Thank you for sharing. This was helpful 😊 I appreciate your positive attitude- even towards the things that didn't work so well. Your videos challenge me yo be a better mama, homeschooler and christian 🙏🏻
I hope The Good and Beautiful listens to your suggestion for more math practice!! We absolutely adore their math, but I do have to supplement with extra practice
I agree! I actually use TGTB math as my 2nd graders supplement to add extra to Math with confidence. She loves math so she’s not giving me a hard time about two math books so we do 2-3 days a week MWC and then 2 lessons twice a week of TGTB math.
We are using totally different curriculums but I still love seeing your updates! This summer break we are doing Spanish Emersion at home. As a bilingual family we want to focus on our Spanish again so we dont lose our fluency. We'll read library books in Spanish, listen to Spanish folk songs, and we'll only have spanish conversations. I'll also try to switch any movies/shows to Spanish during screen time 😊
Ugh I tell myself I’m going to do this as well but then I revert to English. I think I’m going to have to bite the bullet and just switch their shows and hope it doesn’t cause WW3 😂 my oldest speaks it the most but it’s downhill from there. My little one barely speaks it. He understands but I want all of them to be able to speak to my mom (who only speaks Spanish but kind of understand English lol) comfortably.
@@_vrocks I understand the struggle! I want to encourage you though, cause I believe you can do it! I'm a first generation American who speaks Spanish fluently because of all the practice I got just from speaking it at home, and we've managed to raise daughters speaking Spanish too, I believe that's a miracle lol They have moments when they want to revert to English but we gently ask them to repeat what they said in Spanish or help translate so they can repeat it the right way. That's what our whole summer is going to be about, hopefully it goes well without WW3 lol and i think the literature will help develop new vocabulary 😊
Our (English speaking) church has a Spanish Life Group and that has helped so much with the Spanish. The children tend to speak more English and we have to remind them, but at least they hear a lot of Spanish.
I really enjoy your input on homeschooling. You are inspiring me even though I'm a veteran homeschool mama! You are doing a great job, please keep sharing!
I always love to see that you have uploaded a new video! I appreciate you sharing what works and doesn't because if I come to the place where I need to change something up, I am confident that I will be able to find what we need. ❤️
We LOVE the musical multiplication!! Even my younger kids are learning the songs. It does take some time to get them down but once they get them it’s amazing. ❤
We did the same thing with math a little over a month ago! My son was struggling with Math 2 in TGTB. We switched to Math with Confidence and he loves it! He's really picking it up now thankfully!
We absolutely love Math With Confidence. I feel like it sets a very good foundation and actually teaches the needed math concepts. When you were describing what you were looking for, I was thinking Math With a confidence before you said it.
Nice! Yeah.... I'm realizing my poor boy didn't know a few basic math concepts. So I'm happy we started at the beginning of 2nd grade. I'm not sure what happened because even my 1st knows those concepts. Maybe he just needed it explained differently. ❤️
We had the same situation for math but for level 1. Math with Confidence has been the best switch I've ever made with homeschooling! I've learned to bring the manipulatives we need for that lesson out before we start. Helps me be more organized. For the games, maybe he could play with one of the older siblings so you could have a break some days?
It’s so interesting how different learning styles handle the exact same curriculum! My oldest is able to handle the new math from TGTB really well. He can take from the pictures and visuals on the page and catches on quickly, the review always seems like enough for him & he’s trucking along halfway through simply math 3. However my 1st grader started simply math 1 and immediately we could see the disconnect from the concepts being visual rather than hands on for him. I realized he’s a kinesthetic learner and yes he needs that routine and more practice in each topic! I ended up purchasing TGTB’s OLD math 1 (found it brand new!) and it is the perfect fit with plenty of hands on, games, etc. I know it’s something you’ve used in the past, maybe something to consider, especially if you still have your old math box kicking around ❤
I had the HARDEST time with math with my 8/9 yo this year, and we started grades over too. We bought the wrap ups and printed out worksheets. Totally get you. I started her on Christian Light Education today and it has great repetition and confidence building and no teachers manual needed for the new concepts - it’s pretty much self-taught in their little units!
I've heard such great things about CLE! I think if our current Math (Abeka) ever stops working for us we'd probably give that one a try. We will eventually switch to Teaching Textbooks in future years because teaching Math gives me anxiety so I'm definitely outsourcing it 😅 love that we have these options as homeschoolers!
Hey! I’m new to your channel and have been loving all your content! I’ve been wrestling with curriculum and have decided to use the good and the beautiful and cc with a group in our town! Thank you for all your input and sharing what’s worked and what hasn’t. It definitely helps us new homeschooling mamas! 😊
Oh how exciting! I pray it's something that works for y'all. CC can be a little intimidating at first, but once you see how simple it can be, it really is amazing!
Always get excited when I see a new video from you! ❤ Maybe you checked into this Math already but after TGTB simply math didn’t work for my 3rd graders I switched them to Apologia math. It’s the perfect alternative to TGTB in my experience. It has more of a mastery approach as you study one topic for a whole unit with some review (it tells you at the beginning of the unit what to work on for review work but you can always customize it to what your child needs). It DOESNT have a massive teacher guide. It’s a lot more open and go like TGTB. It starts out the lesson with a hands on activity usually pretty short and then has the problems for the lesson. I also found the musical multiplication to not be the best approach. Apologia teaches them in families. Like all the 2s etc. makes a lot more sense to me then just random facts. It still just takes drilling I think to get those facts down and memorized. Maybe if my kids had mastered skip counting it would help. 🤪 I am planning to use MWC for my 1st grader this fall as I want to compare how I like MWC versus Apologia. I don’t have the option of using MWC for my older ones since that don’t have that high of levels released yet. But I have a feeling I’m not going to like that FAT teachers manual either!! 🥴
Thank you so much for sharing! We absolutely love The Good and The Beautiful Language Arts but didn’t even make it two lessons with their Math. We switched to Singapore Math Dimensions and could not have asked for a better curriculum!
We struggled with TGTB math this year too- started with levels 1 and 2 for my first and second graders. We switched to CLE math and it’s been great- so much more logical and thorough! Cheap and you really don’t need the teachers guides unless you want the answers. It’s a very student- led curriculum.
Cle math and language ar is awesome. I combine them with good and beautiful. Two days a week cle two days good and beautiful. They compliment one another. Plus cle has more practice.
Good to know. I was thinking of switching to CLE. I still have grade 3 and I might finish that. But I might just get one of the CLE workbooks and try it.
Great video! Thanks for sharing your pros and cons. Very helpful! You've given me some great resources for my kiddos. For the spelling, maybe you can have them practice breaking down the words into sounds. For example, the word BOUGHT can be broken up into 3 sounds: B - OUGH - T. Knowing this may help remember how to spell words like thought, fought, brought, etc. I use sound boxes (Elkonin) for spelling practice. Of course there are always exceptions (tough, dough, through)!
We use MWC also, and i hear you on the games being tricky sometimes with a large family :) it has been working really well though for our 6 year old for 2 years now. I really appreciate the spiral/mastery setup.
Math with confidence is amazing!! I use both the kindergarten and the first grade books and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s hands-on and the lessons are short and engaging. You start the lesson with reviews and there are facts that the student learns each unit (e.g. the days of the week, the months of the year ). It teaches kids to conceptualize math and develop a positive attitude towards it. The teacher script and notes are great! I love it! Kate Snow also has a great book/ curriculum to teach toddlers early math concepts which is also great and works.
We are doing Maths K, but supplmenting it with montessori and hands on/play based activities. I find this combination really effective and allows for deeper understanding of the material. For example, TGATB had lessons about comparing weight. A day or so later (after an unrelated TGATB lesson) we did a hands on session with actual balance scales. This allows our TGATB to introduce the concept, then we develop it further in a hands on way.
ESA! ❤ I'm from Idaho, and there is a lot of interest to create one here. Some of our legislature have been using Arizona as an example and model! We had a really nice bill make it to the floor in our Senate this year, but it was killed on the floor. Bummer! Maybe next year! I'd sure love to get some of my tax dollars back to help educate my own kids as well as my neighbors'. Anyway, I'm reading the comments here on TGTB Simply Math, and I have to say, I'm disapppinted in everyone's experiences. I thought part of the point of rewriting the curriculum was to add more review. My son is finishing up Level 4, and we have really enjoyed it. I have to say that there is a TON of review (almost too much), mental math practice every day, and a huge emphasis on mastering multiplication in it. I wonder if Level 3 is meant to introduce multiplication, and the facts should be mastered by the end of 4. Maybe they aren't supposed to truly be mastered in 3, and so the lack of practice is intentional to make it more gentle? For my younger kids, we are using the old TGTB levels. I bought all of the levels when they went on clearance...then TGTB announced that the new levels would be free. 🤦♀️ But I have them now , so I am determined to use them. I photocopy the pages they need to write on, and my youngest son will write in the actual books. I stretch our dollars that way! Anyway, I was a little bummed that I was missing out on the new ones, but maybe it's for the best. I love them, and my third child is picking up the concepts from them really well. I just can't read the script verbatim because he gets bored with the stories, but that's pretty much the only modifying I need to do. Maybe they're better than the new ones? Still love Simply Level 4 though, and my oldest and I are looking forward to Level 5.
Oh that's great to know about Level 4. I was concerned my oldest wasn't doing well in multiplication, but maybe the lack of practice is on purpose. Hmmmm.....very interesting! We're looking forward to level 4. Just got it in the mail yesterday. 😁 Praying ESA goes through in your state! It is nice to get some of our tax dollars back. 😉
My son is doing 2nd grade math with TGTB and he loves it! We actually used Math Mammoth for level 1 and I really loved the foundation it set for him. It was a lot more mental math/visual approach (like an abacus) rather than using fingers to do the work but I think that worked well for him. It’s more boring looking but it gets straight to the point. So I think setting that foundation and then switching to TGTB was a good call for us. I think eventually I’ll move him to Math U See like my 6th grader because I love the way the videos explain the concepts.
Math with Confidence is the best!!! Stick with it until you get used to it, but it is wonderful. I have siblings play the games together, and they all learn!
So interesting. I LOVE the MWC teachers guide. We switched from TGTB math kindergarten year and the thing I loved about MWC was how much info and help their was for the teacher! We love all the games too. At the end of 1st, we have had to stop and take time to work on addition fact fluency though
I do love how much info it gives you...I just wish it was laid out in a more visually appealing way. Of course I understand that would cost more too. So I'm just trying to get used to it. :)
We switched from TGTB math to Math with Confidence for Grade 1 for the same reasons. We needed a slower spiral and more review. My son is loving it! Oddly enough, the things that didn't work in Math, works for him with TGTB Language arts.
We've used TGTB math before with my son and ran into the same problem. This year, I bought kindergarten math with confidence for my daughter, and I felt the same way about the teacher manual and all the games. For next year, I'm looking into christian light. It seems to be solid with plenty of practice and much more independent than the other two.
We were having a hard time with our math as well (masterbooks) and we switched to math mammoth. It is more child intensive then parent intensive which was a nice bonus, but you spend a month on a subject, and there's good review wrapped in the curriculum. We just finished our first year on it (my friend finished the first half with both her kiddos) and we both agree it's great
We had the same issues with the math. The spiral approach helped my daughter learn a lot of different concepts but we had to supplement with other things for time and money because she really needed more continued practice with it.
So I have read everyone's thoughts and alternative options for TGTB math which proves my initial concerns were correct. After reviewing TGTB for Kindergarten I knew my daughter was well prepared however I didn't see the additional practice. So I am moving a grade up with Singapore’s Primary Math with her over the summer when I have more time. And then we will do TGTB throughout the school year. Concepts will have already been taught and then I will use Singapore’s mastery and practice books or Addition and Subtraction facts that Stick she needs additional help throughout the school year. Both curriculums are advanced her years so we stay ahead of the game. This solidifies the point that TGTB is not enough but the open-and-go is priceless for busy mama's school year. So in summary I use TGTB as a review not to explicitly teach concepts. It's a free curriculum so I use it as such. 🥰 Hope this helps💡I use Elemental phonics and flash cards with TGTB LA as well but it's solid. I do move ahead in the reader cards well past the lessons associated with them. 🥰 Mental math of Singapore Method is priceless which is why I think Kate’s Teachers manual is hoping to achieve with the time consuming games and manipulative skills.
That sounds great Ava! Sounds like you found something that might work for your family. Just a word of advice, keep the kinder years fun. 😁 She will have plenty of time in the years to come to learn new math concepts and it will even stick better when she's older. But you know her best mama! And just to clarify....TGTB is working SO well with my other two girls. I believe my son has learning difficulties, that's why we needed something else. I just wanted to make sure I didn't come off as saying TGTB isn't enough. ❤️
We used TGTB for 3rd. It was fine but my son got overwhelmed by the busy pages and ALL the reading. We've switched to Math Mammoth and I love it so much!
I moved from TGTB math to Math Mammoth, which I adore!! Maria Miller (the curriculum creator) has free videos on RUclips to go along with all of the levels. If you buy the lesson plans, you get a pacing guide which links to the corresponding videos as well as computer based math games which correspond to whatever that day is teaching. She recommends only doing half the problems. I use the other half that I skip to do a review over the summer, to prevent summer slide!
My 8 yr old daughter has been going TGTB Math 2 this year and about halfway through it became a struggle! Clocks, money, skip counting.....it felt like it didn't give enough problems to really go deep enough for her to master before moving on to a new concept (I know it's spiral!) And I keep telling her she will be learning these concepts over again and again, but it's still been frustrating for her.
I understand! It does seem to jump around a lot...which is something I like....but it doesn't always work for every kid. Math is just one of those things where different people need different approaches. Praise God for the ability to switch curriculums when something doesn't work.
I’m glad I came across your video. My son will be going into 2nd grade next school year which will be our 3rd year homeschooling. I still feel like I’m trying to find the right curriculum for him. Last year for kindergarten, we did Bookshark because it laid everything out for me as a first time homeschooling mom but it was really heavy on reading. There were some things I did like about it like Math U See and Handwriting without Tears. but some things were just too much. So this year for first grade I swung all the way to the other side and used all online learning: Time 4 Learning, Mathseeds and Reading Eggs. I like the way it’s taught him how to sound out words, etc. but it didn’t allow for writing. So I had to find something else for him to use and for social studies. Needless to say he doesn’t like writing. In hindsight I probably should have went back to handwriting without tears. But I appreciate this video because it helps me to see what else is out there. We’re with a charter school so they don’t financially cover any faith based curriculum 😕. 🙏🏻 we find something that works for him and his style of learning. 😊
Oh darn! Praying for you mama! My boy doesn't like writing either. But I've heard from other homeschool mamas I trust, that writing can wait. I'm just now introducing writing to my 3rd grader and we're going to use a writing curriculum next year for 4th grade. So writing is something you might not have to worry about right now. Maybe Read Aloud Revival Premium could be paid by the charter. I don't thing they're technically a faith based curriculum.
Oh yay! I hope MWC helps! One tip that another mum shared was to get an older sibling to play the games. It helps a lot if you need to work with another child. :)
My oldest had a similar experience with TGTB math level 2. She switched to Life of Fred and uses Kate Snow’s math facts that stick books on the side some! It has been a blessing for her. I’m so intrigued by RAR Premium- I’ve also been looking at it for years! We ended up leaving our CC community too so that opens up some more opportunity and space in our day for other things.
My 2nd grader REALLY struggled with TGTB math this year too! He did fine with LA and was advanced. But the level 2 math was really tough on him, and he wasn’t getting enough repetition with each new concept. Spiraling did NOT work for him with the concepts introduced this year. We have decided to switch to Math U See for next year. We peeked at the level 3 math from TGTB and I quickly decided NOPE! We still love much of the material for TGTB, but the math needs some improvement - focusing more on mastery. Thanks for sharing this!
We struggled with the good and the beautiful math as well 😔 We switched to Math With Confidence and wanted to love it but the games and gathering all of the materials each day was kind of too much for me as a mom to 4 so I tried out Math Mammoth and that is our winner! It makes them approach math concepts in multiple ways which I love. It is more of a mastery approach that adds in review. Hope you guys find what works best for your son! Math 🤪
Same recommendation for Math with Confidence. I think the spiral approach but teaching concepts in units is very good. I had a hard time with TGTB Math when I saw how the lessons on each concept are scattered through the year instead of clumping them together. A friend of mine had the same problem with her daughter. I like that the manual is easy to follow, and each lesson is short. The manuals I've had in other curriculum are much more challenging to follow.
Math was like that for us for kindergarten. For first grade I’ve added in cle and kept level one math and we do two days cle two days good and beautiful. They complement one another. My daughter likes the games and the little fun stuff in that math and cle has a lot of good practice of concepts. It’s wonderful and their language arts cle I’ve incorporated too because they are gentle and gives much more practice for language concepts.
That's the great thing about Homeschooling...you can cater the education to the student. We like TGATB Language arts, but not the Handwriting and we really enjoy Math With Confidence, but I don't really spend that much time in the teacher's manual. I feel like a lot of it is the background behind the method, and it's not really necessary at the kindergarten level. But there are lots of review and short games as warm-ups, which my daughter loves (most of the time, lol; she hates to lose).
I love TGATB language arts. We used Math with Confidence for kindergarten and I really liked it, although we did not care for the following grades and switched to Saxon. One of my children also needs a spiral approach and plenty of repetition. Saxon Math is our winner, in fact all of my kids are using Saxon now. I imagine we will continue with Saxon throughout our homeschooling journey.
This is interesting. I’m using the kindergarten MWC, we love it. So curious what did you not like in the older grades? I’m not going to lie, I hate that the TM is not in color and all the flash cards kill me. Lol
I missed your videos! I feel the same about the math! She is in first grade. We are currently using big math book 1-2 grade. I'm thinking about using the older version math of the good and the beautiful. YEEES! for RUclips shorts, I don't have Instagram.
We used math with confidence first grade. It was really great but it just got to be too much with an 1 year old trying to get pieces and parts we were using and then the whining when he couldn’t have them was distracting, the lesson needing my full attention for all of it…. We needed something more independent so we switched to math mammoth and honestly it’s been great. Very similar in the teaching methods but it’s written to the student so I sit down when I can but if I have to get up he can still continue by himself. It’s amazing! Also it’s got so much practice and his math facts have improved so much with it. MWC the methods worked well for him but then when they reviewed it later he wouldn’t remember. So math mammoths mastery approach is working well for him.
In MWC’s authors website, Kate Snow, she has a mini review about TGTB Math, saying that its instruction is 1 inch deep and a mile wide, insinuating that it’s not enough explanation to master, and too many topics. My take away was that if your kid is math-minded it might work for them, otherwise it’s not enough to really understand. I had to switch too. We now love kindergarten MWC. We also love TGTB Language Arts, it’s amazing.
TGTB seems to be working for my other kiddos who are not math minded. It's actually helped ME understand a few concepts I apparently didn't fully get as a child. 😅 What's funny is that my boy loves math....but he just needs more repetition and practice. I wish I could just get ALL the math programs and look through them myself. Lol! ❤️
@@PursuingPeace that’s so interesting! Who knows why it works for some and not others. I know right, it would be so helpful and help not throw money away! 😃
@Pursuing Peace she will be starting 2nd Grade so I got level 2/grade 2 for both. I would prefer less hands on but I also think the extra lessons on certain concepts within MWC might benefit her in a long run. I will have to browse through them more and decide.
Our state is just starting that this month. Does it work for those that homeschool? Does it depend on the state? I believe it's only for private schools, but maybe I'm wrong!
We use math mammoth and is a spiral curriculum lots of review and memory my daughter absolutely likes it and no teacher manual needed self explanatory!
It's not spiral but a good in between. You spend one unit per subject, you don't switch up every day. But it's not like Math u See where you spend the whole year on the subject until fully mastered. We do love Math Mammoth here too
Oh I missed this video!! I will have to try some of these things with my son. How old is yours? We are ALSO switching to MWC. Im excited to see if it works for us too!! I am in the same boat as you...I dunno if Imma like that teachers guide....it comes today!!
My boy is 8yrs. Oh gosh! Yes! We've been using it for about 2 weeks now and that Teacher's Guide is just so overwhelming! BUT....he is LOVING it, and finally understanding concepts I, honestly, thought he already knew!!! So I'm happy with the switch so far. I just need to do a little more prep work.
Update!!! We finished lesson 1 today. And I totally skipped some of the hands-on counters work. And literally did work on our big whiteboard . He got up and wrote the equations for the example fact families. It is amazing! Then I told him I could see his confidence showing more. To which he replied, "mom, you realize this is called Math with Confidence?" Lol!!!! And he said he loved seeing it bigger on the board. Oh how responses like these make it sooooo worth the effort!!!
TGTB math 3 also did not work for our family, the musical multiplication facts did not stick because if we struggled to remember the words to the song, she couldn’t remember the facts even with daily practice. The lessons only covered it for a few lessons in the beginning of the book then nothing on multiplication for over 40 lessons. We will not be using their math going forward.
@@PursuingPeace yes I think it’s a blessing in disguise because we are all excited for a change. We are going to try Masterbooks MLFLE and Kate Snows Multiplication/Division facts that stick to really nail down those math facts.
Yes... TGTB grade 1 and 2 was a struggle for my son as well at certain points. I think the foundation of the addition and subtraction facts is lacking in visual understanding. So we supplemented with "addition facts that stick". My son is older than the math with confidence, so we're just sticking with TGTB for now. He's enjoying level 3.
Oh good! I'm glad he's enjoying it! Level 3 is working for my older girl, but we're having to supplement for multiplication. No curriculum is perfect....so we have to flexibility to filling in the gaps. ❤
That's great! I'm glad you found something that works! I think I'm going to use highlighters to at least highlight the beginning of each section within the lesson. Maybe it will help visually. 😁🤷❤️
For mine that seemed to need more help with add/subtract OR multiply/divide I found that the AIM program that math u see has was great. We ended up switching one child to that since it just works better for him then tgatb but if you are still looking for ideas.
I’m leaning towards doing Math with Confidence also. I’m not loving the Simply Good and Beautiful Math number sense in the younger years. My oldest did the old math and has excellent number sense so she did great with level 4, but I’m not loving the amount of lesson practice and review. My girl likes it though even tho I would like to switch her she doesn’t want to 😂
Yeah....He was getting the concept, but just needed a little more practice to solidify it. He would forget how to do things after a few lessons otherwise. Did you switch math curriculums??
@@Donttouchthisaccount143 Hi! I just switch them to the next grade whether they've finished that level or not. This year none of my kiddos finish their level's course books, but on the last day I made a big pronouncement that they are officially in the next grade. Lol! They loved that. 😁
@@PursuingPeace nice that’s awesome! So regardless if they finish or not, you just move them to the next grade level.. :) do you plan out your daily activities or just do them as they go? :)
A homeschool Co-op is where homeschool families get together for various activities or lessons. Every co-op is different and they range from meeting once a month for field trips or just to hang out....to meeting multiple times a week for real lessons on certain subjects. 😁 Hope this helps!
Reading eggs had some inappropriate books that has been popping up teaching them about sexual orientation and such something to consider if you are convicted. I decided not to go back to them.
Reading Eggs was great, but unfortunately has supported the far left movement. Books in their library etc. Another like-minded homerschooler mom on RUclips has a recrnt video all about it. :)
I pray y'all are having an amazing end of year! How have y'all been celebrating the end of the homeschool year? ❤️
Thank you for sharing. This was helpful 😊
I appreciate your positive attitude- even towards the things that didn't work so well. Your videos challenge me yo be a better mama, homeschooler and christian 🙏🏻
Oh Praise God! My only goal is to point people to Christ, so this is very encouraging to hear. Thank you Rebekah!
Math with confidence has been the best math switch for us after TGTB math!! It’s the best !
YAY! I'm glad y'all found something that works!

We LOVE the musical multiplication!! Even my younger kids are learning the songs. It does take some time to get them down but once they get them it’s amazing. ❤
Wonderful! That's great to know! ❤️
I think you’re going to absolutely love the math with confidence. It is such a wonderful curriculum.
Yes!!! I wish TGTB had a separate booklet for extra practice and mental math practice. That would be gold!!
It really would be a game changer for my boy.
@@PursuingPeace they do have mental math practice in Math 4 in a separate booklet.
We did the same thing with math a little over a month ago! My son was struggling with Math 2 in TGTB. We switched to Math with Confidence and he loves it! He's really picking it up now thankfully!
Your daughter peeking in the background! 😂 My son would be doing that for sure too, haha!
That's actually a great idea! My older girl always wants to play with us anyway. Lol!
@@PursuingPeace perfect!
That's interesting! I unfortunately have that away a while ago....but I think I have the PDFs. I might look into that! Thanks!
I love your personality!! So glad I found your channel!
So happy to see your beautiful face show up on my feed. This video has been encouraging as always!!! ❤️
Praise God! Thanks for the encouragement Becca!
New to your channel… great video!! Loved hearing your enthusiasm for home educating your children. ❤❤❤
Hi friend! That's cool! I haven't seen the math from CLE. I'll try anything with no teacher's manual! LOL!
Yay! I love your videos even though my kids are mostly older. So glad to see you posted again.
Love your intro haha yes 🙌 sanctifying season of life for sure ❤
🤪 I am planning to use MWC for my
1st grader this fall as I want to compare how I like MWC versus Apologia. I don’t have the option of using MWC for my older ones since that don’t have that high of levels released yet. But I have a feeling I’m not going to like that FAT teachers manual either!! 🥴
Hi! I saw the Apologia one but didn't look into it too much. Is it new? I couldn't find a whole lot of reviews on it.
@@ElaM__Christ_is_Life yes I really like CLE, and their light units are so cheap to just buy one or two and try it out!
Wow, this update is so helpful!! Thank you from a fellow military homeschool mama! ❤️
We hit the same wall in TGTB math this year as well in 2nd! I’ve heard this one you shared mentioned a lot lately. Thank you for sharing!
Praying ESA goes through in your state! It is nice to get some of our tax dollars back. 😉
I also noticed time taking a while to stick on my 7 year old. Thanks sharing😊
Isn't that weird? Every kid is just so different and created so uniquely that it's wonderful we get to teach them this way.
It's nice to hear from you and your family❤
Thank you! ❤️
Yes! I really think TGTB would benefit from having an option practice book option.
We're in the same boat because of 2 military moves within 8 months! I'm not stressing it either!
@@PursuingPeace thank you! I’ll look into that. 😊
Oh yay! I hope MWC helps! One tip that another mum shared was to get an older sibling to play the games. It helps a lot if you need to work with another child. :)
Yes! That's a great tip! Thanks for your video. It really helped me make a decision. 😁
We use BJU for math and I love the way they break down multiplication.
Math 🤪
Oh I'm so glad you found something that works! Who is Math Mammoth by??
We use her blue books for summer learning- they are all around $5 on her website! We love math mammoth!
@@PursuingPeace you can find the books on their site or through rainbow resources.
We do the Abeka workbooks only for math and it works really well with TGTB!
Oh that's interesting.....is there a separate teacher's guide for that one?
I would love to see a video over favorite apps and subscription boxes y’all have tried!
REALLY?!?! Oh gosh! I'm glad to hear this is one of the easier ones! Lol!
I don't like teacher's manuals either lol 😅 thanks for sharing mama!
Lol! Yeah! That's why I love TGTB so much!!! 😉
@@PursuingPeace same 🥰♥️
For math we are using the Math Mammoth Supplemental Workbook and skills covered line up well with TGTB math.
So do the levels match up?
@@PursuingPeace from what I can tell they do.
Wonderful video!!! Where did you get the timers from so cute!
Thank you! A friend got them from Staples. 😁
Lol! I hear ya'on the losing. We're working on that too. 😁 I can see how you wouldn't need the Manuel for kindergarten. 👍
I'm interested in Saxon....but I'm scared to pull the trigger just yet.
:) We'll see if I can figure out Shorts. Lol!
I'd love you to do a video about subscription boxes 😁
We tried math w/ Confidence 2 but my son did not care for it. We did go back to Horizons math and he really liked it more than MWC.
It's so funny we bought math with confidence and TGTB math for next year and I am undecided 😅
LOL! MWC is definitely more hands on. So it depends on your child. For what grade?
@Pursuing Peace she will be starting 2nd Grade so I got level 2/grade 2 for both. I would prefer less hands on but I also think the extra lessons on certain concepts within MWC might benefit her in a long run. I will have to browse through them more and decide.
We like multiplication facts that sticks 😊 i hope it will work for you as well.
I love TGTB math but I do used Abeka Arithmetic work text daily as a supplement to make sure they dont have any learning gaps 😊
Could you do a video of how the no sweat nature study works?? Im very interested
We use IXL for practice daily alongside TGTB
We have been on ESA for 3 years and it’s been the biggest blessing for our family! I pray other states start to implement ESAs as well
YES!!!!! We would not be able to afford so much of what we do and get! Such a blessing!!!!
Our state is just starting that this month. Does it work for those that homeschool? Does it depend on the state? I believe it's only for private schools, but maybe I'm wrong!
@@koributtorff It depends on the state. In AZ it could be for any schooling that's not publicly funded. What state do you live in?
@@PursuingPeace We love in Iowa.
I know a few other states have taken example and are starting ESAs in their state as well.
We use math mammoth and is a spiral curriculum lots of review and memory my daughter absolutely likes it and no teacher manual needed self explanatory!
Interesting.... you're the second person to recommend it. I'll check it out.
@@PursuingPeace aww!! My son is 8 too. I did a couple of the first lessons. He says it's "iffy" lol! We'll see how we do
@@jessicaladd85 🤣 We'll it's great he's honest. 😁
@@jessicaladd85 Oh that's wonderful!!! Yes! It's worth it! ❤️
Sorry it didn't work for you! I'm sure there's something that will work. It is kind of fun to look around for curriculum though. 😁😉
@@PursuingPeace Yes, we did buy the Times Tales for helping with multiplication facts. That did wonders!
I’d love to see a subscription video!
Thank you for this review but do be careful with reading eggs. Some sketchy things are being seen on that app. Just a heads up
I do the same thing for wed-nes-day, but not pe-ople haha 😂
I felt the same! But I’m trying apologia math next year
I get you about the Math With Confidence teacher’s manual 😐But this curriculum is the only math curriculum that is working for us.
That's great! I'm glad you found something that works! I think I'm going to use highlighters to at least highlight the beginning of each section within the lesson. Maybe it will help visually. 😁🤷❤️
I would love a video on subscriptions!
For mine that seemed to need more help with add/subtract OR multiply/divide I found that the AIM program that math u see has was great. We ended up switching one child to that since it just works better for him then tgatb but if you are still looking for ideas.
We used this as well after my kids did not have adding and subtracting down after using TGTB through 2nd grade.
I’m leaning towards doing Math with Confidence also. I’m not loving the Simply Good and Beautiful Math number sense in the younger years. My oldest did the old math and has excellent number sense so she did great with level 4, but I’m not loving the amount of lesson practice and review. My girl likes it though even tho I would like to switch her she doesn’t want to 😂
ESA is going to start here in Iowa. Does that cover homeschoolers too? I didn't know that!
The one here in Arizona does. 😁
Thanks same hear needed that extra ? for 2nd grade math. The clock, adding double digits
Yeah....He was getting the concept, but just needed a little more practice to solidify it. He would forget how to do things after a few lessons otherwise. Did you switch math curriculums??
Have you tried TGTB musical multiplication?
Yes! And it works ok but my older girl is still struggling.
I’m with you on teachers manuals. I need them to be more cut and dry 😅
Yes! The extra wording is ok because they're helpful tips, but it needs more color to help visually.
The 2nd grade math is in my cart for next year. Do you think you need the teacher manual in order to teach the lessons?
For Math With Confidence you definitely need the teacher's Manuel. 😁
@@PursuingPeace thank you for the tips. You are truly a blessing.

Hi there! I was wondering how you do grades?? Or you don’t do grades yet.. for elementary
Do they do spelling or is that combined with language arts thanks
It's combined with Language Arts.
What’s a co-op? What happens in there..?
