- In this episode of Quick Concepts, I'll be showing you how to play unison combinations in odd note groupings. It's a fun little concept that isn't too difficult to execute and it sounds pretty cool. Enjoy!

Your "study the greats" series videos was just fantastic..I learned a lot with them. Great drum channel. Thank you.
Great tuning Austin, sounds really smooth!
Your drums are tuned so well they make me say, “MMMM!” 😅
Sounds fabulous-- well done!
Hey man I see you got the drums dialed in!! They sound fantastic!!!
Thanks dude! I’m always working on that tuning/mixing game 😅
I was gonna' say. I'm too distracted by the snare sound to even pay attention.
Super clean playing and great sounding drums ❤

Austin, what is the top head you used for toms and floors? Thanks
Study the greats 'Nate Smith', please.
yessssss
Hi Austin! I'd like to ask you what's your approach to reverbs. Especially for the snare drum. Are you using a plugin (which one?) or just the room mics? Thank you ;)
Hey i was accidentally doing this on my drum kit a couple minutes ago. Groups of 5 ftw!
Hey Austin - love the channel, man! Question: what kinda sticks are you currently using? I'm searching for my "dream" stick and I've got big hands and play traditional, so a lot of sticks are just not working. Thanks yo!
Hi Matthew, I'm currently going back and forth between the Benny Greb Signatures and the Matt Garstka Signatures. They're both pretty dope.
Hey Austin big fan and fellow drummer myself, I’ve been mixing my drums for a while with Logic Pro X, but I can’t seem to get a clean snare sound like yours. And my snare is tuned somewhat the same as yours. Is there a way for me to clean it up in the mix or do I need to invest in new mics.
Mic placement and bad eq are almost always the issues. I use a $12 mic on my top and bottom snare and a few Slate VMR plugins and I get exactly what I need.
It’s tough to say exactly where your particular issue is. There are lots of elements that go into this final sound and they all need to be aligned for it to sound clean like this. I’m planning on making some in-depth courses soon on my tuning and mixing which will give you a lot more insight into my specific techniques. Stay tuned for that on my website over the next month or so!
thanks Great concept To heat
Simple does it!
Ray luzier has a song where he's doing this in it...and yeah it takes practice...as far as study the greats maybe the snare rolls at the end of the song Big Money by Rush
Protest the Hero does something very similar in Bloodmeat
Please, a Tool cover!
is this what daney carey uses.
Open hand drumming.
