Great video, Barrett! You mention cleaning the resin that has built up on the face plate. Is that something that should be tended to on the drum and inner chamber as well with a solvent like Simple Green? Seems like it might build up over time whereas a regular maintenance routine might make cleaning a little easier.

Not required in the roasting chamber. Probably not really required elsewhere unless there is a lot of buildup. IE your drum is rubbing, trier is gummed up, door gummed up. Would not recommend simple green personally. Probably cafitza on the face is needed.

The newer version has different screws on the faceplate. Any guidance on removing the newer faceplate.

Sorry if I missed this in the video, but is there a recommended time interval (or after a certain number of roasts) when you'd recommend doing this cleaning procedure?

Using a Magnetic Allen wrench would have helped getting the faceplate screws back in.
Also can the drum and front plate be cleaned using Cafiza to remove the burnt on oils?

You can pull the drum and front plate and scrub with cafiza. Works great. Don't recommend using inside the roaster.

Did you acid wash the covers to get the rust look?

Manufacturer chemical treatment process to force rust, and then neutralize the metal to stop the rust. Sealed with a clear coating.

How often we need to clean the drum? Every day? Or after few roasts?

Not a straight forward answer for this. Each bean will produce different amounts of chaff and oils. Average person roasting, as long as you dump chaff bin, every few months. If more commercially, definitely more often.

can the drum and heat shields be soaked in cafiza?
