Hyprland has a steep learning curve for users with limited technical experience, but your install script and extensive configuration makes the process of setting hyprland up so easy. I never thought I'd have hyprland looking so amazing on my desktop. Your dotfiles are so well-organized and logical and offer a perfect starting base for new and experienced users alike. Thanka a lot, Stephan. Really nice features 👏👏I will upgrade to the new version soon. If I want to keep the File Manager as "Thunar" instead of "Nautilus," which conf files need to be changed? Please advise 🙏
Hands down the easiest Hyprland install. The updates are really nice. I would love to see a feature added to the screen shader that lets you set a time to auto turn it on/off. Even better if it would slowly fade in and out with sun set/rise.
You can set the shader to off and create your own configuration to define your time frame. Let’s see which features are coming to Hyprshader in the future.

I never seem to be able to get past being stuck on a black screen with a cursor right after booting into arch, resulting in me having to reinstall the whole system and start from scratch again. You recommended to check the hyprland nvidia guide which I did, since my ThinkPad T480 has an MX150 but to no avail, still black screen with a cursor. So I figured I'd try installing the dotfiles on my T460 which does not have an nvidia dGPU and the result was the same, black screen with cursor. I'm installing arch with 'archinstall' autoinstaller → ext4, KDE, sddm, I've tried both systemd and grub bootloaders. And when I run the script and install everything as recommended in the video (with the exception of not choosing VM, and choosing laptop config), I get the freakin black screen with cursor every time. Am I just dumb?
First of all, thanks for testing and sending your feedback. Some possible tests... Can you try to start a terminal with Super + Return? What's your display manager? Can you try to start Hyprland from tty?

Stephan, I actually learned about Hyprland a lot thanks to your scripts and dotfiles! Unfortunately, I have one open question: how can I configure system-wide proxy on Hyprland? I literally went through a ton of documentation and I still can't configure it. When I use network manager and I try to set up proxy for my wireless connection - I only have Automatic and None there. I tried nmtui - there are no proxy settings there. My GUI client nekoray stopped working with Wayland somehow and even when it's worked earlier - it connects to server but then nothing happens, looks like it won't pass the proxy system-wide. So the only way to solve that situations - is to set up proxy manually I guess and I have no idea how to do this.

After reboot , just a black screen and cursor. Using a Thinkpad T470 and never had a problem like this.
Do you have an Nvidia GPU?
@@mylinuxforwork No, just CPU . It's a Thinkpad. Can login from tty only with Hyprland it won't login from sddm.
@@legatto so, tty login works but sddm not?

You can use the shipped .bashrc file or just add the command fastfetch at the end of your .bashrc file.
@@mylinuxforwork thankyou

Hoe to fix lock screen in black..?
Does setting up a wallpaper works? Is imagemagick installed?
Hello. Can you update your qtile version too please? Tks a lot
Hi. Thanks for your feedback. Due to my limited time, I had to focus on one Window Manager in the last months. But I will keep on testing every version on Qtile as well.
@@mylinuxforwork I think last version of qtile broke some configs. I'd be glad to know if yours works and use it. Tks again.
Is this user interface. Based on gnome
No. It's Hyprland. The ML4W Apps are based on Libadwaita/GTK4.
How do i change my wallpaper to a one of my own is it possible?
You can select your wallpaper folder in the waypaper app or you can copy your wallpapers into the folder wallpaper.
@@mylinuxforwork thank you, I figured it out 🤣
Now struggling to find where I can disable mouse acceleration and also my second monitor display is on the left but default is set to right. 🤣
@@Dan_HardyI would suggest that you create your own custom monitor variation as described in the ML4W Wiki and follow the monitor configuration tutorial described in the Hyprland Wiki.
@@mylinuxforwork thank you I'll take a look 😃
What chatgpt app are you using
This is just the general openai webpage displayed in chromium with chromium --app=chat.openai.com
Does ML4W works on virtual box or VMware?
I use Qemu/KVM and it’s working. Never tested it in virtual box or VMware. But it sounds like another video. Will give it a try.
I tried it but it seems my z and y key is swapped. Can anyone tell me how I can fix it.
It seems that your keyboard configuration is wrong. You can update it here gitlab.com/stephan-raabe/dotfiles/-/blob/main/hypr/conf/keyboard.conf?ref_type=heads
Thanks a lot. 😊🙏
unable to download sddm-sugar-candy-git error is coming.
Thanks for your feedback. Will check.
@@mylinuxforwork I am using VMware if it helps.
@@mylinuxforwork In Hyprland mouse cursor is not showing if Hyprland is selected from sddm. but if ran through terminal (with command Hyprland) cursor is showing.
Does it work with touchscreen?
Yes. I use it on a touchscreen on my laptop. The only current issue is scrolling in rofi. But I am working on it.
