    Thank you. Fianlly instructions that I can remember and do by myself. And you didn't over explain it. The other videos that I watched had my eyes glazing over in boredom. Thank you so much for clear and easy instructions. I can remember this.

    You should try the East Hampton Shucking tool, it's the safest and easiest way to open oysters. You dont hold down the oyster down with your hand. It keeps your hand away from the knife. You won't hurt yourself.

    Thank you. Ours were harvested off the beach and much, much bigger. Oyster knife was not up to the task but finally got them opened with large screw-driver (placed where you instructed) and hammer. We will be in Borough Market next month.

      What do you mean by "liquor"?

    • @BigLob2
      @BigLob2 Год назад +8

      @@umarmars47 Liquor. That’s what they call the liquid inside the oyster. The “liquor”. And when you eat oysters, you should always tip the liquor into your mouth along with the oyster. Makes a huge difference in taste. She did an ok job demonstrating how to open the proper way. However, she wasted way too much of the liquor when she opened it.

    If you don't have an oyster knife readily available you can buy one of those small flathead screwdrivers to get into the hinge without the risk of having a knife slipping

    • @privatename542
      @privatename542 2 года назад

      @@privatename542 true but this is merely for opening the oyster, you can use any knife once you open the shell

  • @MarkRadcliffe
    @MarkRadcliffe 2 дня назад

    Nor bad, but she completely skips over an essential part of the technique: making sure you're not "shredding" the oyster inside, by maintaining proper knife angle and scraping along the top. If you don't take that step seriously, you'll have a "scrambled" oyster inside. Better vid here: ruclips.net/video/BXIDj0_zcaY/видео.html
