I was a bit disapointed with it due to the lacking wideangle - The SQ12 is enroute and I hope that it is truely what it is supposed to be,etiher are quite good value if you don't expect too much (as i did).
Thanks for uploading this! My wife surprised me with one of these (it came in the mail a few hours before I typed this). I use several types of cameras to document skateboarding, and though this one isn't the same caliber of camera, I'm in awe of how tiny it is! I have a GoPro as well as a TomTom Bandit 4k, and I thought those were small (which they are compared to my handhelds). Regardless, it looks like it will be a ton of fun to play around with. Great intro vid to the camera, and you're right about the manual... I have perfect vision but will need a magnifying glass to read through it. For $12 (USD), it's quite capable!
It's certainly got it's uses for me. The consensus seems to be that you get better footage from 720P and I would be inclined to think the same. I bet you could get some great shots sticking this cam down by the Trucks or under a Rail etc! Happy filming!
You can upgrade the night vision! By using a ir lamp or light outside. You can mount it to the wall we’ll you want to secure the camera and or you can go outside recording while holding an ir light. It’s invisible to the naked eye. But any ir camera will pick up the field of view Will be amplified.
When in night vision mode are LED lights completely transparent? In other words, there are virtually NO lights at all (red, blue, white, etc.) visible near the lens in the dark?

Thanks for the review. The video quality on the SQ11 looks much better than that off the SQ8, with a lot better response to light changes and movement. The two questions I have :Does it have the overheating problem when charging? And does it have the same "how long do I hold the mode button to get it to switch to 1080ip mode?" problem?
Yeah, it's pretty hot while charging, but I assume it's under 50°C. When you press the mode button, it switches instantly to the next mode.The quality is... Well, the photos are upscaled by at least 300%, so the real resolution seems to be 1024x768, and the video quality is worse than a 7-8 years old mobile phone's, but as a novelty or a gift it's pretty nice.BTW, you have to remove the microSD card with a plier, because the slot doesn't have the usual retention / release mechanism.

Once turned on the camera is in video mode showing a blue LED. A quick press of the power button will start the recording - LED/'s will go out showing its recording ( Its an odd system for sure..) Mode button to cycle through modes (blue LED 720P video , blue and red LED 1080P video) Finally just a red LED is photo mode and a quick press will take a photo. Other functions are done but longish presses (2 seconds i believe) of Mode/Power one turns on infrared (can see if they are on looking the a mobile phone if needed) and motion detection. Other than what is mentioned above there is not much else in the way of knowing whats going on wit the camera and the final question.I'm not trying to be funy when I say this but the bettery being discharged I presume it wont turn on or might give some strange led flashes. I hope this helps and clears up some of your questions.

I'm looking at the possibility of making a night vision air rifle scope. My question about this mini cam is, can I plug in into a small monitor, turn it on with the night vision, and view what the camera sees live? I realize I would need an accessory UV light also. I would only need 7-10 yards range. Does this have a rechargeable internal battery, or does it need constant power to it? Thanks for your comments.
I'll try and facilitate the overall questions from a technical point of view. Yes you can feed an external monitor according to its specs although I have not tried it and I'll bet any screen you are considering has RCA input (yellow phono jack type thing for the video chan). The internal battery was good for 57mins on 720P recording testing it a few weeks back. You should be fine powering it internally but if you need longer use you will find that the video out and usb charge cable is all in one so just a matter of a little USB power bank etc. Prehaps you could tap into the acc IR light (I assume UV was a typo as they are at the opposite ends of the light spectrum?) On a tangent you probably wouldn't need to put it into night vision mode as it doesn't have IR block hence keeping the battery life to a maximum I would expect. 1080P is also just 720P upscaled which may use more power needlessly. Depending on your application,consider the SQ12. Its exactly the same camera but with less IR leds but wider field of view, I have a vid about it in my recentish uploads). Hope this helps some and I'd be intrested in how you get on with such a setup, good hunting.
Hi you don't show how to put in the sd card - I put in a Mircro SD card and it was stuck had to get it out with small tweezers. I think it's supposed to be a TF card, is that right would be bigger than a Micro SD or am I missing something. What should I look for on Ebay as TF Cards are often sold/Described as micro SD cards and visa-versa on some of these devices, but I'm guessing this camera takes a slightly larger card then a micro sd. PROBLEM SOLVED! Okay so I solved the problem by shining a flashlight into the port, it has a small tray mounted on the floor of the port on the right side - If you are expecting a push and click mechanism like most other devices then you might just end up getting the card stuck like I did. Best way to get the card in is shine a light on the port and make sure the card is flush with this little metal track on one side, there is plenty of room above so just inserting it will get stuck at the back of the aperature. As far as I can tell doesn't click in place, the oval front piece is to remove the card with a fingernail or such. Great video, thankyou going to try it out myself now - Just puzzled about getting the card in at first. Thankyou
Have you tested to see if motion detection stops recording after a certain number of minutes? I've heard once activated, it just continues recording, which would thus record over the motion incident after the card is full. Thanks!
I have not tested the motion detect mode to any extent but I'd hazard a guess that that battery would die well before the card was full (tested the battery last night and managed 57 mins on a full charge in 720p mode that generated 2.5gb of data). From the cryptic instructions it seems to record a 5 minute file once activated. I hope this gives you some info that may help none the less.
Yeah, my thought was to connect it to a powerbank hidden in a storage room. The hope (big hope?) is that it only uses power and records for X minutes after motion is detected so that the card doesnt fill up from continued recording. I'll bite the bullet as Ali Express doesnt seem to have many cheap small cameras for motion detection recording with self-contained batteries that I can find. Thanks for the super fast reply!
Ok, some further info from the SQ12's better manual (Same chipset,internals and operation) states that it will record until there is no motion detected ,while motion is keeping it recording it will be saving incremental files at 5 min intervals until the cards full or the battery runs out.

It recorded for 51:27 in 720P on a full charge, splitting the recordings into 5 min files where applicable. It recorded 2.56GB of data in that time, and was getting quite hot. Max capacity for card is 32GB so you are looking at about 12hours max continuously, if you wanted to use the motion detection you may cover a lot more time. Hope this helps.

It could be depending on your requirements. If you look at the SD card on a pc you will find a text file called timerest.txt from memory. Inside that will be a big string of numbers that represent the date and time and on the end is a Y or N that enabled or disables the timestamp being shown. Just set the character to N and save it. I hope this helps.

Just put the micro sd card into a computer and you should see the card as a drive containing the video files. I'm not sure if you can do it connecting the camera via usb.

I would expect so but cant say for certain, I can say however that I use a Samsung Ultra 32GB Class 10 fine in both the SQ11 and SQ12. Hope this helps.

Have u tested it for long usage. I'm planning to use it as hidden surveillance CCTV camera to attach to my vending machine. So motion sensor can record who are approaching my machine. Please advice me mate.
The battery is only 200mAh ,It would only do you about 30mins worth of recording, take into consideration the amount of power it might need to be in the On/Motion detection mode and it would not be usefull. You may be able to run it from a 5V power source or mod it with a much larger battery but then it wouldn't be suitable for you needs I would think?

For a while I mounted mine to a micro quad by disassembling the camera removing the case, battery and leds to connect it directly to the quad's battery.
I believe you press and hold the mode button for 3 seconds to activate it, signified by a few flashes of the blue/red lights depemding which quality mode you are in(720p or 1080p). No problem, I hope this helps & you're very welcome!

My comp wont download the appropriate drivers...not sure why. does this mean I wont be able to get this camera to work... ive tried to record and insert the sd card via USB port but my comp says theres nothing on the card. Now either it didnt actually record anything or.. I need the drivers installed and connect via the camera itself. what do you think? First up, 32bit comp wont be a problem. Is your card formatted fat32 to start with and what sort of card is it? (64GB is largest stated on the specs but 32gb might be the real limit IIRC) I've never managed to get drivers for the camera working and always just used a USB card reader. The last thing I can think to help you is that the lights go off when it starts recording. good luck.

I think I would give it a miss and prehaps check the SQ12 for maybe see if you can get an 808 #16 , This cams ok for certain things but it doesn't cut it for RC personally,sadly. I'm not familiar with the Apple side of pc's but I beleive that these cameras record in "MJPG (Motion Jpeg)" format video that looks like it was stopped being supported by Apple/Quicktime many moons ago and alot of other places also by default. Prehaps try uploading it privatly to your youtube account and redownload it as a processed mp4 file or run it through an online converter? The only other thing to try would be "VLC Player" for OS X etc might support playback. I hope this helps.
Thank you for your response. I don't understand the youtube procedure you suggest. VLC Player does not recognise the file. I find it hard to believe that this camera which seems to be selling by the million will not work automatically with an iMac. Surely something is going wrong!
Regards the RUclips thing,just upload a file to see if it is valid and not corrupted/recorded correctly. I have just uploaded a raw file from the SQ11 to check YT handles which it does: ruclips.net/video/3ZU013IWK58/видео.html If yours works on RUclips you can then downloaed it in a converted format from your "Video Manager" page. The codec/hardware that the SQ11 uses is rather old and mostly obsolete however in a world with common sense it should be supported on every platform,but sadly that isn't how tech is nowadays. Verify that your files recording correctly with the above method then you can move on to diagnosing exactly why it isnt playing on Mac - I would have thougt VLC would have worked though!
RUclips doesn't like the file either. "The video has failed to process. Please make sure you are uploading a supported file type." I saw a video on RUclips showing two types of SQ11 one of which was duff. Mine seems to be a hybrid. The lens and infra red surrounds look like the good version but it doesn't have the QueLima logo on the side. Do you think I just have a duff version?
I'm sad to hear your plight! It certainly seems like yours is faulty - its generating a file that sounds as though it is corrupt/not complete. is the SD card reliable? I can't speak to what ones are the better ones etc other than personal experience of the one I have which was one of the first ones I believe(It doesnt have any logo), the unit I have has worked fine for the most part - its just very vague in its simplistic feedback of what it's doing( Main bugbear is no singal that its recording). I wish I could be more definitive in helping you but at the end of the day ,I'm just a end of the line consumer like yourself,however I do symphathise.
I've never needed to use that feature but seeing as you asked, I thought I'd try it out. It worked fine while only needing to plug the yellow RCA into the applicable TV input ,turning the camera on displayed the picture straight away for me.
Anybody got a problem like me, I have it plugged in my car and when I turn on ignition and it gets power it starts - blue light, then red light for a second, then three or four blue blinks and then dark... I guess that is recording? But when I turn off power there is no end blink so when I take out the SD card it has a bunch of video files with 0kb.
I'm not sure if it has auto record on power up functionality. The manual is a bit cryptic about the colours so once plugged into a power source - long blue = charged, red and blue lights = charge apparently. when battery is insufficient/card full red and blue will flash for 5 seconds and auto shutdown. I wonder if your battery is charged and ok it might be the SD card maybe acting up, tried to format it or got another? 3 blue blinks is mentioned in 720p mode but most of it doesnt make any sense for the most part! Also some sort of flashing in motion detect mode. There is a reset button near the usb port that might be worth a shot if nothing else makes sense/works. Its a shame this camera is plagued by these little problems as it could be quite good if it did what it said on the tin!
Auto record does work, I tried it manually with a charger and it seemed to work most of the time, but not in the car. Tried two SD cards, reset it a few times etc. Hopefully I can figure it out otherwise I will just request a new one.
Just analysed the source footage from this ruclips.net/video/3ZU013IWK58/видео.html test and heres the rundown: I went through the source of this 1080p mode recording, it is not frame doubling however it is seemingly variable with an average of 22/23fps, the first second of the file is 10fps with the following second containing 23 frames. A segment of 6 seconds at a random point in the middle of the file produced the following fps: 21,24,23,23,24,22. This is the Codec info: Format : JPEG Codec ID : MJPG Duration : 5 min 0 s Bit rate : 19.9 Mb/s Width : 1 920 pixels Height : 1 080 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16:9 Frame rate : 30.000 FPS Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 Bit depth : 8 bits Compression mode : Lossy Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.320 Stream size : 713 MiB Prehaps the lossy compression is why,however the sampled bits are constantly changing frames/footage. I might look into it further but suffice to say the 1080P mode is not a fixed true 30fps if atall.
Can anyone tell why out of 4 units sent , 3 don't blink red when plugged in. I get solid blue steady light. Functions I'm not sure if yet ...not familiar enough with them to check funtionality. I h Please someone , comment.
I think red blinking is a charge stage indicator, charging for me goes from blinking red to solid red and then another combination (prehaps red and blue together) when full from memory.

You might be able to view a recorded video through an OTG cable and VLC media player,I haven't tried though. Possibly the same for live video out via an OTG adapter to RCA like the following: bit.ly/2mvmmhc Hope this helps

I just received my sq11 but it works only as a webcam. I can't use it to take a picture neither recording video. When i turn on the camera with holding the power button for about 3 seconds, the light keeps blinking red and blue. So that is different than all review that i saw on youtube. Camera with a transmitter and onboard recording: bit.ly/2zOxTvr Android USB OTG Receiver with swapable antenna: bit.ly/2AQM6be Very long range directional antenna: bit.ly/2hCqWce The camera would be very easy to fit to an RC vehicle and will take between 3.3 and 5.5 Volts so could possibly be run from the power feeding the RC's reciever or a little lipo - It has a good allround antenna for indoor and outdoor aswell as onboard recording including switchable power output. The USB OTG receiver for android would receive the signal and can take other antenna's for different uses: For cost,the antenna that comes with it would do ok receiving short range or prehaps medium in open air. A cloverleaf might help for some obstuctions. it has an RP-SMA connector for the antenna Be sure to check the supported phones on the items page to verify it works with what you have. Onto the listed long range antenna for the USB OTG receiver, This is for very long range but has a narrow beam width (RP-SMA for the above) I hope this gives you some idea of what you can do, you could go miles and miles with this setup theoretically, make sure you look into "5.8ghz FPV" if you require more knowledge. SQ11 supports upto 64G according to its datasheet (I assume the card came formatted as FAT/FAT32?). The reset button is the little hole next to the charging port.
Glad to hear! double checked the manual which does indeed state 64gb max, it seems the info has been updated on the store page to reflect 32gb max now. I have added a little bit in the description regards the light combo and 32gb sdcard support being maximum for good measure.
It's not that great but it may good enough depending what you require it for. looking for a cheap camera as dash cam or outside the car, so was looking on this for 10 dollar or a Eken h9r 4k in 25fps for 35 dollar....before I might have bought both, but im cheap now lol
For the right price ,you cant go wrong with the Eken H9 , I have one and use it alot. the 4K isn't great but the 1080P is very good, I had the H9 on the front of my S800 wing in the onboard FPV of the following video: ruclips.net/video/Ux_SKfLYmHk/видео.htmlm31s I also used it to shoot the early videos on my channel, I think the quality from this SQ11 would be next to useless for a dashcam. Do yourself a favour and get a half decent one. On a full charge I managed 57 minutes recording in 720P which used just over 2.5GB of space on the card. So a 10gb card (odd size?) would record just under 4hours in 720P (1080P is just 720 upscaled)

The test was conducted on a "used" camera that I've had kicking about since they were released so it may be a bit better on a new one although my cam hasn't been abused, I'd expect 1080P mode to be less and it's just an upscaled 720P. But i am charging battery 2hours.I was using both video resolutions,but sometimes camera stops recording after 5 minutes sometimes after 15 minutes.I dont get it.Why not 100 minutes??SQ11 MINI DV.Camera turns off after 5-15 minutes.Are there any other reasons why camera turns off??
Ok, I have tested it and here's what happened: Tested on a fully charged SQ11 (The actual one featured in this video) in 720P mode with a decent 32gb card (Sandisk Ultra Class 10) and heres how much it recorded: The First part I restarted after 12mins~ that that resulted in two 5 minute recordings with the remaining 2:16 mins in a third file. The second was for 17:33 with three 5min files and a 2:33 file. Third was 10:05 with three files, 2 5min files and the remaining few seconds in another file. I then left the camera recording untill the battery died which was another 11:22 in 2x 5mins and a 1:33 file. So all in all it recorded for 51:27 in 720P on a full charge, splitting the recordings into 5 min files where applicable. It recorded 2.56GB of data in that time, and was getting quite hot. Hope this helps. On another note I doubt very much a 200mAh batter would manage 100mins of recording ,2mAh of consumption for a min of recording sound like wishful thinking to me. A GoPro Session seems to only do 60-80mins at 1080p30 having a quick look online. Are you in a very hot climate?

Power on and get a single blue LED (720p mode iirc) a quick press of the power button will start the video recording and the light will go out. a quick M press will change to 1080P mode with a red and blue LED, quick power button press starts the recording and leds will go out again. Third Mode with just red LED is picture mode. The other modes are attained with longer presses of the buttons. Hope this gives a bit more concise info for using it.
If only it was even half as good as one! The SQ11,12 and 13 are all **** as are all the other different branded ones like the Hawkfly off the top of my head.I have the sq13 to put a vid out for, but it's just the same old pretty much.
Bought exactly this camera recently, instructions are a joke and I've still got no idea how to use it! You state the buttons are self explanatory but I beg to differ, I've been trying to get this to work for hours and so far I've managed to take a couple of blurry photo's!! No video yet! No reflection on your review, just wanted to comment to others that its NOT easy to use, though it is small. I'm returning mine as I think its rubbish, if it had proper instructions it would be better.
I concur,the instructions are very cryptic to say the least and they could have done so much better with an hours consideration regards the LED feedback and how the instructions were drafted. It makes no sense what so ever to me to have LED's go off to signify recordings taking place! I could live with the idiosyncrasies if only it had the advertised large field of view, sadly this camera is resigned to collecting dust and looking cute on the shelf now.
Maybe I got a defective one, this one's awful. Lousy focus, Color balance is all orange - I know it's only $9 but thats just it - its too cheap to bother returning to China. No more cheap imported plastic crap for me

I was a bit disapointed with it due to the lacking wideangle - The SQ12 is enroute and I hope that it is truely what it is supposed to be,etiher are quite good value if you don't expect too much (as i did).
Thanks for uploading this! My wife surprised me with one of these (it came in the mail a few hours before I typed this). I use several types of cameras to document skateboarding, and though this one isn't the same caliber of camera, I'm in awe of how tiny it is! I have a GoPro as well as a TomTom Bandit 4k, and I thought those were small (which they are compared to my handhelds). Regardless, it looks like it will be a ton of fun to play around with. Great intro vid to the camera, and you're right about the manual... I have perfect vision but will need a magnifying glass to read through it. For $12 (USD), it's quite capable!
It's certainly got it's uses for me. The consensus seems to be that you get better footage from 720P and I would be inclined to think the same.
I bet you could get some great shots sticking this cam down by the Trucks or under a Rail etc! Happy filming!

By using a ir lamp or light outside.
You can mount it to the wall we’ll you want to secure the camera and or you can go outside recording while holding an ir light.
It’s invisible to the naked eye.
But any ir camera will pick up the field of view

I have always used a USB Cardreader, never had any luck getting pc to communication with the SQ11,12 or 13.
When in night vision mode are LED lights completely transparent? In other words, there are virtually NO lights at all (red, blue, white, etc.) visible near the lens in the dark?
The 6 LED's surrounding the lens are all infrared and invisible to the human eye, the only visible LED's are on top besides the buttons.

There are still the normal leds that have a hole near the buttons that illuminate in infrared that may go out when recording.

The video quality on the SQ11 looks much better than that off the SQ8, with a lot better response to light changes and movement.
The two questions I have :Does it have the overheating problem when charging? And does it have the same "how long do I hold the mode button to get it to switch to 1080ip mode?" problem?
Yeah, it's pretty hot while charging, but I assume it's under 50°C. When you press the mode button, it switches instantly to the next mode.The quality is... Well, the photos are upscaled by at least 300%, so the real resolution seems to be 1024x768, and the video quality is worse than a 7-8 years old mobile phone's, but as a novelty or a gift it's pretty nice.BTW, you have to remove the microSD card with a plier, because the slot doesn't have the usual retention / release mechanism.

Once turned on the camera is in video mode showing a blue LED.
A quick press of the power button will start the recording - LED/'s will go out showing its recording ( Its an odd system for sure..)
Mode button to cycle through modes (blue LED 720P video , blue and red LED 1080P video)
Finally just a red LED is photo mode and a quick press will take a photo.
Other functions are done but longish presses (2 seconds i believe) of Mode/Power one turns on infrared (can see if they are on looking the a mobile phone if needed) and motion detection.
Other than what is mentioned above there is not much else in the way of knowing whats going on wit the camera and the final question.I'm not trying to be funy when I say this but the bettery being discharged I presume it wont turn on or might give some strange led flashes.

Ben Portman It is IR sensitive so would imagine that is why. I get black artifacts pointing at the sun.
I'm looking at the possibility of making a night vision air rifle scope. My question about this mini cam is, can I plug in into a small monitor, turn it on with the night vision, and view what the camera sees live? I realize I would need an accessory UV light also. I would only need 7-10 yards range. Does this have a rechargeable internal battery, or does it need constant power to it?

I'll try and facilitate the overall questions from a technical point of view.
Yes you can feed an external monitor according to its specs although I have not tried it and I'll bet any screen you are considering has RCA input (yellow phono jack type thing for the video chan). The internal battery was good for 57mins on 720P recording testing it a few weeks back.
You should be fine powering it internally but if you need longer use you will find that the video out and usb charge cable is all in one so just a matter of a little USB power bank etc. Prehaps you could tap into the acc IR light (I assume UV was a typo as they are at the opposite ends of the light spectrum?)
On a tangent you probably wouldn't need to put it into night vision mode as it doesn't have IR block hence keeping the battery life to a maximum I would expect. 1080P is also just 720P upscaled which may use more power needlessly.
Depending on your application,consider the SQ12. Its exactly the same camera but with less IR leds but wider field of view, I have a vid about it in my recentish uploads).

Hi you don't show how to put in the sd card - I put in a Mircro SD card and it was stuck had to get it out with small tweezers. I think it's supposed to be a TF card, is that right would be bigger than a Micro SD or am I missing something. What should I look for on Ebay as TF Cards are often sold/Described as micro SD cards and visa-versa on some of these devices, but I'm guessing this camera takes a slightly larger card then a micro sd. PROBLEM SOLVED! Okay so I solved the problem by shining a flashlight into the port, it has a small tray mounted on the floor of the port on the right side - If you are expecting a push and click mechanism like most other devices then you might just end up getting the card stuck like I did.
Best way to get the card in is shine a light on the port and make sure the card is flush with this little metal track on one side, there is plenty of room above so just inserting it will get stuck at the back of the aperature. As far as I can tell doesn't click in place, the oval front piece is to remove the card with a fingernail or such.

Have you tested to see if motion detection stops recording after a certain number of minutes? I've heard once activated, it just continues recording, which would thus record over the motion incident after the card is full. Thanks!
I have not tested the motion detect mode to any extent but I'd hazard a guess that that battery would die well before the card was full (tested the battery last night and managed 57 mins on a full charge in 720p mode that generated 2.5gb of data).
From the cryptic instructions it seems to record a 5 minute file once activated. I hope this gives you some info that may help none the less.
Yeah, my thought was to connect it to a powerbank hidden in a storage room. The hope (big hope?) is that it only uses power and records for X minutes after motion is detected so that the card doesnt fill up from continued recording. I'll bite the bullet as Ali Express doesnt seem to have many cheap small cameras for motion detection recording with self-contained batteries that I can find.

Ok, some further info from the SQ12's better manual (Same chipset,internals and operation) states that it will record until there is no motion detected ,while motion is keeping it recording it will be saving incremental files at 5 min intervals until the cards full or the battery runs out.

With a 32 GB card and camera plugged to a charger , how long will the video be recorded for.
It recorded for 51:27 in 720P on a full charge, splitting the recordings into 5 min files where applicable. It recorded 2.56GB of data in that time, and was
getting quite hot.
Max capacity for card is 32GB so you are looking at about 12hours max continuously, if you wanted to use the motion detection you may cover a lot more time.

They are just IR illuminated and have a very short distance

If you look at the SD card on a pc you will find a text file called timerest.txt from memory.
Inside that will be a big string of numbers that represent the date and time and on the end is a Y or N that enabled or disables the timestamp being shown. Just set the character to N and save it.

I'm sorry but I dont know, I would assume it would need a driver if it isn't auto detected, You could also use a card reader.

Just put the micro sd card into a computer and you should see the card as a drive containing the video files.
I'm not sure if you can do it connecting the camera via usb.

I would expect so but cant say for certain, I can say however that I use a Samsung Ultra 32GB Class 10 fine in both the SQ11 and SQ12.

Have u tested it for long usage. I'm planning to use it as hidden surveillance CCTV camera to attach to my vending machine. So motion sensor can record who are approaching my machine. Please advice me mate.
Actually i want to use it at least for 2 or 3 days recording non stop.
The battery is only 200mAh ,It would only do you about 30mins worth of recording, take into consideration the amount of power it might need to be in the On/Motion detection mode and it would not be usefull.
You may be able to run it from a 5V power source or mod it with a much larger battery but then it wouldn't be suitable for you needs I would think?

For a while I mounted mine to a micro quad by disassembling the camera removing the case, battery and leds to connect it directly to the quad's battery.

I believe you press and hold the mode button for 3 seconds to activate it, signified by a few flashes of the blue/red lights depemding which quality mode you are in(720p or 1080p).

My comp wont download the appropriate drivers...not sure why. does this mean I wont be able to get this camera to work... ive tried to record and insert the sd card via USB port but my comp says theres nothing on the card. Now either it didnt actually record anything or.. I need the drivers installed and connect via the camera itself. what do you think? First up, 32bit comp wont be a problem.
Is your card formatted fat32 to start with and what sort of card is it? (64GB is largest stated on the specs but 32gb might be the real limit IIRC)
I've never managed to get drivers for the camera working and always just used a USB card reader.
The last thing I can think to help you is that the lights go off when it starts recording.

I think I would give it a miss and prehaps check the SQ12 for maybe see if you can get an 808 #16 , This cams ok for certain things but it doesn't cut it for RC personally,sadly.

My iMac will not play the AVI files. I get the message "Quicktime can't open "MOV-----.avi"
I'm not familiar with the Apple side of pc's but I beleive that these cameras record in "MJPG (Motion Jpeg)" format video that looks like it was stopped being supported by Apple/Quicktime many moons ago and alot of other places also by default.
Prehaps try uploading it privatly to your youtube account and redownload it as a processed mp4 file or run it through an online converter?
The only other thing to try would be "VLC Player" for OS X etc might support playback.

I find it hard to believe that this camera which seems to be selling by the million will not work automatically with an iMac. Surely something is going wrong!
Regards the RUclips thing,just upload a file to see if it is valid and not corrupted/recorded correctly. I have just uploaded a raw file from the SQ11 to check YT handles which it does: ruclips.net/video/3ZU013IWK58/видео.html
If yours works on RUclips you can then downloaed it in a converted format from your "Video Manager" page.
The codec/hardware that the SQ11 uses is rather old and mostly obsolete however in a world with common sense it should be supported on every platform,but sadly that isn't how tech is nowadays.
Verify that your files recording correctly with the above method then you can move on to diagnosing exactly why it isnt playing on Mac - I would have thougt VLC would have worked though!
RUclips doesn't like the file either.

I saw a video on RUclips showing two types of SQ11 one of which was duff. Mine seems to be a hybrid. The lens and infra red surrounds look like the good version but it doesn't have the QueLima logo on the side. Do you think I just have a duff version?
I'm sad to hear your plight! It certainly seems like yours is faulty - its generating a file that sounds as though it is corrupt/not complete. is the SD card reliable?
I can't speak to what ones are the better ones etc other than personal experience of the one I have which was one of the first ones I believe(It doesnt have any logo), the unit I have has worked fine for the most part - its just very vague in its simplistic feedback of what it's doing( Main bugbear is no singal that its recording).
I wish I could be more definitive in helping you but at the end of the day ,I'm just a end of the line consumer like yourself,however I do symphathise.
Can’t get SQ 11 cam to work with TV, every other feature works fine. What am I doing wrong?
I've never needed to use that feature but seeing as you asked, I thought I'd try it out.
It worked fine while only needing to plug the yellow RCA into the applicable TV input ,turning the camera on displayed the picture straight away for me.
Anybody got a problem like me, I have it plugged in my car and when I turn on ignition and it gets power it starts - blue light, then red light for a second, then three or four blue blinks and then dark... I guess that is recording? But when I turn off power there is no end blink so when I take out the SD card it has a bunch of video files with 0kb.
I'm not sure if it has auto record on power up functionality.
The manual is a bit cryptic about the colours so once plugged into a power source - long blue = charged, red and blue lights = charge apparently.
when battery is insufficient/card full red and blue will flash for 5 seconds and auto shutdown.
I wonder if your battery is charged and ok it might be the SD card maybe acting up, tried to format it or got another?
3 blue blinks is mentioned in 720p mode but most of it doesnt make any sense for the most part! Also some sort of flashing in motion detect mode.
There is a reset button near the usb port that might be worth a shot if nothing else makes sense/works.
Its a shame this camera is plagued by these little problems as it could be quite good if it did what it said on the tin!
Auto record does work, I tried it manually with a charger and it seemed to work most of the time, but not in the car. Tried two SD cards, reset it a few times etc. Hopefully I can figure it out otherwise I will just request a new one.

I went through the source of this 1080p mode recording, it is not frame doubling however it is seemingly variable with an average of 22/23fps, the first second of the file is 10fps with the following second containing 23 frames. A segment of 6 seconds at a random point in the middle of the file produced the following fps: 21,24,23,23,24,22.
This is the Codec info:
Format : JPEG
Codec ID : MJPG
Duration : 5 min 0 s
Bit rate : 19.9 Mb/s
Width : 1 920 pixels
Height : 1 080 pixels
Display aspect ratio : 16:9
Frame rate : 30.000 FPS

Prehaps the lossy compression is why,however the sampled bits are constantly changing frames/footage.
I might look into it further but suffice to say the 1080P mode is not a fixed true 30fps if atall.

Not in any easy way, you might be able to view the videos by plugging the MicroSD card into your phone if poss.

I think red blinking is a charge stage indicator, charging for me goes from blinking red to solid red and then another combination (prehaps red and blue together) when full from memory.

Could be a Codec playback issue, are you able to try it on a different computer or try installing VLC Media Player?

I just received my sq11 but it works only as a webcam. I can't use it to take a picture neither recording video. When i turn on the camera with holding the power button for about 3 seconds, the light keeps blinking red and blue. So that is different than all review that i saw on youtube. Here's what I would consider using after a quick look at my favourite worldwide vendor.
Camera with a transmitter and onboard recording: bit.ly/2zOxTvr
Android USB OTG Receiver with swapable antenna: bit.ly/2AQM6be
Very long range directional antenna: bit.ly/2hCqWce
The camera would be very easy to fit to an RC vehicle and will take between 3.3 and 5.5 Volts so could possibly be run from the power feeding the RC's reciever or a little lipo - It has a good allround antenna for indoor and outdoor aswell as onboard recording including switchable power output.
The USB OTG receiver for android would receive the signal and can take other antenna's for different uses:
For cost,the antenna that comes with it would do ok receiving short range or prehaps medium in open air. A cloverleaf might help for some obstuctions. it has an RP-SMA connector for the antenna
Be sure to check the supported phones on the items page to verify it works with what you have.
Onto the listed long range antenna for the USB OTG receiver, This is for very long range but has a narrow beam width (RP-SMA for the above)
I hope this gives you some idea of what you can do, you could go miles and miles with this setup theoretically, make sure you look into "5.8ghz FPV" if you require more knowledge.

Pretty much,yes. I take the Micro SD card out of the SQ11/SQ12 and use a card reader that turns it into a usb drive type thing.

SQ11 supports upto 64G according to its datasheet (I assume the card came formatted as FAT/FAT32?). The reset button is the little hole next to the charging port.
ok already solved it..it can go only maximum 32GB memory card that can function properly. Now I'm happy to use it..
Glad to hear! double checked the manual which does indeed state 64gb max, it seems the info has been updated on the store page to reflect 32gb max now. I have added a little bit in the description regards the light combo and 32gb sdcard support being maximum for good measure.

It's not that great but it may good enough depending what you require it for. The SQ12 linked in the card(i) top right is a better camera if you can get it for close to the same price ( Has the hardware but a much better wide angle lens)

looking for a cheap camera as dash cam or outside the car, so was looking on this for 10 dollar or a Eken h9r 4k in 25fps for 35 dollar....before I might have bought both, but im cheap now lol
For the right price ,you cant go wrong with the Eken H9 , I have one and use it alot.
the 4K isn't great but the 1080P is very good, I had the H9 on the front of my S800 wing in the onboard FPV of the following video: ruclips.net/video/Ux_SKfLYmHk/видео.htmlm31s
I also used it to shoot the early videos on my channel, I think the quality from this SQ11 would be next to useless for a dashcam. Do yourself a favour and get a half decent one.
My H9 came with a ton of accessorys and have even shot wildlife underwater with great results from it!

On a full charge I managed 57 minutes recording in 720P which used just over 2.5GB of space on the card. So a 10gb card (odd size?) would record just under 4hours in 720P (1080P is just 720 upscaled)

It's supposed to be 30FPS but it seems to drop frames, check some of the replies as the results of some testing is in there somewhere.

Here's information from a test with it a recently for others asking the same thing:
It recorded for 51:27 in 720P on a full charge, splitting the recordings into 5 min files where applicable. It recorded 2.56GB of data in that time, and was
getting quite hot.
The test was conducted on a "used" camera that I've had kicking about since they were released so it may be a bit better on a new one although my cam hasn't been abused, I'd expect 1080P mode to be less and it's just an upscaled 720P.

Maybe its the battery? it is only 200mAh and what mode are you recording in,do you have the IR LED's enabled etc?
But i am charging battery 2hours.I was using both video resolutions,but sometimes camera stops recording after 5 minutes sometimes after 15 minutes.I dont get it.Why not 100 minutes??SQ11 MINI DV.Camera turns off after 5-15 minutes.Are there any other reasons why camera turns off??

Ok, I have tested it and here's what happened:
Tested on a fully charged SQ11 (The actual one featured in this video) in 720P mode with a decent 32gb card (Sandisk Ultra Class 10) and heres how much it recorded:
The First part I restarted after 12mins~ that that resulted in two 5 minute recordings with the remaining 2:16 mins in a third file.
The second was for 17:33 with three 5min files and a 2:33 file.
Third was 10:05 with three files, 2 5min files and the remaining few seconds in another file.
I then left the camera recording untill the battery died which was another 11:22 in 2x 5mins and a 1:33 file.
So all in all it recorded for 51:27 in 720P on a full charge, splitting the recordings into 5 min files where applicable. It recorded 2.56GB of data in that time, and was getting quite hot.

On another note I doubt very much a 200mAh batter would manage 100mins of recording ,2mAh of consumption for a min of recording sound like wishful thinking to me. A GoPro Session seems to only do 60-80mins at 1080p30 having a quick look online.

although i am struggling
Power on and get a single blue LED (720p mode iirc) a quick press of the power button will start the video recording and the light will go out.
a quick M press will change to 1080P mode with a red and blue LED, quick power button press starts the recording and leds will go out again.
Third Mode with just red LED is picture mode.
The other modes are attained with longer presses of the buttons.
Hope this gives a bit more concise info for using it.

Bought exactly this camera recently, instructions are a joke and I've still got no idea how to use it! You state the buttons are self explanatory but I beg to differ, I've been trying to get this to work for hours and so far I've managed to take a couple of blurry photo's!! No video yet! No reflection on your review, just wanted to comment to others that its NOT easy to use, though it is small. I'm returning mine as I think its rubbish, if it had proper instructions it would be better.
I concur,the instructions are very cryptic to say the least and they could have done so much better with an hours consideration regards the LED feedback and how the instructions were drafted. It makes no sense what so ever to me to have LED's go off to signify recordings taking place!
I could live with the idiosyncrasies if only it had the advertised large field of view, sadly this camera is resigned to collecting dust and looking cute on the shelf now.
