Just to clarify--a small tank is not appropriate for an axolotl (yes, I own one). The axolotl is a high-bioload pet who requires a *minimum* tank size of twenty gallons for one.
As a proud owner of my 3 year old common snapper who started in a 75 gal tank, 2nd tank was 180 gal fiberglass tank 5ft long & currently lives in a 400 gallon 8ft long tank. 20gals is a very small tank 😂 Jokes aside, the actual recommendation for a single adult Axolotl is the Largest Small tank & the Smallest Medium tank. 15gal long - Largest Small tank 20gal long - Smallest Medium tank Multiple sites & breeders agree.
Axolotls also require cool water/unheated aquariums (mid 60s to low 70s). People living in warmer climates often use “aquarium water coolers” to maintain optimal temps. They are the larval/“tadpole” phase of the Tiger Salamander. Herpetologists speculate that pollutants in the air or on the land of their native habitat may cause them to halt their metamorphosis into their completely terrestrial adult form. They are sensitive to water perimeters (ph, temp, etc) and should only be housed with other similarly-sized axolotls. Aggressive fish or aquatic turtles can damage their delicate, external gills which often proves fatal. They are shy animals and enjoy a well planted aquarium with a cave large enough to hide in.
I grew up on a South African farm, we had a few Meerkat families living on the farm, the home family was only about 20 meters from the back door, They would come right up to the back door and helped themselves to the dog bicuits we left out for the Boerboel and BullMastiff dogs would always be on the back of my dad's pickup truck just for incase my dad was going to jump in and leave them behind. The mothers would come back after a day of foraging or a battle/war they had on with other colonies/families of meerkats who all wanted the best spot, close to the back door for food and milk. I've seen some that look happy, yet ownership applies to only a few species. That said, a python, iguana, cuckatoo or any other exotic's preferred habitat is not your couch, cage or house. If you have done your research, or have common sense you already know that. I've seen so many animals on vet shows miserable and/or dying because the owner has no clue what they're doing, even simple but vital things like temperatures, proper diet and basic sunshine. Like a 6 month old baby monkey the owner refused to keep quarantined until she built immunity. She didn't let others touch her, but had her among people like a side show. Being a primate she got herpes from someone, and this little baby suffered terribly unable to eat with sores in her mouth, swollen eyes, and uncontrollable shaking for weeks until she was euthanized. People really should just leave them where they belong in their natural habitats and leave them be.
I just said the exact same thing. Channels really shouldn't be promoting their ownership. People with a genuine interest and the required dedication to care for them will seek them out themselves.
@Littlewildone0 It's outright disgusting and I have no idea why many of these animals are allowed to be owned. Seriously people, go to a shelter and get one of the millions of animals who really DO need a home.

It really sickens me that people take in these exotic animals and then when they get tired of them, they let them loose. All you have to do is look at Florida in the python’s situation exotic animals need to be in their natural habitat. Most humans are not responsible enough to take care of them.
Sadly, I’ve found that most humans are not responsible enough to take care of ANY animal… Look no further for evidence than one of the most horrific invasive species crises in history: Australia’s feral cat population, which threatens dozens of native species with extinction. There are no native felines in Australia. The animals there are not equipped to contend with a predator as versatile, relentless, and efficient as the domestic cat. Quite frankly, bringing them into the country was a terrible idea. Still, no one questioned it… because they’re /domestic/ cats. Believe me, the level of destruction Australia is facing because of invasive cats is far worse than what Florida is facing with pythons… So the question is… how was it any more morally or ethically sound for people in Australia to keep domestic cats than for people in the U.S. to keep pythons? Should we only allow native species as pets? Should we require that all pets be contained by fences, tethers, cages, etc.? I don’t have an answer to that. I just know that calling out exotic pets as destructive or dangerous, while ignoring equal or greater threats posed by common, domesticated pets is a double standard-one that often makes people overlook their responsibility to keep ANY pet from becoming a menace to others, or to the environment as a whole.
you were so wrong about the Axolotls - everything you said, wrong. They require experience and careful care. You cannot enclose them with many either, as even a pair can kill one another.
We had a pair of axolotl at my old primary school. You're right. One had half an arm and both had scars due to fighting. If I remember well, I think one of them eventually got killed by the other
I love the video, all the animals are so adorable. The only thing is there are people that can't even raise a child let alone a pet! They think it is cute and get one and the pet suffers for life. Kinda like most kids these days. :(
Do your research PLEASE. Your hermit crab info is misleading or just down right wrong. With the proper care, they can live over 30 years. The set-up can be expensive but once done, it's fairly low maintenance. They need a habitat that is temp and humidity controlled. Cold and breezes kill them quickly. They also need fresh and saltwater pools to fully submerge in because they have gills that must be kept moist. NEVER paint or use painted shells. The crabs will eat or absorb the paint through it's skin and it's toxic to them. They also need at least 10 inches of substrate to burrow in so they can safely shed. And hermit crabs do make noises, clicks and even a scream when distressed. Please do better.
Thank you. No wonder mine always died when changing shells. The pet store gave me none of this info. I had a small enclosure with water available. No temperature control and definitely no salt water.
Another thing is they can't have water that has chlorine in it. Many people give them tap water and that's a big no no. Their water, both fresh and salt, need to be dechlorinated first. I could never understand why someone wanted to paint their shells. Natural shells are very pretty without paint. Why ruin them with ugly paint? I had 3, years ago and had them several years. The guy that gave them to me had them a long time so didn't know how old they really were but they were old when they finally died.
thank you! Glad someone on here has the voice of reason - There really shouldn't be any videos promoting exotic pets (wild animals) in the first place! Just encouraging bad practice. @@silvermainecoons3269

Leave exotic animals where they belong, in the wild. Its one thing to save an injured, near death animal that cannot return to the while but these animals belong wild and with their own kind.
There is some bad information in this video. Hyacinth macaws and any birds are terrible pets. Yes for certain people but you have to be a very special person. There is a lot to deal with. These animals become very attached to you. They suffer from separation anxiety and depression and will turn on themselves ripping out their feathers until they bleed. If they don’t get their way or what they want like to be with you when you want to mow the lawn or go to the store they will scream incessantly and at unbearable decibels. The vet bills are enormous should you need one. And the right food toys and cages are very expensive. These birds do not get the proper sized cages most of the time. It should be way bigger than a pet store recommends. For example a flight cage. They should never be handled or left unsupervised with a child. Remember they can crack a Brazil nut like nobody’s business. They throw their food all over and they crap everywhere. Cockatoos are all of the above plus shed unbelievable amounts of white powdery dust all over. When you get done handling a cockatoo , your hands are covered in it. It’s not fair to keep an animal this beautiful and majestic that was born to fly and spread their wings trapped in a cage
I love animals and I've seen some of these as people's pets. I would say, good for them, I hoped they read and kept up on what not to do and what to do with these animals. Bearded Dragons are probably the easiest to maintain, as I have plenty of family members who have some and recently my dad made some huge enclosures for my aunt for her babies. The other ones are quite exotic, but are cute.
I think that they were all adorable. But I will stay with my cat. Please do your research before getting an exotic pet. They all have to have the right diet, enclosure, and temperature to be happy.
Some millipedes can produce cyanide as a deterrent to predators. People who own them are advised to wash their hands thoroughly after handling their pets.
Growing up, I often helped my dad take care of Oscar, his pet tarantula. I’m okay with spiders, but some do give me the willies. Oscar was a cool pet. He liked getting brushed with his small toothbrush, and getting to race around on the dining room table in the evenings. He didn’t mind me stroking him ether. He had such a soft coat.
Awww, what a sweetie! I love tarantulas-I could never figure out why some people find them spooky. They’re fluffy! 🤣 Do you know what species Oscar was?
I love meerkats. My desktop photo is a mum and 2 babies and I have plenty of ornaments of them and my other favourite, ducks. I had a Jack Russell cross female but she started taking fits and I had her put down. She's been gone 2 years and I still miss her.
I guess you could call me a weird arachnophobe Because I don't like a lot of spiders I'm terrified of a lot of them but for some reason tarantulas don't really scare me that much like they're more like an animal to me than a spider Also spiders are freaking adorable and any kind of jumping spider
Brilliant video! The voiceover explains that though this or that pet may be desirable for some external feature or even if they are great in one area, potential owners need to be aware of a problem area in another. It reminds people to do their research and be sure they can manage these amazing animals and plan to give them the full commitment they deserve!
I would love a pair of meerkats. I know about their specific needs and where I live in Texas,it’s very similar to where they come from,so they’d do very well here. I could make a secure outdoor habitat with plenty of digging and running room.

Macaws are large, colorful birds which require spacious accommodations. Parrots in general require a great deal of attention, getting one is like adopting a two-year-old who never grows up (and may outlive it’s owner!) When kept properly they are playful, intelligent & rewarding companions. However, neglected parrots often become neurotic, scream incessantly and can pluck themselves bald. Hyacinth Macaws are the rarest of the macaws and like the Black Palm Cockatoo they’re listed on CITES as endangered in their range. Hyacinths also command a high price, coming in just under the Black Palm Cockatoo with a price tag between 60 - 80K (sometimes more.) *Their prices have gone up exponentially*
I’ll bite… WHY are they so expensive? Why wouldn’t people just breed more of them, since every fertile egg would apparently be worth its weight in diamonds? 😯

I agree. The monkey trade just makes me furious.
That is absolutely horrible and heart breaking, but true at the same time! Just because you can have one does not mean you should, these poor innocent lives end up suffering because of humans ignorance and selfishness. I rather stick with our house cats wich i’m very content with!
@@lolocaust4967they should not in the first place, that’s the problem! A monkey should not be living with humans but their own kind, in their right habitat where they belong! The ONLY accepted exeption is when they are in need of human help (like a sanctuary or rescue center) where they may not be able to be released back into the wild. And this goes for ANY exotic animal.
you cant say the spider is non venomous and then say if it bites you it releases a mild venom
This video is so dumb haha
Why is this video giving all kinds of bad info... I have had and raised more then half thus list in my 50 years of life and all this info is bad.. I don't understand how hard doing research is to get and share the proper care for all this beautiful critters
Oh these animals are so adorable
"They're marsupials...without the pouch!" Uh...wut??! Considering that pouches (in the females) are what DEFINES the group, what a luducrous statement😂😂😂. Its like saying "They're a mammal...without the milk!" or "They're a bird...without the eggs!"
Tell me you know nothing about taxonomy without telling me you know nothing about taxonomy. The pouch does NOT define them.
@@lolocaust4967
I googled….. seems the pouch does define them (pouch or skin flap)
Please share the source where it shows the pouch does NOT define them?
I looked for it. Could not find it.
And this is how pythons are found in the Everglades.
Fennecs live about 4 years in the wild..they can live 12 to 13 years in captivity if fed right and given the right environment..
Ok now the Fennec Fox is just to cute!
Please stop pushing the exotic animal trade.
Believe me, the level of destruction Australia is facing because of invasive cats is far worse than what Florida is facing with pythons…
So the question is… how was it any more morally or ethically sound for people in Australia to keep domestic cats than for people in the U.S. to keep pythons? Should we only allow native species as pets? Should we require that all pets be contained by fences, tethers, cages, etc.? I don’t have an answer to that. I just know that calling out exotic pets as destructive or dangerous, while ignoring equal or greater threats posed by common, domesticated pets is a double standard-one that often makes people overlook their responsibility to keep ANY pet from becoming a menace to others, or to the environment as a whole.
My favorite animal that I would have as a pet in this video is the sugar glider
you were so wrong about the Axolotls - everything you said, wrong. They require experience and careful care. You cannot enclose them with many either, as even a pair can kill one another.
Your right I had one and I had to sell it cause it was to hard to take care of
We had a pair of axolotl at my old primary school. You're right. One had half an arm and both had scars due to fighting. If I remember well, I think one of them eventually got killed by the other
My brother and I have a bearded dragons. My mom even has a rainbow Lorikeet
Thank you for sharing the video
I love the video, all the animals are so adorable. The only thing is there are people that can't even raise a child let alone a pet! They think it is cute and get one and the pet suffers for life. Kinda like most kids these days. :(
Why did you use the weird color filter for the ball pythons? They come in thousands of amazing morphs, they don't need fake neon photoshop.
I love the Sloth. Its so cute and sweet. Out of all these creatures, we had the Chinchillas and the centipede as pets, when kids.
So cool!
❤ the chinchillas are so cute!
...tarantulas are not venomous but they do emit a mildly toxic venom....😂😂🤣😅🤤
I laughed at that one. Almost all spiders are venomous. At least he didn't say poisonous.
Meerkats sure are adorable and amazing to be around
They’re wild animals.
thank you! Glad someone on here has the voice of reason - There really shouldn't be any videos promoting exotic pets (wild animals) in the first place! Just encouraging bad practice. @@silvermainecoons3269
When I was a kid I thought the "seamonkeys" advertised would grow up to look like awesome Axolotls. Boy was I disappointed lol they were basically just brine shrimp eggs 🦐🦐🦐🦐🦐🦐🦐
That's a funny story! The magic of marketing, right? Sea monkeys sure did sound more exciting than what they turned out to be. Axolotls are indeed fascinating creatures. Thanks for sharing your childhood memory with us!
I would definitely buy these, not only for cuteness but because i can take good care of them, and are better than a basic dog and cat tbh
i want a sugar glider
Wasn’t expecting to ACTUALLY see the legendary Big Ounce in this video, but I was pleasantly surprised!
I had a salamander once. She was very easy to talk to.
I knew a salamander who practiced alternative psychiatry, he held sessions in the newt!
_Ba Dum-Tissssssssssssssssssssssss!!_

It amazes me what some people think are pets.
Big Ounce Fan club check in!!
Ilove big ounce ❤❤❤
My favourite is the Fennec Fox and the Hedgehog
Big Ounce cameo! 🤘🏼
Cuteness overload!
Anyone who thinks they "NEED" something "exotic" just so they can say they have an exotic pet--actually needs THERAPY for their narcissism.
not really
I love animals and I've seen some of these as people's pets. I would say, good for them, I hoped they read and kept up on what not to do and what to do with these animals. Bearded Dragons are probably the easiest to maintain, as I have plenty of family members who have some and recently my dad made some huge enclosures for my aunt for her babies. The other ones are quite exotic, but are cute.
I think that they were all adorable. But I will stay with my cat. Please do your research before getting an exotic pet. They all have to have the right diet, enclosure, and temperature to be happy.
only not the right to freedom ?
pah
Those millipedes are beautiful. I never would've thought of having that as a pet!
Some millipedes can produce cyanide as a deterrent to predators. People who own them are advised to wash their hands thoroughly after handling their pets.
BIG OUNCE!
@@wraith1320 He was a Singapore Blue. Dark brown body, black legs. One leg was white. He had a white spot on his back.

I love meerkats. My desktop photo is a mum and 2 babies and I have plenty of ornaments of them and my other favourite, ducks. I had a Jack Russell cross female but she started taking fits and I had her put down. She's been gone 2 years and I still miss her.
I always wanted a meerkat. The problem is they do poorly outside of the group.
You can't beat them for cuteness!
That purple snake was awesome
What about capybaras?!? This list is invalid without Gort & Quandale. ✌🏼
They get really big...
Cappy-blappies love wabdamelon!
Look at the cute baby!!!!
What cute baby? 🙄
Don't encourage people to have wild animals as pets
These are to cute
Really enjoyed this!
Tarantulas? Ain't no way in the world!
I guess you could call me a weird arachnophobe Because I don't like a lot of spiders I'm terrified of a lot of them but for some reason tarantulas don't really scare me that much like they're more like an animal to me than a spider Also spiders are freaking adorable and any kind of jumping spider
Cuz they’re fluffy!!!❤
I am officially now a fan of prairie dogs. lol Who knew they were so smart, sweet, and loveable?!
Every creature needs love and tender😊
I would do the sugar glider🥰🥰😍
My favorite is the chinchilla. I like chinchilla
Also the Axolotl too
i think all this animals belong in the wild where they really live not for the amusement of humans!! god bless you all
15:44 Marmoset monkey 🐒
Brilliant video! The voiceover explains that though this or that pet may be desirable for some external feature or even if they are great in one area, potential owners need to be aware of a problem area in another. It reminds people to do their research and be sure they can manage these amazing animals and plan to give them the full commitment they deserve!
Good point!
Animals aren’t “disposable” property and no pet should ever be an “impulse buy” or received as an unexpected gift.
I’ve always said that! People just choose to treat them that way! It’s hideous! @@davidvento5481
I thought only one was there from thumbnail
I would love a pair of meerkats. I know about their specific needs and where I live in Texas,it’s very similar to where they come from,so they’d do very well here. I could make a secure outdoor habitat with plenty of digging and running room.

Forget Degus not using the wheel at night because they are active at night. Our Degus were rapidly kicked out of our daughter's room and moved to the living room because of the racket they made on the wheel overnight.

sugar gliders all the way

Chinchillas are my most favourite if I could afford one. So sweet creatures and beautiful too . Thanks for the video guys!

None of these animals should be pets. They are wild animals and need to live in the wild.
To me fennec foxes look like cats with huge ears.
Good luck with the Hyacinth Macaw..those things are like $12,000. Just get a blue & gold one for a fraction of that price
Hyacinths also command a high price, coming in just under the Black Palm Cockatoo with a price tag between 60 - 80K (sometimes more.)
*Their prices have gone up exponentially*
I’ll bite… WHY are they so expensive? Why wouldn’t people just breed more of them, since every fertile egg would apparently be worth its weight in diamonds? 😯
I was disappointed that I pretty much had to listen to your voice during the whole video, when I really wanted to hear what the (vocal) creatures sounded like! Granted, what you had to say was informative…but interjecting animal sounds into the monotone of the human voice would have been a nice addition! (And I don’t mean your cutesy made up voices!)
Bearded dragons are great pets but its not easy. I guess easy is subjective. leopard gekko much easier
