I think you made a minor mistake with the first one when you multiply the negative with x and +2 wouldn’t the end result be x+1-x-2?
Yeah, as x+1-(x+2) is the same as x+1-1(x+2) and if you take away the parentheses + becomes - , resulting into x+1-x-2
The result is -1/x-1
So I am not the only one who noticed it. Wohoooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Hello Brian, thanks a lot for making this video. When you factored out -2x^2 + 3x - 1 with the negative sign, you forgot to write the ^2 on 2x. You wrote -(2x + 3x -1). It’s -(2x^2+3x-1).
You explain the steps a lot better than my professor. Everything that is confusing, you make it seem really easy to understand.

I'm convinced it's better to just multiply the denominators and simplify from there.
LCD just isn't worth it when it comes to complex rational expressions.
You'll get the same end result (remember to simplify) and suffer less of a headache.
Hello there, I am bit confused with 3rd Question - After you found common denominator x + 1, x +2, why did you not multiply Numerator 5x - 1 with x + 2, like you did on Right side of equation with 2x ?
because that one already had (x+1) (x+2) rather the rational expression with 2x only had one of them so you need to have both.
Because what it needs is only x+ 1 on the right side to get a common denominator. The left has a complete set (x+2) (x+1) so, you can leave it as it is.
question for the first problem you did. When you distributed you didn't put a negative for the 2 so -x-2. why is that I'm a bit confused there

@9:20 5x-1-2xsquared-2x becomes 3x-2xsquared-1/. Why can we subtract to get x? (3x-2xsqu = x)
You have to multiply constant of a ax^2 to the last terms and then try to split the middle term of quadratic equations ax^2 + bx + c to the "c" which is in this case is 2

You forgot to write the exponent of 2 on the first term when you factored out the negative sign -> 8:51 to 9:00.

What if you have a rational expression with no variables in the denominator like this one 3x/8 +y/8? in this case I have a common denominator already however am uncertain how to solve.
So do you have to factor out the numerator for the final answer if possible or is it okay if you don't?
