    I've been riding Vulcans since 2007. I had a 1500 Classic for 6 years (60,000 miles), a 1600 Nomad for 10 years (33,000), and I'm now on a 1,600 Classic. And I've spent a lot of time on Vulcan forums. Here's my 2 cents. The Vulcan 900 dupes a lot of guys. It has a big frame, so they get on it and think it's a big bike. They buy it and within a few weeks they're on the forums complaining about the power. It's a 900, and it has the power of a 900. And changing pulleys and adding an air kit is not going to turn it into a 1500. On the freeway they are revving so high you can hear them coming a mile away. Don't believe anyone who tells you they are "freeway worthy." No 900 V-Twin is meant to be cruising at 75 mph for hours at a time. It's a good beginner's bike; ride it for a year, build up your skills, and if you want to tour, then trade up. Again, just my 2 cents.

    I've owned many motorcycles through the years and currently own a HArley Tri-Glide due to my wife's many health issues. The Kawasaki Vulcan 900's are a great motorcycle. Just the right size with plenty of power and very confortable. I'd own one today if my wife could ride a two wheeler, but we have to have a trilke for now. Thanks for sharing.

      Thanks sharing, I agree the Vulcan 900 is a great motorcycle and loved when on the back roads. Wish I held on to it for a second motorcycle but was worried it would just sit. Been on the HD Road King 2 years now and very happy. But that Vulcan helped me as a re-entry rider.
      Take care!

    Let me help you live longer. The "right on red law" is, more accurately, the Right Turn On Red After Stop law. One of the most common accidents to motorcycles is after the motorcyclist turns red without stopping. You're welcome. (I'm an old truck trainer AND a motorcyclist. It's one of the most common truck accidents, too. The only difference is that the truck usually wins. The motorcyle almost never does.) I appreciate this review; I've wanted one of the 900's for many years, but it hasn't happened, yet.

    Bar end weights help with that buzz a lot. Also my vtx 1300 will buzz at 65-70 but 75+ it seems to smooth out so rpm has something to do with it.

    When I finally shift into 5th gear I'm doing about 65-70 mph. It's all about shift points and hearing the motor revving kind of high just not too high. Around 85 mine starts buzzing, the handle bars wobble a bit and I think I need to tighten the tree nut or redo the bearings. Other than that it's a solid bike and many sleep on it. Love my custom 900 that I am steadily upgrading with parts.

I can feel it on the floorboards and my gf said she felt it on the pegs as well. A windshield would be great for the wind, but I would only do it for a long ride. It's great to hear you're considering your options for a potential upgrade. The Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Classic LT is definitely a step up in terms of size and power compared to the Honda Shadow Phantom 750, but it's also important to consider how comfortable you feel with a bigger bike. I'd recommend taking the Vulcan for a test drive to see how it feels for you personally. Additionally, if you haven't already, it might be beneficial to take some safety courses to help build your confidence with larger motorcycles. Best of luck with your decision, and thanks for the thumbs-up!

    I impulse bought my Vulcan 900 back in 2008 when gas was getting over $5 a gallon. I wish I had gotten the Nomad 1700 with the sixth overdrive gear instead. The cost was mere chump change between the two back then. Gas was high and the 900cc's and lower were priced like they were made of gold. Nobody wanted the bigger bikes at the time. It wasn't long after that gas had dropped to normal and I then had buyers remorse. The Nomad 1700 rides like the 900 with five gears in the city, but rides like a Harley on the highway in sixth. I really wish I had done my research first before pulling the trigger back then. Been too poor since then to get anything better. I will say though, those Vulcan 900's are practically bullet proof and just run and run and run.

    • @CageFreeMoto
      @CageFreeMoto  Год назад

      Yep, the 900 id solid and world as designed. The 900 was my re-entry motorcycle and rode it while I had a permit. once I received my license and allowed on freeways I knew I needed something bigger or the 6th gear. I looked at the Kawasaki Vaquero and it looked nice. But maybe I was not ready for that size and passed on it.
      The Nomad is nice and looks like a Road King. I hope things work out where you are able to get one. That said, like you said the Vulcan 900’s are practically bulletproof.

      Buy & install a barons 2 teeth larger steel drive pulley got the 900 Vulcan to reduce cruise rpm a bit.
      It cost approx $200 ft or the pulley & clutch cover gasket & 1.5-2hrs to install.
      Post install of the Barton’s 2 teeth larger drive pulley it cruses approx 5mph faster ,for example,it now cruises at same rpm at 65mph it used to cruise at 60 mph with stock 2 teeth smaller drive pulley.
      You can also install a 2 tooth smaller Barton’s rear wheel pulley to further reduce cruise rpm.
      When you upgrade to the pulleys stated above the bike will now cruise at 68-70mph at the same rpm it used to cruise at 60mph with no pulley upgrade which is a significant reduction in rpm @ higher cruise speed,can install new rear drive pulley at next rear tire change.
      Can also install a slightly higher profile tire to slightly reduce cruise a tad more too but doing that (maybe rear pulpy too) might require snapping to a diff size/length drive belt too.
      But doing just the 2 pulley upgrade will cost approx $400-500 & increase open road cruise speed approx 8-10mph in high gear/the vs with stock pulley setup which is a great alternative to buying a new bike for a 6th gear to lower cruise rpm.

    • @CageFreeMoto
      @CageFreeMoto  3 года назад +1

      The Vulcan 900 Classic does not have an RPM gauge. That said, I never used the RPM gauge to change gears as you can tell based on listening the engine and feeling how the performance is of the vehicle. That said, I am breaking in a new engine now and the manual says do not go over 3500 RPMs during the break in period. Due to that I have been paying good attention to the RPM gauge.
      On this video it would have been nice to have the RPM gauge so I can see if maybe I am off in terms of when I switch gears or if I am pushing it to the red. But have learned that the vibrations is part of this Motorcycle . So, once I accept that, I was good.

      I don't. They're nice to have, but I listen and feel my bikes and cars. 😂. If you can't feel it you shouldn't drive a manual.

    No interest in a 600lb bike with 50hp. My Victory's are the same weight and have double the horses with 6 speeds. Same price range.
