The key to it seems to be stripping both the male and female threads. This guy is a moron. You can put female threads in wood (carefully), I do it often, but putting male threads on a wooden dowel with such a fine pitch (M12 is usually 1.5mm pitch). Typically, female threads in wood are used to screw in steel inserts which have a smaller female thread (e.g. M6) in them for securing parts together without using wood screws.
1. More stability 2. A longer dowel 3. More secure, and plus it’s just a damn hole, when you take everything out so you can undo it pretty easily. it’s funny how these amateurs come out here and whine about something they don’t know shit about
Another. Or maybe he didn't have a dowel, used the die to make a dowel, and then used the same sized tap to make a hole that matched the dowel. Making the dowel makes some sense, but the hole doesn't.
They make lock nuts, lock washers, and thread locking compounds, there's a bunch of ways to lock nuts in place without drilling a hole. If you're going to drill a hole you could at least use a cotter pin instead of a smaller bolt and nut, now you have to worry about the little nut coming off 🙄

...#1 sweet jesus.... no... never go that straight downwards... aim for inbetween that.... because if you go straight down your now creating a fracture line along the wood grain where a slight bump will cause the wood to just break off. the piece of wood you got might work for that because the grain flows horizontally along the length but if it ever flows vertically you'll end up busting the end of the corner off easily.
I love your videos so much. Not because they are useful or have value, but precisely because they provide absolutely zero value whatsoever, and that is very impressive!

Always use metalworking drills to make holes in wood? Put a countersunk screw in at 45 degrees to the surface, leaving the head sticking out, when you could just move it a bit lower. Don't use locknuts when you can just drill a hole through your (cheese soft nut and bolt - and make sure it isn't straight) and ram a machine screw through it. Clearly Russia or wherever these come from have not yet discovered split-pins or locking wire.
There is times when I'm working with nuts and bolts, when I don't want it to back out or come loose I just crimp the threads. That is for permanent install. I'm going to have to show the guys that are in charge of job security this one.
What's the point of the last one? Nuts are already tight enough as they are. Nuts can hold bridges together based on their friction. They don't need a hole drilled through them with another bolt and a smaller nut. I see nuts all the time in big things like power poles and bridges, and this is never done.

Why did you thread the wood hole then smack a wood pin in?
I guess the idea was to make sure the dowel and hole were the same size but I'm pretty sure using a tap and die isn't the easiest way to do that...
My guess was to make both the dowel and the hole rough to make the glue stick better.

Yes thread the dowel. That makes sense.
Pretty sure it's used to make the plug the approximate size easily..yes much of this is silly.
Threading the dowel and the hole created more friction on each surface, which would help hold the dowel better 👍🏻
