- Keep clothes dry in ziploc bags if needed (especially undergarments)
- Be sure to have all your important documents in a waterproof and movable container
- try to withdraw at least $100 in cash in case debit/credit cannot be accepted due to lack of power
- have a form of entertainment that doesn’t require power (playing cards etc)
- If a generator is too expensive you can buy a “power inverter” that connects to a car battery for about $40-75 dollars (it can charge your phone multiple times or even run a small appliance like a fan.

Colorado native here. I have two family members in Florida. I told them I would pay for their evacuation cost and cover any lost pay. They are going to ride it out and they are in the path! Why the hell would you make this choice? Are you guys that proud or what is the reason you would stay. It's seems stupid to say the least.
I've got several family members being stubborn as well & are refusing to leave. I am just beside myself at this point. They are in complete denial. So sad!!! 😢😢😢

Your State run Citizens Insurance company is INSOLVENT. There are people who never got their claims paid for from Hurricane Ian ! Integrity ? What a load of BS ! The people I talked to in the Tampa area could NOT find gas stations with GAS ! All this time Desantis has told us how many thousands of gallons of gasoline are available - NOT TRUE ! Florida deserves better than this guy ! 🤔

This is major and unlike being an employee at University hospital giving us instructions where to meet at group spots to pick up workers during major shutdowns for snow and Ice storms.
Packed a bag in juvenile 24/7 to stay during road shutdowns for snow. Much more to evacuations where many may leave work if said to die if stay and abandon people who have nowhere to go and can't help themselves during deadly hurricane storms has to be terrifying

I appreciate your efforts Governor. But some of these gas stations are price gouging Florida residents. Some stations are charging $10 a gallon for gas. What a rip off
Construction need to amp up the materials used like tornado structures. I would put tarps wrapped around furniture and knots tied in case water does enter and not just sandbags on the outside.

You have to have a starlink dish and setup for that to work. They should have said this when they first saw the storm. Why he even said anything about starlink is beyond me. Because if you don't have a starlink package you can't get it....

Hurricane Milton is set to strike Florida just two weeks after it was hit by Hurricane Helene, which left more than 220 people dead across six US states, as well as millions without power.
A new study published today by scientists at the World Weather Attribution group finds that Helene’s rainfall was made about 10% heavier by climate change.
Meanwhile, Helene’s winds on the Florida coast were about 13mph stronger than they would have been without human-caused warming.
One key ingredient in Helene’s strength was the exceptionally warm waters in the Gulf of Mexico.
I'm left and dont like a lot things DeSantis, but I think he is doing a good job with the hurricane(s). Except maybe denying some assistance in the past. I hope he asks for and calls up all the help he can get.
