@@sportbiketrackgear There's also new GP Ignition suit coming shortly, hope you'll get hands on that one as well, cus these two will probably be very close and hard to choose between. Your reviews help a ton, keep them coming !
Brian, having two kids around the same age my son also tells people he’s 6 feet tall as I’m 6’2”. He’s not. To prove it, I had him be properly tested for height (not by just using a measuring tape) and he now has a photo showing he’s not there yet. Love seeing tech improvements to racing gear. I still have and can just fit into a top of the line Dianese suit from the mid 90’s. Night and day difference between the one on show and that one. Keep up the great work. 👍😎🇦🇺
Got it today, i got size 50 as my GP Force Chase 2pcs with chest and back protectors fitted and the new one is tiiiight, almost impossible to put on by myself...almost got a claustrophopic attack trying to take it off😅
The leather used in this suit is completely different. It is designed to feel and move more like Kangaroo than cowhide. The stretch panel they are using on the sides of the torso is also pretty slick IMO (lighter and better venting). This suit uses larger panels of leather and is a bit lighter than the GP Tech V4. Hope this helps! - Van
Cant figure out if it is more of an orange or red color, here it looks more red but everywhere else on the internet it looks orange. And whether or not the red fluo color fits together with ducati red
IMO either of these suits would work well. If I had to pick I would go with the Plus V4. I like the new leather and the large panels they used in this suit. - Van
I have a hard time with sizing. I have a muscular 42 inch chest and a 30 inch waist. So it's either too big in the waist or too small in the chest and shoulders. Super frustrating.
The Alpinestars catalog is very wide with a lot of crossover items. US distributors have been picking the best items for our market and focusing on them rather than offering the entire range. Personally I agree with this strategy and feel it had been an improvement. We only need some many different models of suits from Astars in this market. - Van
While you could replace the armor if you like I am confident the Level 1 is going to get the job done and so is Alpinestars. If they believed the Level 2 was necessary it would 100% be in the suits. - Van
Great review as always. Plus how you and your son joke each other makes it funny. If you had to chose between this and the gp tech v4 (being more expensive) what would you do?
I feel like these suits are pretty darn close and have to say I like this one a little more. The new treatment they are using on the leather makes a difference for sure. - Van

Comparing the two head to head I prefer this one over the GP Tech V4 a bit. I like the new leather they are using, the new stretch on the torso and the light weight. - Van
Hey Brian, always love the videos you guys do. I notice that all the new Alpinestars suits are not supporting the tech-air race vest anymore. Any reasons? Or is it anyway possible to wear it with this suit? Cheers!
That is because they are taking it out of production. There are still a few other brands like 4SR and RS Taichi that produce suits that will accept the Tech Air Race Vest. - Van
I’m about 210lbs and 6’1. Should go for a size 56. Ordered a size 58 because I thought I’d be needing some extra room for a possible airbag vest. Received the suit today, tried it on and it’s too big. Shoulders and arms are ok, waist is ok, hips are ok, back is too wide, and especially the legs are way too wide… swapping it for a 56…
ive got a few question coming up from this, what do the gp r protection offer as they are ce level 1 as opposed to ce level 2 inserts like their nucleon flex pro, why are the extrnal protection also level 1 and not 2? which is better for overall city and the track?
The armor in the race suits offers a larger coverage area and is typically thicker than the stuff used in street gear. We have crash tested several suits over the years and cna say with confidence the Level 1 armor has gotten the job done and then some. Personally I feel confident riding in either Level 1 or Level 2 armor. If you are really interested in increasing your level of protection you need to be riding in an airbag. That is a massive upgrade from standard protectors. - Van
Great review as always Brian. Regarding sizing, I’m the same height as your son and 160lbs. I’ve tried the A-stars GP Tech v4 in a US38 with the Tech Air 5 underneath and the fit is great, snug but great. Thinking about Max’s comment in the video about sizing up to a US40 if he were to wear the Tech Air 10 underneath, would you recommend me going up a size too or should I stick with the US38? Keep up the great work guys!
If you are going to wear the Tech Air 10 I would suggest you go up to the 50 Euro as well. We had Max in a 48 Euro GP Tech V4 and it ended up being a little tighter than he liked with the 10 under it. Thank you for watching and for the kind words. - Van
Long time customer and fan; question about fitment, on any Alpinestars suit really: my current suit (purchased from STG) is the Alpinestars Atem one piece leather suit. My problem is my body size, I'm 6'5" and 180 lbs; my Atem is size 56 Euro. While it does fit, it's a bit of a clown suit fit width wise for my lanky frame. Are there ANY other suits that would fit me better, from your experience with customers? I've crashed the Atem twice, so it's on it's about to be retired. Thank you.
Thank you for your business. To get the help you need please shoot an email to Max Van on maxvan@sportbiketrackgear.com. Max will help get you into a suit that fits. - Van
While I am sure it is I do not see the reason to do this. Race suits have used Level 1 armor for a long time now and it has proven to do a solid job in the event of a crash. I do not believe there is a massive real world benefit to the Level 2 stuff. If you want to take the protection to the next level get an airbag system. - Van
Hi Brian, I bought a tech air 10 from you. Alpinestars talks about needing 4cm around the chest for a non-tech air compatible suit like Dainese. If the suit you’re reviewing in this video is tech air 10 compatible, how “snug” should it fit. Max was saying he’d go up 1 size, but is that just for comfort or needed so it inflates properly?
There are enough stretch panels in this suit that is could fit tight and still allow for the airbag to deploy. Max would go up one size to increase comfort and mobility in this suit. - Van
Im about 5’7 and like 130 pounds. I got the 48 because the 46 was really snug im hoping when I try on the 48 when it comes that it won’t be too big of a difference or not right to wear it. I do more supermoto and sometimes standing on the bike. Is going up a size from a your normal snug fit really detrimental or bad for a crash ? Or the operating purpose of the suit. It’s only usually lose in some areas like where the stretch material would be
Great vid, Im 5;6 and wide but flat gut, its muscle trust me! I have a busted missile tech 5 suit, Eur 50 fits in general little long in the arms, I have a 48 Dianese thats too tight, how does the BOY being 5;11 wear a 48?
He weighs about 150 and is pretty symmetrical and wears a 48 - 50 Euro in pretty much every suit. At 5' 6" you will find the arms a little long in many suits. Take a look a the RS Taichi next time, their sleeves are a little shorter than most. - Van
I need some help to get my first suit. which one is better? alpinestars GP PRO V2 or GP plus V4? I want to get tech air compatible suit. I'm open to other options too
If you want to use a Tech Air Race vest you will need the GP Pro V2. The GP Plus V4 is compatible with either the Tech Air 10 or Tech Air 5 system. If you are open to other options I would recommend looking at the RST Airbag Suits we have on our site. Here is a link to them: www.sportbiketrackgear.com/rst/?_bc_fsnf=1&Product=Race+Suit+%281+Piece%29
What size would you recommend me if I’m 6’ 175 average build? I have a astars missile in 52 euro and it’s tight in the knees and short in the torso and very restrictive in the shoulder area.
Does this fit looser than previous gen Alpinestars suites? I have the Alpinestars Atem v3 in the same size your son is wearing (48 euro), and I'm 5'6" 145 lbs and it was painfully tight for the first 40-60 hours of use. I was planning on going up to size 50 for this model, but it looks loose fitting for 5'11'' guy. I was not wearing an air bag.
This suit is cut a little larger than the Atem V3 which has a slimmer cut compared to the rest of the line. You should get a good fit from the 48 Euro in this suit. - Van
Great review! About to purchase my first race suit in looking at this model. Does it have a pocket insert for your back protector or do you need to purchase a protector that you were separately with shoulder straps?
No this suit will not allow for use of the Tech Air Race. It does not have the attachment points you need. It can however be used with the all new Tech Air 7X when wearing it in the vest configuration. - Van
Hi Brian, I’m a 6ft1 195lbs 33-34inch waist. Between the GP Plus V4 and Fusion Suite which one would be more ventilated? Would size 54 fit me? Thank you in advance. I do plan to get either the tech-air 5 or 10 depending on the suit.
A size 54 will get you a tighter race fit, size 56 will get you a little more operating room and help to manage the addition of the airbag. While both suits vent well the fusion suit will move a little more air. - Van
Hi, I also wanted to buy this tracksuit. I wear USA size 40 . 72 kg. 178cm . But if I use the Tech Air 10 (which I bought) do I have to use the USA size 42? A thousand thanks
It will depend on how the size 40 US fits you. If you have enough room under the suit to allow for wearing and a deployment of the Tech Air 10 no need to change the suit size. I think you may need the 42 US given your measurements. - Van
You would get the same fit as you see in this video from Max. He is wearing a 50 Euro in the video with a tighter race style fit. If you prefer more operating room go up to the 52 Euro. - Van
Hey Van. Been watching your videos here in the UK for quite a few years. Always find your info and detailing of products very useful. Anyway….I’m 6ft, 175lbs and size 31/32” waist. I used to wear a Euro 52 in my Alpinestars Race Replica suit back in 06 to 09 when racing. That’s all passed now having a family, but I’m looking to get another 1 piece again. GP PLUSV4 OR GP TECH V4. What’s your thoughts on the two compared with each other? Weights, tech and safety? Tech suit has been out a while I think? Maybe Max would also have a view as he’s tried both? I probably wouldn’t bother with air systems…just the good ol back protector and chest protector. I always found the Race Replica suit tight in the legs and arms hence why a size 52, but once paired up with a chest and back protector it worked well. I’m assuming the sizing on the newer stuff (TECHV4 and GP PLUSV4) is the same or have they improved the fit. Cheers 🤟
Both are nice, if I am choosing between the two I like the GP Plus model. For sizing I would stick with the 52 Euro, this should get you a good fit. The sizing was updated a few years back so this suit will be a little roomier than the model you had in the same size. - Van
Hey Brian, First of all, thanks for all the videos during the years, can't thank you enough! Now for my question, why you guys never talk about the weight of a racing suit or provide us with the weight in the beginning of each video? (in this video you did mention it was light but you know what I mean) I've been using Spidi suits for past 20 years and for the past 12 I only ride at racetracks. From my own experience the Spidi's are far lighter and easy to move in then any other suit I've tried, especially A-stars. I think Revi't are the closes I've seen to Spidi. To be honest I never had a chance to weight the suits though as I won't carry my weight to the store :) Is it possible to do a weight comparison because I think it is very important when you're racing, as a lighter, easier to move in suit will help with maneuverability and fatigue... Anyway, just thought I'd ask that as it was bothering me for quite some time :) Thanks for the videos man and keep up the good work!
hi Brian , thanks for the great video. I'm 183 cm ,102 cm chest , 87cm waist, 96 cm hip ,85 cm inner leg , 70cm arm, weight 77 kg, and have athletic shape , and i just use back protection. what size do you recommend? Thanks
Brian, I’m 5’10 185lbs athletic build. Would you recommend 52 or 54? I’ve tried on a 52 missile v2 and everything was nice and snug except for the forearms, they were very tight when bending my arms.
I ordered this suit and the fit is great overall (180cm tall and 84kg so 5'11" and 185 pounds) The only Issue I am having, despite very athletic stature (hence size 54 due to chest, shoulders, arms and legs) and slim belly is that the suit puts a lot of uncomfortable pressure on the belly and lower stomach when leaning forward on the bike, making it pretty much too uncomfortable to wear. Is this issue less in the Ve Tech due to Kangoroo leather and different fit? It is strange in the first place that the suit is so tight on the stomach, as my waist and hip are rather a size 50 and the suit is size 54, yes is way too tight and squeezing in that area. Do I need a different fit? Regards from Switzerland Best Denis

To be honest I never had a chance to weight the suits though as I won't carry my weight to the store :)
Is it possible to do a weight comparison because I think it is very important when you're racing, as a lighter, easier to move in suit will help with maneuverability and fatigue...
Anyway, just thought I'd ask that as it was bothering me for quite some time :)
Thanks for the videos man and keep up the good work!
We will look at adding the weight to the videos now. If you want a light suit that is easy to move in the RST V4.1 Kangaroo Suit is the ticket. - Van

Thanks for the reply man.
I'll have to check if we have it here in Israel...
Thanks!
Hi. Is it also compatible with tech air race? Or only tech 10 and 5..?
This suit is not Tech Air Race compatible. - Van
hi Brian , thanks for the great video. I'm 183 cm ,102 cm chest , 87cm waist, 96 cm hip ,85 cm inner leg , 70cm arm, weight 77 kg, and have athletic shape , and i just use back protection. what size do you recommend? Thanks
A size 52 Euro will get you a race fit (tight) and a 54 Euro will get you a more comfortable fit that offers a little more operating room. - Van
Brian, I’m 5’10 185lbs athletic build. Would you recommend 52 or 54? I’ve tried on a 52 missile v2 and everything was nice and snug except for the forearms, they were very tight when bending my arms.
I would go with the 54 Euro for you. - Van
This or the fusion suit? Thanks!
I really like this suit a lot. The leather they used on this suit is super soft and increases comfort and mobility. - Van
Brian, I’m 6.1ft, 190lbs, chest 42, waist 37. I want to buy the Missile V2 Ignition. Should I get the size 54 or 56?
Hi Brian, Im 5’9 weighing 86kg what size in alpinestars gp plus v4 1pc suit do you recommend? Thanks
I would put you in a size 54 Euro for a race fit and a 56 Euro for a comfort fit with a little more operating room. - Van
I bought this suit from STG about a month ago. Definitely lighter and a all around upgrade from my old missile suit. 👍
Thank you for your business and sharing your feedback! - Van
Also swapped my Missle 2 Ignition for his, its definetly softer and ligther and I love it
Hey brian! Im a 96 (tall version) in my dainese laguna seca 5 suit. 5'11 135 lbs (tall and skinny) what size would you recommend in this suit?
I would suggest a size 48 Euro for you in this suit. - Van
Is this the most ventilated suit? I'm looking for the best in this regard to buy with you guys
Regards from Switzerland
Best
Denis
Hey Brian, is this suit Tech Air Race compitable?
No it is not. You would need to use something like the Tech Air 7x or the Tech Air 5 with this one. - Van
I remember the early videos when Max was young , I like the new ones where Max is giving you crap Brian, great job both of you!
I love having the opportunity to work with this young man! Blessed - Van
5'6" 150lb 32 inseam with a tech air 10 should I go 48EU? I feel 50EU might be too lengthy?
IMO you will need the 50 Euro with the Tech 10 in this suit. - Van
Stop tempting me. I just bought a new suit. 😭
This is a pretty sweet one piece... - Van
"Maybe" 😂
A little back and forth with the kid is always interesting. - Van
