I made the vid lol. I'll be honest, in the past 6 months of equipment I've bought, the NAS definitely takes the cake for my favorite thing for sure.

Hey, thanks! The router only affects the speed of connection between the internet and your devices accessing it, so it doesn’t make a difference to the speed of access to a NAS on an internal network.
Your computer isn’t using the internet to access the NAS so the router doesn’t affect it. On an internal network you just need to connect the pc and NAS to the 10G switch. You can then connect your router to the 10G switch to allow the pc and NAS to access the internet as well.
What is the best way to test 10GB net conection?
SO dumb question...if I am on the only computer on the NAS right now, do I need the 10gb switcher or I can I just connect MBP directly to NAS through the QNAP Thunderbolt adapter? I seem to be connected, but speeds are very slow.
If your NAS is running smoothly, there is no reason to upgrade. If you have to wait on your NAS to finish loading/saving your progress, then yes, it is time to upgrade to increase the bandwidth, 10gbe may be overkill but is much more future proof than 1gbe.

Unfortunately not, you need a NAS with Thunderbolt connection if you want a direct connection. NAS are network storage devices and as such they need to be connected to a network, I.e. a network switch between the NAS and the computer. They are easy to set up if you only have one or two computers in the mix.
You can totally use a single cable to connect a pc and NAS to receive 10Gbe between them. A slightly modified cable called a Patch cable or DAC is what you need. A standard twisted pair ethernet cable will not work.
Hello! I am expanding my business and looking for an editor who can work remotely. I am based in London, and the editor is in London and Birmingham. I would like to have the files stored on my local NAS and have the editor log in remotely to edit them over the internet. Is this possible? I use Premiere Pro and edit videos in 4k and 1080p resolutions. I have a limited budget of £500-1500. Can you recommend any options?
Question! Would 2.5GBe speeds on the editor's computers be enough for 4k editing? I have a thunderbolt dock with 2.5GBe, and am trying to see if I really need the 10GBe adapter for video editing. 10GBe from server to switch, but then would 2.5G to macbook pro be enough?
We have been using a cheap Mokerlink 2.5Gbe switch with 2.5Gbe adapters to our Mac Minis and Mac Studio. We edit 4k with 5 editors all from a Synology NAS. I did put a 10Gbe card in the Synology and our switch does also have one 10Gbe connection which we use for the NAS.

Can I ask a question? I edit video on Premiere Pro, everything is okay but When I get Nas and connect to my pc through ethernet cable then I tried with wifi but whaetever, everthing become lagging, open premiere slow, render slow, export take more 1 hour before I set up Nas I just take 5-10 mins. What is the problem? I didn’t get ssd for first set up and I edit video on Nas then I tried edit on my pc ssd but it get the same thing, it extremely slow😢
Hi Can Ko, I’m not entirely sure of the question but you can’t really use a NAS over wifi. The data transfer speeds are not fast enough for Premiere to access the NAS files fast enough. You need to be connected via Ethernet.
You also need to make sure you have the right Ethernet cabling to your NAS and PC. If you are trying to edit 4K or higher or have lots of effects on it via a Cat5 cable then you won’t have enough bandwidth.
Editing from a NAS is all about having the correct internal network set up. Once you have that you’ll be fine.
Wouldn't it all matter to the internet speed you're paying for? For example, I could have 1GB internet and use a 10GB switch with Cat6 cables but still get speeds of only 1GB. I'm just saying, I could be wrong. 👍
Apologies, I seem to have forgotten to mention that this is internal bandwidth speeds. It doesn’t use your external internet speed that you pay your ISP for. This is all to do with computers and NAS’ that are on your internal network.

@@DigiProTips at 6:51 you are showing a WeTransfer upload, and saying you were "able to deliver project faster without dealing with those bottle necks" i think that why he was asking , WeTransfer isn't on the LAN it's in the WAN area and that's for sure depends on the speed of your ISP provider.... another question while im here can you show some real-time editing on this setup? and did you use the footage as it is or is it rendered to proxies to the local machine?
