrelevant.
There are some great subtleties shared in this video. Thanks, Doug. When you mention "Twin Souls" by Al Baker, are you referring to the first trick in The Encyclopedia of Card Tricks? It's a great routine, but the effect and method are very different to Kaleidoscope Cards. It uses a standard key card placement and the one ahead principle to achieve a very deceptive two-card prediction (written on two scraps of paper).
I think Baker's trick influenced Fulves handling (or I perhaps I just imagined reading this?) methinks we can see roots in one from another & maybe the 'Twins' in Fulves' titling harkens to Baker's creation... but hey... I could be wrong : ). *wouldn't be the first time and this crediting was just a stream of conscious for the most part
@@DougConn You may well be right about this influencing Karl Fulves’ handling because the two tricks share strong similarities in method. I’ve just looked up “Locatrik”, and it is very similar to Baker’s “Twin Souls” (more so than “Gemini Twins”). Karl himself admitted that the origin of the placement principle was unclear. I’d be amazed if it isn’t published somewhere in the early conjuring literature, maybe in a French or German book. Karl later mentioned that Herb Rungie’s “Hidden Mystery” (also from The Jinx, No. 83) was almost certainly the starting point for “Gemini Twins”. So it sounds like even Karl couldn’t remember what inspired him! FYI, Nick Trost also released this trick as “Rainbow Miracle” in 1983. I’m unsure if this pre-dates Daryl’s “Kaleidoscope Cards”, but it suggests that Nick might have been the first to apply this placement principle to a rainbow deck.
So happy I got one of these. My only question is how would you do both the 2 card twinsouls and follow that up with the individual cross cut bit? Is this possible without resetting?

Love that you talk history of these tricks not just the tutorial.
Seems like the right way about this :) thanks for the positivity
Thanks Doug. After 65 years I am beginning to learn card magic. Your channel is a tremendous help and I am grateful for all that you do for us.

Agreed!! Happy Holidays!
Wow! I actually learn how to do this a lot earlier before I watched this video but amazing tutorial.
Good stuff. I like how even when you do the easy self-workers, you still teach the history & a few extra touches to polish it up some.
❤️🤘❤️
Fantastic effort and way to upcycle❤🎉
Would love to have this wonderful deck! Nice tutorial, but the way.

What a creative way to repurpose 52 standard decks of cards into 52 packs of trick cards. I went ahead and got two of Doug's custom sets myself.
Thank ya Jake!

Always astonishes me that I still enjoy the performance even after the method has been demonstrated. Maybe that’s down to the performer though.
I’ve watched magic shows for the better part of 40 years and to this day nothing thrills me more than a good magic act… when it’s really good, the secrets are irrelevant.
Awesome effect and awesome tips, thanks!
Like the new approaches to old tricks.
