I worked in market research at GM for years and years. And while its not the same as polling, its damn close. And personally, I think any data that says an incumbent president would fair worse in the election than a last minute replacement, especially when that replacement is Kamala, I believe to be utterly falsified, or at the very least skewed, if I'm being generous.

Polls that show Trump this far ahead are pretty clear. Biden needs to win the popular vote by several points to win the electoral college. Trump ahead by this much (or just even) is insurmountable barring some drastic change.
Not true. Most of the popular vote advantage comes from California. The Rust Belt is stagnant. If CA goes redder but remains solid blue that would upend this theory. See the midterms. NY and CA had redder districts, but Dems still won the swing state elections.

I think that he was probably allowed to stay in for that basic reason, and to allow time for the necessary back room deals to find a suitable replacement. Registered independent here. Never wanted Trump and don’t want Trump 2.0 but I do like JD Vance profile and policies so I’m rationalizing that I’m really just voting for the VP pick. I can’t vote for Biden.

My parents have been divorced for 30 years. My mom's family watches MSNBC and is completely brainwashed. They will all vote Biden It is a trip. My dad's family leans independent conservative. They are all voting Trump but for different reasons. None of them seem brainwashed.
No one is voting for Biden, they are voting against Trump. But that's not gonna be good enough. There enough people that have switched from not voting or from voting for Biden to now voting for Trump. I've seen this a lot in my own life with people I work with and such.

I think that he was probably allowed to stay in for that basic reason, and to allow time for the necessary back room deals to find a suitable replacement. I think Bernie has a decent chance of being the nominee, because I don't know there's anybody else that could win against Trump in this election.

But if he is switched out, i’d guess that Kamyla will be the nominee and she’ll pick one of the true Dem favorites to be her vp (Whitmer, Newsom, Buttigieg). And then all we need is for Obama to become Kamyla’s pr coach and I think she’d prob beat Trump (maybe 60% chance).
