    You always know how to put a smile on my face after the long work day.
    Also, the bit where Costello has to pay room rent with the landlord is a classic and a half. 7 into 28 (13x).

    At 1:10,, depending on screen resolution, you can see faint print on the "blank" page. It's just light ink/bad contrast. Shemp was EVERYWHERE and I love that. Joe Besser was not my favorite Stooge, but look at the shoes he had to fill.
    13:28 - Ma Kettle ! I'd love to see some more of Ma and Pa Kettle.

    Bud and Lou rank among the very top duos - like maybe three top, you pick the rank b/c those elites were all so good - in all entertainment. The bloopers are fun and understandable. However, it occurred to me: Given "back in they day" they used used *actual* film, I suspect the industry was a bit more relaxed. Inserting a deliberate prank into a take "wastes film" (an expense). Today, with so much digital filming, one only needs to click on Edit or Erase; back *then*, the extra film for gag take insertions was an expense! Those two were such a genius team and enjoyed a Hollywood which [OK, yeah, had its shadowed side] liked to really have fun making movies.

    They used to play a lot of the uncensored bloopers that included Abbott and Costello during the midnight showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show at the movie theater during the 70's and 80's before it came out on VHS.

    Lugosi was pissed that Barber interrupted his staircase scene. He turned to Barber and said, “You should not be kidding when we are working!” Lugosi then stormed off the set. Poor guy had a lot at stake. This was his 1st A grade movie in many years. He had hoped for a comeback. Of course that didn’t happen. Fun fact. He was 60 at the time.

    Hello TCM, This was great. You did an awesome job. Thanks. I never thought about any Abbot and Costello bloopers since they are always screwing around and causing blunders all the time. Lol.
    I don't know how they did the bullet hole in the windshield, but in slow motion, it looked like they could have thrown salt or sugar to look like the glass was shattering.
    I thought maybe they used a black marker to draw in the cracks and the hole on the glass.
    I also thought they could have stopped filming and put in a windshield w a hole and then threw the salt or powder. I don't know. Im just pulling on strings here, lol.😊.
    Costello's tie might have been a clip-on tie and fell off.
    It kills me when an actor has a hat on, then the next scene, he doesn't, then he does.
    I don't understand why nobody in the studio and onset doesn't catch those kinds of things. You would think an actor would notice if a prop was missing. 😮.
    Take care.

    • @tvcrazyman
      @tvcrazyman  5 месяцев назад +2

      Thanks, I bet things were pretty chaotic filming Abbott and Costello. It's probably a miracle they didn't miss more things. I read continuity was hard to manage because they were always doing the scenes different every take.

    • @glenpolen5562
      @glenpolen5562 5 месяцев назад +2

      @tvcrazyman , I didn't think of how crazy it could get with the scenes being done differently and maybe trying other ideas, etc. Thanks for that info.

    Agree that in the A & C movies that using their real names would have been better. Pre-cable there was a tv station in Worcester, MA WSMW that aired their movies on Saturdays 6pm to 8pm. Station aired the complete Universal and Universal International A & C movie catalog.

    The one with Joe Besser running back and forth to get a cup if water was stolen from a Laurel and Hardy short film called "One Good Turn." Laurel runs back and forth, getting a cup of water until Ollie finally asks him where are you going with the water. Stan then informs him that their tent is on fire.

    Boris Carloff in that other a.a.c. film where he Hypnotizes Lou into Suicide but then turns against him, "You're not supposed to stab me. You're supposed to go after the man in the mirror!" BTW, I think that newspaper Bud was holding up was just extremely small print. Also, Bud and Lou did call each other by the real names in both the Foreign Legion and the Invisible Man.

    I feel that anyone would have been better than Joe Besser; he came off like a whiny, sniveling, little Baby. In my opinion, no one could replace Curly

    • @tvcrazyman
      @tvcrazyman  5 месяцев назад

      Nobody could ever replace Curly, but I think Joe had some funny moments especially in his work with Abbott and Costello. Curly just exploded with energy on screen. I don't think anybody had that kind of energy then or since.
