People misunderstand what a inner rotor kit is. It is a magneto, that uses a magnet as a rotor, and a pickup that sends voltage to the coil, and spark to the plug. Depending on where the timing is set (business card gap) will determine at what rpm the max spark is delivered. The cdi (rev box) is a programmed piece to curve the ignition (advance at higher rpm/make spark happen sooner) to make sure it retains optimum spark timing to 12,500rpm.
Pretty much. You will need to trim off about 1/8 or 3/16 inches off the thread of the crank. This is because the crank is a bit longer and will rub on the left side cover if you don't cut it. Also, this will only allow you to run an IRK. To use a standard 12v ignition and flywheel, you'll need to replace the left case, and the shift shaft. So for the IRK, a CRF50 crank with the threads cut 3/16" on the ignition side will work just fine.
Yeah, it floated the front wheel just off the ground. It will do wheelies in first, second, and third at full throttle. The plate is a PITA to fit by hand, I just put in in part way then let the screws do the rest.
It's pretty quick for it's size. It's quicker than a CRF150R in a straight line until it tops out and the CRF goes on to a higher top speed. On the track I run its only competition is other 50 based bikes.
The eBay IRK worked fine up to a certain RPM at which it would start cutting out like a rev limiter but very rough with backfiring and not at a high RPM. The Kitaco IRK works great at all RPM's. The symptoms I noticed on the eBay part don't happen to all the kits but I've heard other people report the same problem I was having.
The proper tool to remove the Phillips head plate screws is an impact driver, this is a spring loaded hand tool you hit with a mallet. The impact in, and spring twist unlocks impossible screws you would otherwise strip. You can buy one from eBay with bits for ~$40. The business card gaps the pickup to a proper spot, no need to set crank position for the plate install. Also, the keyway on the crankshaft will keep the rotor where it needs to be.
@TheAlexManVideos i heard that putting one of these on a pit bike engine will ruin your crank bearings because the engine becomes unbalanced because the clutch basket is still heavy and but the rotor is light which puts pressure on the one side of the crank is this true?
Good to know. Thanks. I have no problems working inside a motor so thats no big deal. I was going to get a Z50 and use the forks and swingarm off a parts 1984 XR 80 I had to make it a little longer. Then build the motor with an 88cc kit, race head, IRK, and an XR 70 carburetor (i have a 70 motor with a hole in the case).
The clutch is on the crank, not on the cam. I am aware that the cast clutch baskets can explode from RPM and fast RPM changes, it is for that reason that I use a billet machined and hard anodized clutch basket.
Haha, no. It's just an overflow reservoir or catch can. In the case of an accident, gas from the carb vents will flow into the catch can instead of on the track. For supermoto and most on pavement racing it is required to prevent spills on the track which is very slippery.
I have a 35 dollar ebay inner rotor on my chinese pit bike and I've had it for quite a while and have never had any problems with it cutting out or any problems whatsoever.
TheAlexManVideos Another great video. Just one question is that a stock Crank? will it work on a older 6 volt engine without a newer Crank from a 12 volt motor? Thanks MIke
Take out plug shove rope down plug hole until you can't any more then you'll prevent the Piston from coming up to top of cylinder which the makes you able to tighten the flywheel
Does it matter what position the crankshaft is in when you install the Rotor kit? Like ignition or exhaust timing? And what shall the Trigger be in for a position? Full up or full down? Please respond! :)
@TheAlexManVideos if i put one of these on my 110cc pit bike engine will it destroy my engine and if so how long will it take to do so, thanks for the reply and love the videos.
for the wires, u just connect the two main wires the ones from the stator and coil. (black to black white to white) the kill switch black wire plugs into the extra slot on the black wire coming from the stator, the green wire gets grounded to the frame, hope this helps some of you guys.
@jamesm060191 Nope. That makes no difference. Balance only matters on the plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation. Your car engine has a huge flywheel + clutch/torque converter on one side of the crank and only a pulley on the other. It makes no difference. But if you have a crank mounted clutch on your bike, the cast basket usually shatters in time.
Like I said in the video, you can't mount it anywhere where it will vibrate. The vibrations at high RPM's make the ignition cut out. It's like a rev limiter at a low RPM and it sounds like shit. Just backfires.
Not without a crank adapter. And it won't work with your stock ignition coil or lights if you have them. Short answer, no. Long answer is anything is possible if you're willing to swap a lot of parts.
i have a motovert expert 140cc, i bought a rotorkit a few days ago and the two screws on the spark plate, wont come out, it's impossible! please help! how should i do?
@jamesm060191 I don't own a Chinese engine and don't like working on them. Because of the hard to source parts and difference in design I can't say what will or won't work on your engine. In general, however, a crank mounted clutch doesn't like inner rotor kits.
I've been calling and looking around but everyone is telling me that they are not available from the manufacturer, so maybe kitaco is not making them anymore, I'm not sure but I'll keep looking. Thanks for your help!!!👍💪✊🍻✌
I don't remember the wire colors., the kit should have come with instructions. It just plugs into the harness and grounds the system killing the spark.
Used a hammer to knock it lose off the crank ( if the flywheel is what your calling a stock basket.) Always check for cracks after removal/before install.

Bro that pm cam cover Is sick, thanks for all ur vids man they help a bunch
It works the same on any engine. It just makes the revs rise and fall faster. Doesn't increase power.
The clutch is on the crank, not on the cam. I am aware that the cast clutch baskets can explode from RPM and fast RPM changes, it is for that reason that I use a billet machined and hard anodized clutch basket.
CRF50 crank is identical except for flywheel taper. It will work to use an IRK on your 84.
Only on 88 and newer motors. The older ones use a manual tensioner.
Haha, no. It's just an overflow reservoir or catch can. In the case of an accident, gas from the carb vents will flow into the catch can instead of on the track. For supermoto and most on pavement racing it is required to prevent spills on the track which is very slippery.
OEM is Original Equipment Manufacturer. So OEM parts for the engine are Honda but OEM tires would be IRC.
@TheAlexManVideos that's what i heard to, but parts are extremely easy to find for the Chinese engines where i live in the u.k
Depends how old it is. Unless it has CDI, it probably won't fit. The crankshaft taper is different.
It will be the same process. You will need to set the timing again, however.
The bike is 108cc. 52 mm bore, 51 mm stroke.
I have a 35 dollar ebay inner rotor on my chinese pit bike and I've had it for quite a while and have never had any problems with it cutting out or any problems whatsoever.
is that like a DIY boost bottle cable tied to the side there ?
TheAlexManVideos Another great video. Just one question is that a stock Crank? will it work on a older 6 volt engine without a newer Crank from a 12 volt motor?
Thanks
MIke
@TheAlexManVideos What the pros and con vs outer rotor kits and inner rotor kits?
The Kitaco may have been higher quality, but did it's screws come prestripped?
i bought a inner rotor kit to my Honda monkey.... can you give me a demonstration how you did the wiring? please answer as soon as possible:) thanks!
how many cc engine is that?, very nice rotor kit damn thats fast
man you are really good with this engines man im wodering would a kitaco be good for a 150cc pit bikes
That's a newer crank. The IRK only works on 12v ignitions cranks.
TheAlexManVideos is this bike a 84? I have a 84 engine and am wondering what 12 volt crank is the best to use to convert from 6 volt.
Thanks
Mike
How did you tighten the flywheel nut? Kind of a novice question but I can't figure out a way to keep the crank from spinning.
Take out plug shove rope down plug hole until you can't any more then you'll prevent the Piston from coming up to top of cylinder which the makes you able to tighten the flywheel
Did you have to use the inner rotor kit harness only?
Ah ok thanks. I think I understand now. I need a newer crank with a different tapper to use the IRK on a 84 correct?
Thanks
Mike
Hey what is the purpos of the bottle thats zip tied to the skid plate ?
where is the counter weight? doesn,t come with it?dont you need that?
Why did u pass the main part the wireing
Does it matter what position the crankshaft is in when you install the Rotor kit?
Like ignition or exhaust timing? And what shall the Trigger be in for a position?
Full up or full down?
Please respond! :)
@TheAlexManVideos if i put one of these on my 110cc pit bike engine will it destroy my engine and if so how long will it take to do so, thanks for the reply and love the videos.
if u will tune up your motorcycle.. how can u locate the T mark? or timing? on the fly wheel
cool sounds good and the bike looks good to :D
So for the kill switch you just plug in the black wire to the frame
and ground the green one right?
for the wires, u just connect the two main wires the ones from the stator and coil. (black to black white to white) the kill switch black wire plugs into the extra slot on the black wire coming from the stator, the green wire gets grounded to the frame, hope this helps some of you guys.

So what year is that engine an how big cc your sylinder is? Sounds nice and goes to!
I have normal spark but it wont start the inner rotor is put on it in the correct way please help!!
Like I said in the video, you can't mount it anywhere where it will vibrate. The vibrations at high RPM's make the ignition cut out. It's like a rev limiter at a low RPM and it sounds like shit. Just backfires.
You can hear me revving it at the end. Yes it's very noticeable.
Not without a crank adapter. And it won't work with your stock ignition coil or lights if you have them. Short answer, no. Long answer is anything is possible if you're willing to swap a lot of parts.
TheAlexManVideos will this kitaco kit work on my 1994 cr125 motocross dirtbike?
AH ok great thanks again. That clears it up I fully understand now.
Thanks
Absolutely. The $35 kit barely works. The Kitaco one in this video is the original kit that the $35 kit tried to copy. This one runs way better.
do you think a 27mm carb will work better on this bike? thanks
did you put a new oil slinger or not?
i have a motovert expert 140cc, i bought a rotorkit a few days ago and the two screws on the spark plate, wont come out, it's impossible! please help! how should i do?
Do you think a 1985 ATC 70 rotor will fit on a 2002 XR50?
Wow that 50 rips is that from the new rotor?
does this kitaco inner rotor kit work on the 140cc / 150cc lifan aswell as it works on the 110cc / 125 cc?
But how much quicker? Is it noticeable at all?
what size engine is it? sounds like it has a lot of torque
Hi! Where I can get that Inner rotor kit? Online shops?
how to you wire up the stop switch for the china irk?
to catch overflowed fuel and oil to keep a track tidy
Does this fit points ignition motors?
would this inner rotor make a big defference on the stock engine?
if ur motor is honda wave 100?? it will work or not?
How much faster does it actually rev? Is it a noticeable difference?
What engine and carb are u using?
what about timing??
@jamesm060191 I don't own a Chinese engine and don't like working on them. Because of the hard to source parts and difference in design I can't say what will or won't work on your engine. In general, however, a crank mounted clutch doesn't like inner rotor kits.
Search my uploads for Z50R. I have a lot of videos already that answer your question.
hey alexthemamvideos
does this inner rotor kit got a rev limiter's or does it keep reving
on my oil pump im pretty sure my teeth are worn badly. like there is no teeth there. what do i do and if i ride it will if fuck up on me? thanks
Love that style bike
What do you do to balance the other side of the motor?
Hello sir, love the bike. I wanted to know where you ordered the inner rotor kit from??????????? Thank!!!!👍👍💰🍻😎
I think I ordered it from HondaMiniTrail. Any Kitaco dealer should be able to get it for you though.
I've been calling and looking around but everyone is telling me that they are not available from the manufacturer, so maybe kitaco is not making them anymore, I'm not sure but I'll keep looking. Thanks for your help!!!👍💪✊🍻✌
Can you use a performance CDI with that?
I don't remember the wire colors., the kit should have come with instructions. It just plugs into the harness and grounds the system killing the spark.
@TheAlexManVideos Any reason why the stock basket shatters ?
Used a hammer to knock it lose off the crank ( if the flywheel is what your calling a stock basket.) Always check for cracks after removal/before install.
does it actually make any difference when you ride
Hey Alex, can you give me the specs of this engine? Sounds awesome , looks afwesome and seems to be going like a rocket!
where can i get that rotor and how?
Where do i get 1
108 Stroker from Honda TB.
No, that's the 108cc bored and stroked motor with a huge carb and pipe.
hey how much mm is that adjustor ?
It comes with its own CDI. You can't use another CDI.
@joeytyls you dont have to!
This doesn't raise the redline, the engine just gets to the same redline quicker.
why does it sound like u have a knock in the motor??
Does it generate enough power? (a very late question :D)
Enough power for what?
@@TheAlexManVideos Like enough power to charge the battery and power the lights. Sorry for bad english :D
It has no lighting coil. It's only able to produce power with the purpose of running the engine, no accessories.
@@TheAlexManVideos Okay. Thanks!
No. I paid $129. Dollars. Call and ask if it still costs $129, they will probably say yes.
Thats one fast bike!!
did you realy pay £299 for it
@Markus4160 It's a 24mm Shengwey. It's a knockoff of a Keihin.
hello,
kitaco innerrotor is nice but its not good for your clutch plates you have cluch on cam shaft
its better for clutch on gears
greets Vincent
108.
That sucks...another question...how
Interesting! Thanks:)
the slack in the chain is bullshit because he is held by a tension spring
Ah ok thanks
oh i did not now
my bike has one
I don't know. I never work on Chinese engines.
HOW THE FUK DO YOU HOOK UP THE WIRES!!!
