Good analysis Dananath. Regarding the revenue, NPP is strongly in the side of reducing government expenditure on maintaining current and former politicians.

I think that was a very good summary. Regarding what I have learnt about NPP, where SOE’s are concerned Power and energy, telecommunications, railways, health, Water, will be state owned but restructured to run efficiently with set KPIs. In the power sector, new generation will be open to private sector with competitive tenders. SOE’s likes SRi Lankan airlines will be restructured to operate profitably and support the tourism industry. WRT governance, the law will be applied to individuals as well as businesses equitably, constitution amended to a PM and cabinet type model with a ceremonial type President. WRT revenue, taxes will be reduced but restructure with digitalisation of customs , IR, Excise, Immigration will reduce corruption and thereby increase revenue by heaps. Wasteful expenditure reduction of President, ministers and MPs and their staff and families, overseas embassies etc will be cut. These actions will increase revenue. SOE restructures will increase govt revenue via both profits and taxes. Increase in revenue by increasing growth. IT sector, value added tourism, value added labour export services, value added maritime services, value added garment industry, agriculture, fisheries and manufacturing industries. The state will essentially play the role of facilitator by providing the required laws and regulations, platforms and data to enable the private sector including new start ups to integrate with both the local and global markets. Work with expat SL groups, local banks and development bank (mentioned) to facilitate capital availability.
The NPP has clearly outlined its vision and comprehensive policies over the past several months, covering critical areas like education, health, tourism, IT, energy, agriculture, debt restructuring, and tax reforms. They’ve emphasized the need to uphold the law, eradicate corruption, increase government efficiency, and implement public-private partnership models where necessary. Moreover, their plan to drive Sri Lanka towards a production-based economy while providing social security to millions affected by the economic crisis demonstrates a clear path forward.

Development bank concept was introduced in the election by NPP and all are agreeing NPP first said they definitely negotiate with imf for changes, all others now follow 😊 including Ranil. Impact of NPP ideologies. Taking Namal to compare is useless as it is the same as Ranil who has got namals members. Bopage or Fonseka is better for comparison than Namal as they have already shared something
Thank you for the analysis presentation. Could you schedule an interview with the key candidate to discuss these 6 areas? This will help us understand their capability to deliver once they are appointed.
NPP is clearly the answer. They are very clear with their direction and they know what they are doing. We need a team that has the political will to do the right thing and implement it too. What we have lacked all these 75 years is the implementation. While the other policies are also incomparable, if you refer to the economic growth reforms section (the most important in my opinion), npp clearly has the best strategy - government facilitates and formulates plans with an overall vision, private sector drives this growth. Exactly what we need right now.
Dananath thanks for sharing an unbiased and objective view. I can’t find your comment to my post somehow but wanted to reply since I saw it on my email. People think that economies like US and Canada are good but the most successful economies currently in my opinion are countries like Norway, Sweden. They are also ranked the best countries to live in based on the quality of life. Capitalist economies will soon fail as we all know. Pls also convey the message to people about the importance of voting, that is something we need more importance on.
SJB is mainly planning for an export oriented economy, but NPP there main aim is to produce import substitutes within the county itself to secure the reserves. This is sth you should have mentioned in this video.
Incorrect, I suggest you watch the video again or watch the video where Anura spoke at their business conference. NPP is focused on creating a well formulated industry wise plan to facilitate data driven decisions that can help Sri Lanka export. They will use R&D - the first time a government in Sri Lanka has created a plan for this. All this is simply not just for domestic use. Either you are biased, ignorant or not well read. Pls read through before you make statements like this.
In my personal opinion, every major candidate except AKD had failed to provide a detailed action plan/ roadmap for the economic development of the country. Everyone are seemingly to tell what they could recall since they have to present something to win power at least at the parliamentary elections.
I think a video like this without the manifestos being published is a mistake with chances of misrepresentations. Would like a follow up video after the manifesto publication.

There is no much different in all three main candidates. So, why we need to change current president ? Again, Pls do it in Sinhalese and show in a graph.
This pretty much sums up the economic development stances of the four main parties. I feel the strategies of the three main candidates are more or less the same, with no significant differences (especially between the NPP and SJB). Notably, NPP is the only party that has provided a stance on all these areas so far. For me, the key question is who is most capable of implementing these measures, without hidden agendas, with minimal corruption, and with a genuine intention to move this country forward. On that basis, I support the NPP. However, I notice that the NPP has become a common target for attacks, including from the media, despite their minimal contribution to the current economic crisis. The groups that are slinging mud at the NPP are the very ones responsible for governing this country over the past 25 years (some even longer) and are responsible for the current crisis. Yet, we also grill NPP representatives, demanding answers on how they plan to rescue SOEs. What an irony!
What do you got to say on government decisions to 1. Increase government servants salary by 25000/=?? 2. Using government funds, vehicles, facilities for election campaign 3. Importing eggs when we have enough 4. Fully sponsored surgeries by president fund when country is in a financial crisis? 5. Increasing of apit tax ceiling by 25%?
SOE Restructuring Unit - Melwa Hotels & Resorts (Pvt) Ltd has been announced as the only prequalified company to have put forward a bid for the divestiture of Hilton Hotels! This is such a disastrous deal considering low estimated land value & Anandaraja Pillai a director of Melwa who funded Aragalaya big time - deal was done based on Friendship
Good one. For SJB they published economic blueprint ,which SJB has put forwarded thier strategy towards economic regain.but there are recent statments from SP , which may not allign with the same stratergy that they published earlier . Could please elaborate a vagueness abot each candidates about their own policies.
Great summary. The only certainty in the advocated policies being actually implemented is in Ranil. He has already laid the hard groundwork (which the others seem to have been converted to following), and it will merely be a continuation of the path that he has chartered and in fact actually implemented over the last couple of years. Happy to be corrected in my analysis and summary.
He is the only candidate who was in power to take any action (and was forced to because the things he did when he was in power earlier are part of the problem) so I don't think it counts as a plus for him. :)
Appears to portray RW as a salvage economy specialist, a skill he has gained in the past two years, after his political career ended in utter failure without a seat. There are many service providers who can salvage a broken car but what people want is a new car. The salvaging business should have completed in max 6 months after oil prices came spiralling down, but it’s 2 yrs+ and in the mean time some have died without food and medicines. I say no more.
There were manifestos before too, but how about implementation? have they implemented their manifestos before? its not about policies, its about general public trust in candidates and their teams.
SJB will publish their manifestos a few days after NPP has been published as they have to study and copy without changing a single full stop. so plz give them enough time ...
We cannot trust any candidates who have promised a lot on past elections but failed to deliver post victory . Only NPP CAN BE Trusted as they have always kept their promises and have never over promised at previous campaigns /policies
A great break down to help the voters to make their decision! CEB should be on focus to make some energy cost efficiency ! Outrageous bills and estimates! Highest % of consumer billing and earnings which is making cost of living out of whack! Need to ask the leaders how to crack down on this !!
thing is you missed one of the most critical criteria and it's the biggest dependency * having robbers and not having robbers (it should be a criteria for this ofc in sri lankan culture now)
What about Port city ride a yatch and fly Sri Lankan Airlines land in Rathmalana was stopped due to Second World War and that return back from Grand Bell line Kollupitiya. Harvesting Trillion Dollar Egg or Billion Dollar of Personal Gain of SJB ? Old loan moratorium up to 30 years and started fresh from Ranil Wickramasinghe ? Namal vote might join Ranil Wickramasinghe might continue of Rathnapura vission or mission !
The bottom line is none of the 3 candidates from SJB, NPP or Ranil have anything new. SJB and NPP will carry on current government policies because anything apart from it will be disastrous and they will not take any risks. Namal will not win, but Pohottuwa is the only party that will boldly take different steps to paying debt as he has MR's relationship with China and India. Also Namal will carry forward Mahinda Chinthanaya which no matter what anyone says in this island, the only political manifest that ended 30 years of war, increased country's GDP, brought Sri Lanka from lower income country to middle income country, invested in huge infrastructure network all around the country, expanded internet and mobile network to every corner in Sri Lanka. So Pohottuwa is the only party that has walked the talk, i wish Sri Lankans can see the facts and make a choice, however unfortunately Sri Lankas vote with gossip based information rather than factual information.

Sour grapes already.LOL.

Only NPP has a vision towards all sectors .
JVP must divulge if they follow right or left. ( no need to talk of a left which has collapsed world over)
We all know by now how so called mixed economy has failed here and in most other countries. They said mixed economy with human face etc etc all of which took us no where. I think it is only Ranil Wickramasinghe who openly adhere to a liberal free market economy in line with IMF goals. JVP must declare how long they will maintain the overstaffed , massive loss making public sector like Railway , which are strongly supported by their trade unions.
Till then from where they will source funds to bridge budget defecit and for how long? TODAY THEY SHOUT SAYING PEOPLE ARE PAYING HIGH TAXS , How MUCH THEY WILL REDUCE AS SOON AS THEY COME TO POWER ? How much salary hikes they will give..we egarly waiting to read ONLY ECONOMIC AREAS of their manifesto out on 26th..To me it is something they coined on 11th hour after sitting in opposition for so many years !
Anura and his team has a perfect blend of wisdom to govern SL more effectively .
Thank you so much -very useful for us that follow from abroad. Keep up your good work
Thank you, Dhananath, for your effort. The public needs independent views and analysis of affairs as politicians tend to give biased pictures.
SOME politicians give biased views not all and its unfair to treat all with the same brush IMO.
@dil4035 all politicians not only give biased pictures but also they distort, lie, and manipulate to mislead voters.
Development bank concept was introduced in the election by NPP and all are agreeing
NPP first said they definitely negotiate with imf for changes, all others now follow 😊 including Ranil.
Good idea
useful, informative and thankyou.🤗
NPP is clearly the answer. They are very clear with their direction and they know what they are doing. We need a team that has the political will to do the right thing and implement it too. What we have lacked all these 75 years is the implementation.
While the other policies are also incomparable, if you refer to the economic growth reforms section (the most important in my opinion), npp clearly has the best strategy - government facilitates and formulates plans with an overall vision, private sector drives this growth. Exactly what we need right now.
Agree
Pls read through before you make statements like this.
false, export oriented economy has been a staple of NPP/JVP policies for a long time.
😂
In my personal opinion, every major candidate except AKD had failed to provide a detailed action plan/ roadmap for the economic development of the country. Everyone are seemingly to tell what they could recall since they have to present something to win power at least at the parliamentary elections.
Will there be some more debates on their economic policies between the main parties? Of course we had one by Chamber of Commerce. We need more.
I think a video like this without the manifestos being published is a mistake with chances of misrepresentations. Would like a follow up video after the manifesto publication.

Again, Pls do it in Sinhalese and show in a graph.

Very good summarization Advocata
AI of Ranil Wickramasinghe Policy included Junior canditate Tourism, Banking and Green vision to brought forward !
Green vision 🤣
Very good summarization
Good Job looking for deep and futher points all parties.....කගෙත් කුන,මඩ හොයනවට වඩා....welldone MR Dana
What do you got to say on government decisions to
1. Increase government servants salary by 25000/=??
2. Using government funds, vehicles, facilities for election campaign
3. Importing eggs when we have enough
4. Fully sponsored surgeries by president fund when country is in a financial crisis?
5. Increasing of apit tax ceiling by 25%?
It was informative 📚
SOE Restructuring Unit - Melwa Hotels & Resorts (Pvt) Ltd has been announced as the only prequalified company to have put forward a bid for the divestiture of Hilton Hotels! This is such a disastrous deal considering low estimated land value & Anandaraja Pillai a director of Melwa who funded Aragalaya big time - deal was done based on Friendship

since you are active politician, you can not give a unbiased opinion !!
Why don't you evaluate the pros and cons of these proposals.?
Even a child knows that SLPP, SJB and UNP are not going to implement those policies 😂😂😂
Talking about policies is also pointless 😂😂
Good one. For SJB they published economic blueprint ,which SJB has put forwarded thier strategy towards economic regain.but there are recent statments from SP , which may not allign with the same stratergy that they published earlier .
Could please elaborate a vagueness abot each candidates about their own policies.
What is the comparisons on the plantation sector ?
Whatever said & proposed, if mistakes are done, definitely another Bangladesh will arrise
There were manifestos before too, but how about implementation? have they implemented their manifestos before? its not about policies, its about general public trust in candidates and their teams.
Superb
👍
SJB will publish their manifestos a few days after NPP has been published as they have to study and copy without changing a single full stop. so plz give them enough time ...
What ranil lack is honesty and integrity.. His slogan is CAN..😂😂😂 only thing he can't is getting down arjun mahendran from Singapore...😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Why dont you scale down to two candidates ,namely Anura vs Sajith ?
Do you have any pdf?
We cannot trust any candidates who have promised a lot on past elections but failed to deliver post victory

Only NPP CAN BE Trusted as they have always kept their promises and have never over promised at previous campaigns /policies

Please add Sarvajana Balaya manifesto as well in the next video. They have put out a very well-structured approach compared to the rest.
Non of these would work without a change of the political culture. So the NPP is the answer.
