I wonder if its because the album art is too "colorful"?.....as ridiculous as that sounds, i wouldnt put it past some people to have something as arbitrary as that, completely skew their outlook on the actual record.....If anything, it makes it sound a tad more evil, giving that mindset of uncertainty, rather than your usual cliches that death metal fans are accustomed to
The production sucks ass, that's why. If this album were to be remixed it would be no doubt one of their best. Oh, and the huge amount of filler (bonus?) tracks at the end are also unnecesary (or so I've heard/read).

The production has grown on me , maybe bc the songs and riffs are just that good that it doesn't matter? After countless plays the lack of production quality does give it its own feel. I love this album.
It could be a lot worse like old black metal. This is not a production issue, it's just a strange guitar sound as if played out of cheap distortion pedal.

This has got to be one of the best songs ive heard. Love the last half of the song. Its like a jam session. Their playing off each other. Kind of like a jazz thing. Trying to out do one another.
Those who hate this album simply don't understand Trey's artistic direction and songwriting in this album. The production was not some failure as people think, trey did this on purpose by mixing his usual JCM900+RAT gear with a solid state. That + the wind raft technique + the counterpoint writing simply created an album which was above the understanding of the osdm revival bros with the skiing sunglasses (lol)
Trey is an extremely spiritual guy. If you ever read an old interview or read what he writes on the vinyl covers its very clear has done lots of research into various spiritual beliefs and principals.
This song is a testament to the genius of Morbid Angel's songwriting. I wish this album was way more popular.

I don't know, I love all their work... I can easily listen to each album from start to finish because it's all Morbid Angel!

I think this is where (early) Gojira took inspiration from. This is my first time listening to this album and I am absolutely loving it!
