You can’t verify builds on iOS (to make sure that the code you execute is exactly the same as the code you read), so open sourcing an iOS app is just security theater, especially now that code can be trivially generated or tweaked by AI. If one cares about verification, one should really be on Android. Apple system is not created for that, by design.

This depends on how many transactions , you did , “called utxo” that are on your account. It would be the best solution to watch bens videos about sparrow wallet or coldcard. Just add you ledger to the wallet list and put all the unspend transaction outputs , to the adress you want to send it to. Just watch those videos, you can do that.
You absolutely do not want to re use your ledger phrase for a coldcard bitcoin only wallet!! If ledger at any stage of the software or firmware upgrades was compromised, your bitcoin that you wanted to separate is also compromised. Some people might keep using both. Just make a new wallet from a new seed phrase for bitcoin only. @@14lou

The question is: does this erase the content it holds (seeds)? Or can it last several years without a battery without losing the content?

One problem with Sparrow wallet is that it doesnt find all the accounts when entering the seed words of, in this case, a Ledger Nano X. Obviously, cryptos other than Bitcoin are not found, but not all accounts with Bitcoin are found either. Probably sometimg to do with deviations which is a complication thats beyond mere mortals.

I'm sorry but this is totally insecure. You can indeed make a hardware wallet out of an old phone - so long as you signal-isolate it and then destroy it after using it. In fact that's true of any hardware wallet - per Snowden they all leak like sieves. The only way to properly secure your wallet is to use a zpub on your regular phone, OTP encryption on your physical backups, and PSBT plus a signal-disconnected one time burner device whenever you need to sign a transaction. Accept no substitutes!
