Tigers Bay Have Their Say - 2021

The Tigers Bay bonfire was a point of contention this summer. Amidst the political commentary, Let’s Talk Loyalism caught up with the people on the ground and got to hear what they thought and how they felt about the bonfire.

Ok so the main drive for the bonfire is boredom, due to a lack of things to do in the area and i would agree. Kids in Dublin have been known to do this on Halloween due to the lack of clubs and hobbies to do.
Where I'm seeing a issue here is defining this as culture, yes culture is vague but usually there can be deeper meanings. With the audio you've shared the people who go to this can be summed up as 'its something to do we havnt much else'.
Heres the catch 22 however if you get young people into activities, events out for work etc they wont have time to build these bonfires which would mean this event would stop happening.
So when the young lad says 'were passing it on' you are also passing on the poverty, conflict (emotional), isolation with it as its a self fulfilling cycle.
