Dude!!!!! We need more of these vids ASAP!!!!!! I passed on so many guns at gun shows and flea markets because they are in rough shape but after seeing your vids I shoulda bought every single 1
I think it depends more on the price they have it at than what shape it's in. Usually someone sets the price higher to keep it because they want someone who knows what they're getting and why it's that high rather than looking new for twice the money.
Now that I'm all healed from my surgeries were back in business. Next vid is a motorcycle video that's almost complete and the next stage of the 1950 panhead resto. Stay tuned
Your video made my heart flutter! I restored my first gun, an old Iver Johnson 410. I was 10 yrs old. 75 now. Not nearly as impatient, now. Great to see repair instead of replace! Kudos 😊
I have several of these old Browning BARs grades 1 and 2 and i truly appreciate what you did for this fine old rifle! Loved the video! Id enjoy seeing a series of videos like this, especially on the old Browning guns. I also collect the ol A5s have a real soft spot for them. Thanks much for the video!
Great project and video! This restoration was done right with literally every piece being meticulously cleaned and refinished… Obviously not your first rodeo! Beautiful finished rifle at completion!
That is one hell of a restoration very impressed with your ability to do gunsmith work and craftsmanship of a lost art. I have never been so lost for words how great a job you can do.
Close, the guy who owns it told me he forgot it on his boat or deer stand for a sesson ,I don't remember, been two years since I did that job for him. Thanks for the compliment.
I finally found a restoration firearm channel where the guy knows gunsmithing, metal working, and wood working. You wouldn't believe the horrible creators out there just trying to BS their way through. I watched a guy take a $10,000 plus Thompson 1928 auto the other day, and anything from brush on blueing, to treating it like it was a polished turd. You have a new subscriber.
Thank you for the compliment, one of the reasons I started adding the gun resto stuff to the channel was for exactly what your talking about. I came across vids were guy's had know idea what a restoration was, they were painful to watch. I thought I'm doing this anyway might as do a vid. Thanks for subscribing.
Thanks for the compliment means alot to know your work is appreciated. There's a very interesting story behind the name, made a vid about how I got it, if you wnt to check it out you go to the homepage and in the playlist you can find the thumbnail with me in the coma.
All I know is after watching your video restoring that pre war Winchester model 70 i a very big fan of your skills. You Sir are indeed a very talented person. Thank you for sharing how you go about bluing them. I always wondered if you had to plug the barrel. To prevent the bluing salts from getting into the rifling. I have watched a good majority of your videos and I always finish them with more knowledge than I started with. I can’t remember off the top of my head what state your located in??? But me and my family have decided to pull up the stakes in Michigan and move to Tennessee. This state is on a very fast path to becoming another California. Bills are being passed in the dark of the night without the public’s knowledge. All of these bills are completely unconstitutional and to top it all of they keep raising taxes to a unimaginably high level. People can’t afford to survive here very terribly situation. And I’m not one to run but my whole life has been spent in this state. And I ALWAYS vote in the direction of freedom. And it never seems to matter. At any rate thanks for posting another kick a$$ video and sorry for the rant.
Thanks for the compliment means alot to know your work is appreciated. I live in Arkansas but I've lived in Memphis T.N and I don't blame you a bit for wanting to head south, things in this country are changing that's for sure.
Yeah I think the guy told me it was left in the deer stand or in his boat or something these guys in these hill's really don't take real good care of them. Gives me a endless supply of guns to restore for content that I don't have to fake, like most restorations on RUclips. Thanks for the compliment means alot to know your work is appreciated.
@@DeathProofProductions I have my grandpa’s Browning BAR 30-06. I have been trying to get it shooting better. Maybe a rebuild kit and some reloading. Mine is in much better shape than the one you restored. Before you worked your magic anyway. I am still working on the Remington model 11. A lot of light corrosion on the receiver and octagon barrel. Almost done with the wood. You make it look easy. Keep up the good work. Learning a lot from the videos.
Thanks for the compliment means alot to know your work is appreciated. Glad to see you making progress on the 12. Mines all but done, gotta blue the barrel but just don't have the time. Like I've heard before you can't die if you got unfinished projects.
The Browning is basically a copy of the 740 and 7400. The 740 came out in The late 40s or early 50s and the Browning was released in 67. The 7400 is a 740 with some modifications to speed up the manufacturing.
what a beautiful fkng video occurs to me that guns and guitars are two of the few machines that continue to be manufactured with strength and beauty, although polymers have entered the market, you can still get real steel and wood today
Thanks we've got alot more vids like this that were working on. It takes a little more time since I'm not gonna do unprofessional work just to upload a video like some channel's. Plus I had two surgeries last year really slowed the channel down but now that I'm all healed up were back in business.
Thanks for the compliment. You don't plug the bore when hot salts blueing, and you don't want lube on the barrel threads you can apply thread locker but it's not necessary.
The guy never really takes care of his guns in the first place, i think when he brought it to me he said he forgot it in his deer stand for the season or his boat, it's been 2 years since I did the work so I don't really recall for sure.
I always watch you bike videos and this was the first gun video. I really enjoyed it. I dabble a bit with firearms as I’m prior service army infantry and a retired police officer. I have a Remington 742chambered In 308 win its alwayes jamming any advice on how to fix that problem for sure is the little extractor hook it’s just a old mechanism that’s a little confusing lol but any advice ? Thank you
What about barrel warp with all the heating? Especially in the rapid cooling in the darkening process? Not talking sh*t I'm actually curious if this is a concern.
You mean how I didn't show me cleaning it than running the bore scope down it. I didn't figure people cared to see that to be honest. It was a little frosty but still a good shooter.

Beautiful work!

Great work. I’ve got one of these. Roughly what would a restoration like this cost? Thanks
It depends on how deep the pits are but 200 to 600 depending on what model gun is about average.
@ thank you. What state are you in?
Arkansas
Awesome restoration! How did you clean-up the rifling?
Thanks for the compliment, the bore was in pretty decent shape, not perfect but still a good shooter.

Any idea what the original stain color is on these on these old BAR's?
Back then most were the color of the wood itself, they used good grade walnut , maple and other high grade hardwoods and didn't require stain.
@ makes sense. Thanks
Great job!

I would like to know what that white plastic looking stuff was that he used to cover the etching
I use tracing paper to copy the checkering than I transfer that to a very thick tape, then cut it out. Thats what i I put on the rifle.
What’s the story? Was it left outside? Odd rusting And pretty clean under the stock.
