"Finish the fight" It's hard to describe just how much of a cultural behemoth Halo was in the golden era. Microsoft really pulled out the big guns on the marketing campaign. The "Believe" theme on the live action stuff, along with the diorama, made you feel like you were about to experience the end of something special. For the release date itself, there were global launch parties and tie-ins with other big brands in a way which seems commonplace now for some big AAA releases, but there was nothing really on this scale back then. Halo 3 global sales amounted to over US$300 million in the first week, and this was in 2007. At this time, Halo was pushed into the public consciousness and the media landscape in such a way whereby even your offline mam and dad might have heard of it. The hype levels were off the charts, and it's such a fondly remembered time for a certain vintage of gamer. Can you imagine going to a big midnight launch and feeling the electricity in the air? Thank you for being willing to help with men's mental health and suicide awareness. Had a cousin commit suicide in 2018. That same year myself and 2 of my siblings go to a suicide awareness night at a dirt track in Superior Wisconsin. 6 years straight that we've been going
That opening cutscene where that little bit (Master Chief) broke off is the same scene from that live-action short film. That was the entire mission of those two ODSTs, they painted the Master Chief coming in so that the rescue team could extract him. If you paused the live-action film when the injured ODST achieves lock, you'll see it indicate "Sierra-117"!
Don't be afraid of the gravity hammer: the first time you used it there was a suicide grunt holding two grenades and when you smashed the hammer you killed him which set off the grenades. The grenades are what killed you. The hammer is quite good, but not as good as the sword. Still, hit an enemy directly and it's a one hit kill on lower difficulties.
@@arishokqunari1290 yup. The only flood it's not great against are the dead elite flood that have shields. Otherwise like you said, it destroys the bodies.

Always fun to watch your playthroughs! I was laughing so hard every time you said you needed ammo then walked right by ammo dump! Can’t wait for the next one!
I’m watching this on vacation in Mexico. That’s how much I’ve been waiting for this. LEHH GOO!!! P.S. yes the reticle illuminating red or staying blue, does indicate that the enemy is out of range. However, it does not mean you will not hit your target. In game physics dictate that your round grouping will have a larger spread when firing on an enemy with a blue reticle. So if you’re spraying rounds with your AR (continuous fire while holding down the trigger) at a blue reticle distance, less rounds will hit your target compared to when your at a distance where the reticle is red. Using a controlled burst firing pattern while your reticle is still blue should put more rounds on target compared to mag dumping at the same distance. The influence distance plays on number of rounds on target becomes more noticeable in later games like Halo Reach.
to be fair, still looks gorgeous, it might not be the cutting edge anymore, but I would come back to this game more than a lot of modern games...but then this was my golden era for gaming

see i came for the playthrough but i instantly saw the hair. it looked amazing in the video! can't wait to watch one of my new favorite people experience my all time favorite game!
The gravity hammer is just super close range like a sword and has a damage bubble similar to a grenade! You just happened to get a little unlucky, a grunt killed you with a plasma grenade right when you swung the first time (a kamikaze grunt) and the other times you were just outside of its range. The gravity part comes from how it can fling shit out of the way, and because it affects physics you can use it to do faux grenade jumps. Just aim yourself at the spot you wanna land on, look down and the jump/swing the hammer at the same time (sending you up). You can also combine it with a grenade thrown at your feet, timing is key. It’s one of the most fun halo weapons ever and can obliterate a crowd, you just have to get up-close and personal!
Man this brings back some memories. My cousin lived with me at the time so he and I prepped for this launch, as we did with a handful of other game releases back then. We had gone to the store a couple days before and stocked up on a bunch of drinks, energy drinks, sleeping pills, snacks, and quick/easy to make meals. We went and got some food on the way to GameStop, and got there at about 9pm to stand in line for our copies. GameStop also had a “lan van” that came out and they held a tournament in Halo 2 where the top prize was a Legendary Edition of Halo 3, while 2nd and 3rd got a Limited Edition copy. We would chat with the other people around us in line, exchange gamertags and all that. It really was a neat experience. I don’t know if other places did it like this, but our local GameStop had a couple people going down the line before midnight to mark receipts with different color highlighters and sharpies depending on which version you preordered. Then when they opened the doors at midnight there was two people at the door checking receipts for the marks and telling you which line to go in for checkout, then there was someone at the start of each line who would hand you your version, then you just checked out and you were done. It was a very smooth process all things considered. We got our copies at about 12:15-12:20, then hauled ass home where everything was set up and waiting. We stayed up all night playing through the co-op campaign, then we took a break to eat real quick, and after that we jumped into the multiplayer and played that for the rest of the day, trying out the different multiplayer modes with friends and all that. It was so much fun. I don’t think there’s really that same culture of going to midnight releases at your local game store these days. Maybe there is and I just haven’t been paying attention, but I haven’t seen events like that in years. Not like they were back then with the release of Halo 2 and 3, MW2, Black Ops, etc.. I’m really glad I got to have those experiences though. It was like perfect timing because I was in my late teens and early twenties so I didn’t really have to worry about school, and I had the freedom to go stay out late with friends to go to these events and have those experiences. I have such fond memories of those times💚
The green field is a regenerator field. It quickly recharges your shield. The flashbang is also a piece of equipment not a grenade. The blue electrical field is a power drain that drains shields, shuts down vehicles and if you're not in a vehicle if you are to close to it you'll die when it explodes. Grav lifts allow you to mess with the game's physics in ways that weren't possible in the other games. Depolyable cover has been in Halo since CE but until now they were fixed objects in the environment that couldn't be permanently destroyed. Throwing a grenade into a bubble shield full of enemies amplifies the grenade's damage.
In Halo 3, if you're playing co-op player 2 plays as the Arbiter. If you're playing online with 4 players, players 3 and 4 play as a red and blue elite.

I'm a support worker myself, so on behalf of all the young men I try to help, thank you
Fun fact. If you stick a grenade onto the plasma cannon (or the gunner) on a Covenant ship, the grenade will blow off the cannon, it will fall on the ground and you can pick it up and have 200 rounds of a heavy weapon.
I'm still working my way through all the Halo 1 videos, but I'm looking forward to catching up to Halo 3 content. And, after Halo 3, I'm guessing ODST and Reach are on the table too.
I wish i could feel what it was to play this game for the first time again. Man, i miss those days so much. Not a damn thing to worry about just skateboarding and og halos and og cods. 😢
This opening to halo 3 was just beautiful. Just Sergeant Johnson and you know Master Chief just like talking to each other after he just like fell. And like the music while also the arbiter coming in that this entire part the first several minutes had me crying. It just felt like the journey was about to like really start like we about to get in some really deep stuff. It felt very weird not having Cortana most of the game like it just felt so weird with her not there just have it flashes of her but it had to like the atmosphere they were going for in this game.
@LUCYJROBYN It rates up there with 2 of my other most favorite uses of acronyms from the military: SNAFU - Situation Normal, All F**ked Up! And FUBAR - F**ked Up Beyond All Recognition. Things going FUBAR usually comes from a Charlie Foxtrot, unless you are a Marine, then it is a SNAFU... Otherwise know as a regular Tuesday.
fun trivia: Halo 3 is the only halo game to have unique characters for player 2, 3 and 4 during the campaign (and is the the first 4 player coop campaign) Player 2 is the Arbiter, player 3 is iirc one of those space elites from halo 2, player 4 is iirc a blue elite guy e: I looked it up and players 3 and 4 even have names N'tho 'Sraom and Usze 'Taham apparently.
Fun fact: You can actually play as Arbiter in Halo 3's co-op on console & online. Up to 2 other players can play the Elites known as N'tho 'Sraom and Usze 'Taham.
There are two new grenades in this game. First is the spike grenade. It will stick to any surface you throw it at. Next is the incendiary grenade. It's perfect for dealing with the flood.
Oh my god, although I’m not a halo fan. I played this one like 13+ years ago and I always remember the start part and I have mentioned it on this channel before ‘don’t make a promise to a girl, if you know you can’t keep it’ and I even tried out coop mode with two controllers and it’s cool we can control the creature guy.
Lucy, you need to absolutely look up and react to the funny dialogue for all of the halos. When you stare at NPC’s long enough, they can say some pretty hilarious things.
That is what is my favourite thing is about this campaign the Arbiter and the Elites have decided to team up with Master Chief and Sgt Johnson I didn't want to spoil it for anyone
They made you aware during the stream but the red reticle means the target is in optimal range. White-blue reticle means out of optimal range, but the target may still be within effective range
It's not your instincts telling you where to go, it's subtle hints like green and red lights, arrows on the floor (which are reversed when backtracking), one open door amidst all closed ones, etc. In game design this is called conveyance. Modern designers prefer this over HUD indicators or tutorial boxes because it's more immersive. They will also use conveyance like scripting an enemy to interact with the environment to show you that you can do that (like how the brute carried the turret, though there is text telling you you can when using one), make explosive objects very bright red (green for poison maybe with hazard logos), etc. These things are a sort of universal gaming languages designers use to teach and direct players and are done very intentionally.
There are so many easter eggs, interuptable in-game scenes, and examples of environmental storytelling in this game. This is also the game that first introduced terminals. Don't worry you haven't missed any yet. There is also something really fun you can do with the physics engine in this game and a dumpster, but you need three players in order to appreciate it.
If you were to play the campaign with a friend, player 2 is the Arbiter. Halo 3 was the first game in the series where you could play the campaign with up to 4 players online.
13:00 In Halo 3 you have quite a lot of those moments, where you are able to interrupt a scene which seems to be uninterruptable. Thats what makes Halo 3 so great besides many other things.
FUN FACT!!! you can kill the brute chieftain in the first phantom encounter at the beginning of the level!! You need to beat up cpt arbie! And take his fancy rifle before he stands back up!
Idk if anyone told you the relevance of “Charlie Foxtrot”. CF is military speak for “Cluster F***”, which is basically a really bad situation, in this case the Pelicans getting ambushed and shot down. Also you’ll hear “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot”, which is “WTF” lol.
I really feel like they missed a trick by not giving you the 'Hold RB to improve mood' option ie. 'hold Arby' in a tight hug. Anyway, loving the playthrough so far, hope you enjoy the story!

Like someone else said, i found your channel through your call of duty lets plays (World at War specifically) but it turns out you actually have a great taste in video games 😆 really appreciate you raising money for mens' mental health.
Waiting for you to drop this felt as long as the 3 year gap we waited between Halo 2 and 3😅
Ahahah I was trying to keep it authentic!
So great to see you finally playing this one, it's my fav of the series! Good luck with the mission 'Cortana' 😅🙌
oh good god noo....although its worth it, for the "you found me" moment, still kills me to this day :)
Girl, you can't kill yourself with the hammer, you got killed by a grenade.
you can most definitely kill yourself with the hammer. she didn't, but don't slam an explosive barrel with one.
Love the halo series Lucy! Great job!
cant wait to see your end of halo 3 video!! so good
"The Jackals are the worst!"... It was at that moment that she/ Lucyjrobyn became a true Halo gamer... Beware the LASO Lol.
Fantastic stream today, had to run to work, I'll rewatch this 😊
Charlie Foxtrot / C.F. it means "cluster f**k". It is used for when a plan goes completely wrong.
Ahahah love that
@LUCYJROBYN It rates up there with 2 of my other most favorite uses of acronyms from the military:
SNAFU - Situation Normal, All F**ked Up!
And
FUBAR - F**ked Up Beyond All Recognition.
Things going FUBAR usually comes from a Charlie Foxtrot, unless you are a Marine, then it is a SNAFU... Otherwise know as a regular Tuesday.
Loved watching this on the live!
That something breaking off is Master Chief flying through the air
"I need another weapon!" In a room full of dozens of weapons
Yes and doesn’t even walk near to get an automatic refill of ammo. Asks for a sniper then walks over multiple carbines. Cmon you’re better than that.
You're really picking on her for playing the game for the very first time
@@MJA-0330 difference is she's played two other Halo games at this point and the mechanics haven't changed much
@@Shadowpack95 True but people forget sometimes
It’s just a mistake guys 🤷♀️ my bad!
fun trivia: Halo 3 is the only halo game to have unique characters for player 2, 3 and 4 during the campaign (and is the the first 4 player coop campaign)
Player 2 is the Arbiter, player 3 is iirc one of those space elites from halo 2, player 4 is iirc a blue elite guy
e: I looked it up and players 3 and 4 even have names N'tho 'Sraom and Usze 'Taham apparently.
I believe I speak for everyone when I say LETS GOOOOOOOOO! My first real halo experience and still ,bi think , my favourite halo game
Fun fact: You can actually play as Arbiter in Halo 3's co-op on console & online. Up to 2 other players can play the Elites known as N'tho 'Sraom and Usze 'Taham.
Hell yeaaa, this is what we've been waiting for ✊️
Give your sniper to a marine. He'll have infinite ammo
Lucy you are a angel I've been looking forward to watching you play Halo 3 😊🥰
Sgt. Johnson: "Crazy fool.
Why are you always jump ?"
"One of these days you're going to land on something as stubborn as you are !" 😁😁👍
And I don’t do bits and pieces
1:07:08 “this is a straight up horror game, you guys didn’t tell me.” Oh you ain’t seen nothing yet. 😂
Loved watching halo 3 live streams ❤❤❤🎉🎉😉😉
Fun fact: if you play the campaign in cooperative, the second player plays the arbiter instead of a second Masterchief
your face at the end lmao Surprised Pikachu 1:07:19
They made you aware during the stream but the red reticle means the target is in optimal range. White-blue reticle means out of optimal range, but the target may still be within effective range
Now I'm excited for the ODST playthrough
I remember the midnight release and get my halo 3 burger king wapper..😢 happy times..
Lucy is the best master chief. Lol
32:53: "kneel before me superman"
Idk if anyone told you the relevance of “Charlie Foxtrot”. CF is military speak for “Cluster F***”, which is basically a really bad situation, in this case the Pelicans getting ambushed and shot down. Also you’ll hear “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot”, which is “WTF” lol.
I really feel like they missed a trick by not giving you the 'Hold RB to improve mood' option ie. 'hold Arby' in a tight hug. Anyway, loving the playthrough so far, hope you enjoy the story!
