Is it just me coming back to this video every few months just to appreciate how smooth and well animated this whole thing was? From the over all visuals to the camera angles and lighting just makes it look sorta like something you would get from an official sonic game and we can all agree we would adore if we got a sonic animated series or game with this same art style and such. The closest thing we've got is fan games but I'm sure sooner or later some inspired game dev will maybe see this and decided "yeah I like this idea" now if you don't mind me I'll replay this video just like you are probably doing a few more times before going to watch something else. Odd note, in the original sprites for Mecha Sonic, the core bit seen in the chest is actually Mecha's eye. The sprites for when it's chest opens, it's head tilts back as well revealing the core. When placed up with the other sprites in this animation it shows that the core lines up with where it's eye is at in its head.

M&S At The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games has Sonic 2's Mecha Sonic as one of the secret bosses in the retro mode, so it at least a little bit heightens the chances to having Sonic 3 Mecha Sonic show up again someday. I think most people can agree that Mecha Sonic's design is far more interesting than Zavok's. Also, one of the bosses in Sonic Generations should have been Mecha Sonic considering that Sky Sanctuary is in the game. The only work they would’ve needed to do would’ve been his stats and behavioural traits, as the environment itself is already there. Cool that he returned in LEGO Dimensions I guess... but a real Sonic game appearance, MAN that would make lots of people happy.
The story mode of the knuckles passes after the Sonic campaign, and if you make the final without the Chaos Emeralds the Mecha Sonic appears alive at the end of the credits, A shame that Sega discarded this hook for a future sequence
dude, this aesthetic needs to have a whole game for itself. its like the perfect blend of sprite to 3D what with the pixel-like texturing and the PS1-like models. meanwhile the animation was clean as fuck, kudos.

Even still Mecha is the only Sonic copy to actually achieve a Super Form, the only thing Metal Sonic has done is just copy the powers of chaos through a chao and froggy and evolved into something ridiculous. Although Mecha Sonic's transformation was short lived and mostly due to the Master Emerald I do have full confidence that if he were powered by the Chaos Emeralds itself Mecha Sonic would be by far Eggman's strongest robot. And no im never counting SMBZ as part of this >_>.
Versatile or not, Metal Overlord/Madness wouldn't be able to put a scratch on Super Mecha Sonic if it were Chaos Emerald powered instead of ME powered.
This was always my favorite boss of the classic trilogy. A lot of the Robotnik encounters, while creative, were total pushovers. Most bosses don’t have more than a few attacks. Mecha Sonic always felt more like a Mega Man or Kirby boss, and that’s high praise.
