Anybody who interviews Earl in the future, respectfully, just watch a couple of his past interviews beforehand cus y’all seem to get hung up for at least 30min on the same Samoa/Doris/OF topics every time. Maybe focus on the music and stuff since then. Considering it’s been a decade plus. He has said all he can say on it. It’s journalistically lazy at this point.
I was thinking the same thing like in almost every other Earl interview they seem to wanna get him to repeat exactly what he’s been saying for the past 10 years lmfao
Yeah I agree, for the people that enjoy and are interested in his more recent escapades, u sorta go tone deaf to the same questions reiterated but ultimately have respect for the answers given. Like was previously mentioned, just kinda low hanging fruit journalist wise, but props still
Yea, idk Marcus might be an older cat and not too tapped into west coast music or understood the magnitude of the OF movement. All I can say is, this is good practice for him. It seems he just kinda started pursuing this passion a few years ago.
Some of these questions are lack luster, but it’s great to see a more mature Earl answer them. Some responses may be similar than what he’s shared before but his delivery is different and he always add more details to stories he’s told before. It seems like Marcus and Earl don’t have much chemistry. Earle’s style of hip hop may just be out of his element. NGL im a music journalist too and life long hip hop fan. Experimental hip hop is completely out of my league. Writing about it doesn’t come easy to me. It’s a skill I have to develop. This interview will be a good learning tool for Marcus. It seems like he just started pursuing this passion seriously, so he’s learning too as an interviewer and writer.
I love earl bc his music seems so serious but he says shit like “this was supposed to be the greatest summer ever, forever..”
I feel like I just found some crazy vhs or something. I've been looking for this interview for a while now and here it is. Thank you for sharing!

Earl is like a really nice classic car. He may not start right away or accelerate very fast, but once he gets going, it's a smooth smooth ride.
