The whole flip an anky thing is just a mechanic to make anky not immortal. The reason for it is to give anky a way to be killed by predators without forcing them to be too weak to survive. On legacy anky hit as hard as a rex in damage and still couldn't defend itself. Any apex predator could walk up and start biting it to death without worry of death. Yes realism is important but at the end of the day we are all out to have fun and playing an anky that cant defend itself is not fun at all. You cant make it fast, you cant make it immortal, you cant make it 1 shot everything, so make it very strong but give it a weakness. If you catch an anky off guard and ram into its sides you flip it on its back. If the anky sees you it can go into a defencive stance that prevents you from flipping it but it cant move very fast at all. Its tail does heavy damage and breaks bones and its armor is thick and you cant really get much damage on it. The only way any dino ever was able to kill an anky was ambush and surprise attacks. Even then luck was involved because 1 swing of that tail could spell death for the predator. If you want realism, Lets start talking about making the game 1 hit kills for everything realistic. Trike impales any attacking rex and they die of internal bleeding within 20 seconds. Rex bites anything by the throat and their neck snaps. Spino is extreamly slow moving on land and only eats fish. Does any of that sound fun to you?
I personally really liked the Anky's design. As, the Devs mentioned eons ago- that they wanted Anky to be more "Flexible" which, I'm assuming is how it got its ability to strike upwards with its tail while in the hunkered down position. Though, it is tough and slow, it was intended to get a slight speed increase, to help it maneuver and such things like that. I really hope that they give the animal the Wild Boar type of run, lowered head, and just angry looking. It would look so intimidating and would match the Hippo water charge they get, as they'd look just as angry running below the water as they do on land. I got the impression, that Anky WONT be able to "see" under the water, so, you'd have to know the map really, really well; to not accidently drown your animal- because it can't 'swim' like the other dinosaurs. Nor do I believe it will be capable of jumping underwater either. When it comes down to Pure Defense, and Offensive capabilities; that's up for debate as we don't really know what kind of toolkit it'll have, outside of what was shown in the Concept Art. I recall, the Devs saying that smaller animals WERE more of a threat to Anky than large ones. But, at the same time, they show Spino being able to Flip Anky over, while in Hunker Mode! So, wouldn't that defeat the purpose, of what they said? Yes and no. If Spino is the only animal capable of that feat- it makes since, as it would be a special niche thing it can do. While things like Acro and even Rex can't get into it. However, I do believe Anky could get bossed around, perhaps even, 'knocked back' by Rex as it mentioned it would get a sort of "Headbutt" in its particular toolkit. Anky, is known to be the "Tanky" animal, but so is Shant in its own respect. So, would dinosaurs like Sauropods by default. So, being Tanky isn't really a specialty exclusive to Anky. (Not that it ever was, but for this example..) Perhaps, Anky is the "Fastest" version of all the Tanky Dinosaurs. Let's say its top speed can reach let's say 18mph. While the rest of the Tanky dinosaurs are only 7-10mph. Very, very, very slow. But, make up the difference for being over powered. They can't KOS if they can't reach anybody, unless that person is just... stupid enough to give it a shot. Most people who'd play Anky, would more than likely get bored as Stego player's are now. And, may even decide against playing it. And would rather play something faster to satisfy their shenanigan's! Sort of Forcing the Over Powered Anky, Shant and Sauropod players to be more.. passive and tolerant instead of being a griefer. Unless, its to grief one another- which, honestly wouldn't surprise me. Personally, I don't like the idea of Anky's armor being, "Worn Down". When I hear that, it means you have a limited amount of defense before everything on the planet can kill you. It should simply have a base armor- which, a vast majority of animals can't get into; as its.. meant to have? The only dinosaurs allowed to get past base armor- would be niche animals such as Spino, as the concept art represented. And perhaps Rex with the headbutt ability to knock Ankys off of cliffs or stagger the animal with a type of stun. While things like Raptors would prove to be more of a threat, as they can get under Anky's soft underbelly while larger animals cannot. Having a Base armor that represents the Tanky Aspect of Anky; it wouldn't be completely invulnerable as people might think! For animals such as Sauropods; they are untouchable to every dinosaur except for example Carcharodontosaurus. Or. Allosaurus. Or whatever; have special game hunters for special prey. Which, would feel really cool in the long run; as, mentioned before- they're SLOW; so, you wouldn't die to one, unless you're really, really unaware of your immediate surroundings. Plus, there was intended to be some kind of Terrain Threats as well; such as Tar pits, and well... the dreaded cliffs. People die as overpowered dinosaurs all the time. Its nothing new. And, perhaps maybe even Food can be a huge contributing factor of how many animals can be alive at the same time, as Anky I believe will be an Apex or at least a Semi-Apex animal in Evrima. Due to its size, speed, agility increase with its new design! Forcing competitive behavior to thrive. (Possibly. Especially if Grazing isn't an option for Anky in their Adult Stages.) HOWEVER! I do believe having some flexibility on the Diet System would be interesting! So, let's say for example SSS Diet unlocks: Sharpened: Which can deflect the whole amount of damage dealt or 30% damage dealt too the Anky, back onto the attacking dinosaur! Causing heavy bleed due to having sharpened osteoderms! Then let's say you get the 3 Dots on each Slot, which would Unlock: Sturdy- which would heavily increase your defensive capabilities for eating a lot of stuff with calcium. Making your armor a whole lot tougher than your standard Base Armor. Which, not only increases Defense, but may increase your Damage by 15% as well. Making you more of a threat. But, at the cost of Speed and with the Increase of a larger stomach; so you can carry and hold water and food longer. Or lets say you get the 3 Lines across the board, which would unlock: Agility! In this case, your Anky would increase its speed at the cost of Base Armor. Though more Offensive it sacrifices its Defensive capabilities, to being able to swing more often, and much faster, while running a bit faster as well; due to lack of armor. Basically turning into a "Soft shelled Turtle" at that point. But can dish out a lot of intimidating damage! Even though these examples are exaggerated; it can help people visualize the concept! :) I believe if there's special vulnerabilities for Anky or other Tanky dinosaurs, such as resting or sleeping- other players can dish out extra damage on them. Sort of like PoT. But, perhaps less aggressive. As, that's always just the shits...! Of coarse, I do believe if you have 0% Diet in your system, Anky's as well as other Tanky dinosaurs; would greatly feel the impact of poor diet. As they'd be naturally very weak in comparison to those who have diets. Poor diet animals I feel would have less natural base armor, less offensive power, perhaps they'd even loose speed and food and water drain would be more aggressive. Sort of, "culling" the server of "OP" dinos. I think this was intended for Apex animals in general. They're a struggle to keep alive- but also a reward to the player for managing their power and strength! Especially if they get into Elder Stages, and earning a new Skin or Special ability for their next life. It would be more of a "Look at me, I earned this!" Trophy. Making it rewarding as well as sort of stressful. As, its a survival game after all. You should ABSOLUTELY NOT get these powerful animals, by just having it handed too you! They should ABOSLUTELY be earned by players! Apex's being the toughest to rear and keep alive, while Semi-Apex, is a little more manageable, but not as overpowered. I'd also like to mention, that Apex animals and perhaps Semi-apex animals shouldn't be allowed to be "Force Grown" in Community Servers, to help prevent the Isle Legacy's problem of having an Apex around literally every bush and corner! Again, Earned. Not given. Anyway, back to Anky! I personally would love to see more with Anky, than your generic Dinosaur game. Hunker, isn't a new concept. Tail-swinging also, isn't a new concept. But, multi-direction tail swing is and would be super helpful! Having a Charge like ability, would also be really cool; knocking down small animals, if not out right killing them due to trample damage would be really cool! How about an "Intimidation" buff, as they drag their tail in a half moon circle- knocking a plume of dirt in the air, making enemy strikes less accurate or something or.. at least do a slight bit of less damage. Maybe Anky can whack the ground throwing dirt into dinosaurs eyes to blind them, temporarily. sort of like Hypsi; but, not as long lasting? Maybe, they can get special abilities, depending on what kind of Animals they're hanging out with. A War Cry, to help speed up their allies and deal more damage due to "Courage". Maybe, that would be too over powered or too Arcady at that point. But, it could still be used in a natural way as well; if done right. I think Bone Break will be its primary defensive and debilitating weapon! As, its a much, more powerful version of Pachy! Especially, since, Anky is suppose to pack a punch like a 'truck' as most people say. ^_^ I wouldn't be surprised if an Anky's tail strike causes serious HP loss as well. Sort of like surviving a Stego's tail-strike with a Carno. You look at your HP menu and just instantly nope the hell out! Problem for Mixed Herds: Is that they're obnoxiously slow and would be left behind all of the time. Anky's would have a large swing radius, with their tails, if chaos erupts around an Anky with dinosaurs running all over the place; it is more than likely 9 times out of 10, Anky's WILL kill any "allied" dinosaurs within their range. You see this with Stego's and Teno's all of the time! Anky's maybe hostile to other Herbivores for being bottomless pits, which, would be an interesting turn of events. Especially if they're traveling with other dinosaurs for an extended period of time. If they get any abilities that increase speed or damage to allies, it would only work for those they're physically grouped with. It would not be an area of effect; UNLESS there's a Symbiotic relationship with certain Dinosaurs somewhere down the line. Who knows. Anyway.. that's my take on this subject lol! Sorry for the Novel. TL;DR: Anky is cool. Hope to play it some time soon!
I have to cook up a great smackalicious meal to in combination to the feast that is a Kingfisher video, for it is the same great enjoyment, combined into one awesome time.
Thyreophorans and all other heavily armored reptiles are just cool, why else would I still remember Dino D-Day for as long as I have if it weren’t for the literal walking tank in Desmatosuchus, with a cannon strapped to his back. I remember when Legacy was still the main option that you would always see Ankies every once and a while. When it comes to Evrima I hope they can properly balance this absolute unit of an animal, which be even more unbalanced than adding Rex right now, I hope when it is added there is a healthy number a reasonable animals available to properly hunt it.
I think anky should be like deinosuchus, takes a long time to grow and is vulnerable as a juvenile but once fully grown becomes almost untouchable. The challenge is reaching adulthood.
The thing that bothers me about the Anky's design is why yes it is fun to speculate and give dinosaurs unique features not preserved in the fossil record such as fat distribution, quills, waddles and colors that make them unique... *HOWEVER* Anky's armor is something we have lots of evidence for and is indisputable. This is like taking a Smilodon and going "hmmm you know what looks better than these giant fangs? Lets put them in lower jaw like tusks cuz that will be cool!"
Loving this video man, thanks for making a nice take on the Anky. 8:14 it's funny because a few years ago when the Devs were discussing the Ankilo's crouch down maneuver (to avoid creatures from getting to it's underside) during their Livestreams, they actually refered to it as a hunker down😂 so your wish will be granted
I love how anky is so overpowered that like sauropods trying to balance them in games is a major challenge so they either get underpowered to compensate or they're next to invincible (in a hyperbolic sense) like irl which of course doesn't translate well into a video game
I'm not convinced that the armor wears out in my opinion. It might be better if the anky has damage reduction on his armor, as well as increased bleed resistance. Depending on the diet this reduction can increase or decrease, forcing the anky to maintain a perfect diet if she wants to survive on the isle. And when flipped it could take normal damage or even greater damage, forcing Anky players to play very defensively and be alert for predators that could flip it.
tbh they would absolutely destroy a spoon. Their weak biteforce wouldn't even really allow them to hurt an anky, and unlike that concept art there's no way they'd ever flip one over. They'd just get smashed as soon as they got too close. Venomous dinos should be capable of hurting them, but then again they're also susceptible to getting folded by that tail. Overall the anky should be by far the strongest one in the game, but pretty slow so basically they can really only kill things that come looking for a fight with it and don't run away in time.
@@colecampbell1906 true. My standpoint is that if an anky isn’t paying attention and gets jumped, the spoon flips him. But if he sees it coming, he gon smack em in the face
I'm a be honest having rex brake bones does make sense but how in the fuck does anky not brake bones, like that's the legit purpose of the club. My suggestion is to test this and a lot of other balance changes on legacy. And it's not hard to make Anky a playable in legacy that has the exact same mechanic as rex. Now I must say everyone says legacy was shit but it's probably the most balanced dino game ever.
In my opinion, I feel like anky should be damn near unkillable as a healthy adult. As for tactics for hunting, I think each of the apexes should have a different approach to it. I immediately thought about Rexes targeting the head since I’m sure it fits in their mouth. Spinos flipping it and giga…I haven’t thought that far. But I also think carnivores should be punished for mindlessly biting an anky and “break their teeth” aka getting a damage nerf if they simply try to bite down on its back
Im glad someone else likes the anky's design, I get it doesn't look realistic at least according to the fossil record. However last I checked the Isle never claimed to be making realistic dinos straight from history. While I wont deny the Isle designs are all over the place in terms of consistency, I think some like the anky look really cool. Giving it the rhino hide kinda look on top of its normal plate armor gives it a unique look as I feel like anky personally fits the rhino mentality decently well.
I think the Anky's tail swings should be reliant on stamina to a big degree, this will stop players from spam attacking and actually think tactically before just launching their wrecking balls at Carnivores. With that, when the Anky is very low on stam and attempts to tail swing, they could maybe lose balance and offer an opportunity for large predators to flip them over. I think a compromise like that should be fair enough considering how tanky and powerful the Anky would be. I mean, even stegos right now are broken... imagine that with a literal walking tank.
3:15 I definitely agree because in the end The Isle It's science fiction and if we can have Tyrannosaurus Rex from Jurassic Park we can have a Rhino-type Ankylosaurus
evrima anky sounds so appealing to me. unbothered lumbering brick shithouse, the immoveable object. being slow and mostly tail attack focused it brings to my mind the total opposite of these really aggro Dibbles you sometimes see. plodding along unbothered side-eyeing most carni's "go on then, you think you're hard enough?".
You're kinda right about ankys new design. I mean, take a look at tenonotsaurus. It looks nothing like its real world counterpart, and yet everyone loves it.
were you playing deino yesterday? i ran into someone called kingfisher, talked a bit with them and then i died to a full grown deino 5 minutes later lol
I have reviewed the comments, on that note I haven’t seen any topic on the lower region along the belly and legs. Those seem vulnerable, the latest things the devs are working on is directional attacks. Would this be a way to take down an anky. Aiming lower to inflict damage in an area that is considered weak? I think this type of gameplay would make it all the more challenging, but also make the anky not impossible to kill other than having Rex ram it. I enjoy your take on the anky in this video, either way I love the anky and hope it gets all the love and attention it deserves from what legacy lacked in providing for it.
9:13 In my opinion it should work like Armor in Fallout New Vegas works with "Treshold Damage" For example, let's say there are 30 points of armor, any damage less than this is nullified and if the damage exceeds 30, only the amount exceeded is passed (for example, 42 damage only passes 12) BUT there are ammunition and special weapons (in the case of The Isle special attacks) that have the ability to penetrate armor that, although they do less damage, ignore all armor then against Highly armored enemies/dinosaurs end up doing more damage than a normal attack and carnivores that hunt Ankylosaurus can have an armor-ignoring alternative attack against the ankylosaurus.
There should be 2 swings for anky small swing that does small damage but is quick and takes less stamina then a big swing that does a lot of damage potentially breaks brones and is very obvious and easy stamina also for the flip tactic it should be high risk high reward a sort of tug of war dictated by stam
I would recommend that anky should only be flippable if it's stam ran out and it should cost the predator stam aswell to flip him/her because he a chuncky boi
I’m surprised anky isn’t that common of a playable dino in most games that allow you to play Dino’s and for a dino that’s quite iconic it’s sad that even when it is a playable it is just made to be a slow tank with nothing special about them other than being “tanky” you and people in the comments give so many great ideas and I can’t wait for the anky to become as amazing as it finally should be
wouldn't it make more sense to stick to the original animals which couldn't float always, but by making it faster and skinnier thus reducing it weight seemly counterintuitive for it to be walking on the bottom of bodies of water.
Only thing able to kill it should whatever can flip it over meaning rex , giga and other apexes cant beat just like it is irl Only thing would be spino but since spino is gonna be super slow anky can prolly just run from it
realistically none of them would stand any chance of flipping it over though. It weighs as much as a rex but it's built like a coffee table and none of them have very strong arms. It's center of gravity is just too low and it weighs too much for them to flip it, not to mention it doesn't really have a way for them to get a good hold of it to try flip it. All while getting smacked in the face with that tail. As slow as the spino is, so is the anky, so running wouldn't likely be the option, it's probably going to rely on fighting off everything. If they're smart it will be the toughest thing in the game by far, but just so slow that it's not really a threat to anything unless they're dumb enough to get close to it. So it'd be like the ultimate challenge for carnivores, but only if they choose.

(Possibly. Especially if Grazing isn't an option for Anky in their Adult Stages.)
HOWEVER!
I believe if there's special vulnerabilities for Anky or other Tanky dinosaurs, such as resting or sleeping- other players can dish out extra damage on them.
8:15 So literally the Anodontosaurus from PoT lol, even the name that you gave its ability is the same.
8:04 seems similar to cough, cough, path of titans anodontosaurus🧐
Ankylosaurus, a big fat ass tanky herbivore.
Bros mad glazing the anky
Most underrated isle youtuber
The thing that bothers me about the Anky's design is why yes it is fun to speculate and give dinosaurs unique features not preserved in the fossil record such as fat distribution, quills, waddles and colors that make them unique... *HOWEVER* Anky's armor is something we have lots of evidence for and is indisputable. This is like taking a Smilodon and going "hmmm you know what looks better than these giant fangs? Lets put them in lower jaw like tusks cuz that will be cool!"
The dinosaur king reference made me give this video a like.
You might be one of the more agreeable and responsible speculative the isle you tubers
Ankylosaurus totally hits like a truck.... Made of lead, filled with lead bricks.
Let me know your thoughts about Anky below, are you excited, or think its trash? I hope you enjoyed the video!
As long as it has Bone break like pachy I think it will be pretty cool
Beep bope beep beep beep beep bope boopy beep bop (bop bop bop)
@@yoshikagekira726 thank you for your imput
As an anky fan I like it I feel like the hunker down probably might be a large damage reduction but the armor idea is cool
Love this possible series could you possibly make one about the upcoming Dino’s on the road map
I’ll more than likely cover some, I love Kentro and Maia!
omg holy tv show flash back jump scare vatman
Anky should be a god against everything except spoons and any venomous Dinos
tbh they would absolutely destroy a spoon.
"Not a soul is safe"
King fisher getting cancelled for bullying people who probably arent the same skin color as he is:
But I also think carnivores should be punished for mindlessly biting an anky and “break their teeth” aka getting a damage nerf if they simply try to bite down on its back
It is a huge quincidence that i found your Channel the same day i went on a walk and saw a King fisher bird
encountered you in game a few weeks ago you were really nice as this video is !! stay strong
i like how this guy is talking about it like it actually lived and died a long time ago
Some scientist believe that anky could eating and fish and plants in the water they found fish bones if other anky stomach /sub species
My favorite dino. Hope they do it justice in Evrima with its bone break.
i was literally talking to my friends on how you should make a video again yesterday😭💀 loving the content
Dood kingfisher! U already have 1k congrats!
Also u my fav dino RUclipsr next to gaming beaver
Thanks Mr! Nice to hear from you again.
I just want my giant lizard megalania. I'm stuck as water lizard for now
Tailwhipping a tree to make fruits/nuts come down would be a nice feature
Edit: a Minuit later your video mentioned it 😄
You're kinda right about ankys new design. I mean, take a look at tenonotsaurus. It looks nothing like its real world counterpart, and yet everyone loves it.
Love the dinosaur king reference lol
at 3:31 for a split second i thought the sleeping dino was something else entirely
the memories of wtching dino king the best show ever of dinos that was old school animated
The dinosaur king reference is legendary man is it available to watch anywhere
I’ve seen it on Netflix 😊
were you playing deino yesterday? i ran into someone called kingfisher, talked a bit with them and then i died to a full grown deino 5 minutes later lol
Your success is warranted, good job!👌🗿
I have reviewed the comments, on that note I haven’t seen any topic on the lower region along the belly and legs. Those seem vulnerable, the latest things the devs are working on is directional attacks. Would this be a way to take down an anky. Aiming lower to inflict damage in an area that is considered weak? I think this type of gameplay would make it all the more challenging, but also make the anky not impossible to kill other than having Rex ram it. I enjoy your take on the anky in this video, either way I love the anky and hope it gets all the love and attention it deserves from what legacy lacked in providing for it.
9:13 In my opinion it should work like Armor in Fallout New Vegas works with "Treshold Damage"
For example, let's say there are 30 points of armor, any damage less than this is nullified and if the damage exceeds 30, only the amount exceeded is passed (for example, 42 damage only passes 12) BUT there are ammunition and special weapons (in the case of The Isle special attacks) that have the ability to penetrate armor that, although they do less damage, ignore all armor then against Highly armored enemies/dinosaurs end up doing more damage than a normal attack and carnivores that hunt Ankylosaurus can have an armor-ignoring alternative attack against the ankylosaurus.
There should be 2 swings for anky small swing that does small damage but is quick and takes less stamina then a big swing that does a lot of damage potentially breaks brones and is very obvious and easy stamina also for the flip tactic it should be high risk high reward a sort of tug of war dictated by stam
You need so many more subscribers solely down to your reference of dinosaur king
3:16 it does go hard
I would recommend that anky should only be flippable if it's stam ran out and it should cost the predator stam aswell to flip him/her because he a chuncky boi
Ayoooo new kingfisher vid dropped
Spino is gonna be a beast and i love it
Kingfisher next could you cover smthn like carcha or acro? It would be realy cool and ur thoughts would be cool aswell
I’m surprised anky isn’t that common of a playable dino in most games that allow you to play Dino’s and for a dino that’s quite iconic it’s sad that even when it is a playable it is just made to be a slow tank with nothing special about them other than being “tanky” you and people in the comments give so many great ideas and I can’t wait for the anky to become as amazing as it finally should be
I hope you send all your ideas straight to the devs!
You are a living W

Good stuff,
I'm sorry, What was the name of the last song used?!
Allo next🌚🌝
All The Isle has to do with anky is look at how PoT did anodonto and make sure to avoid that at all costs
wouldn't it make more sense to stick to the original animals which couldn't float always, but by making it faster and skinnier thus reducing it weight seemly counterintuitive for it to be walking on the bottom of bodies of water.
Only thing able to kill it should whatever can flip it over meaning rex , giga and other apexes cant beat just like it is irl
Only thing would be spino but since spino is gonna be super slow anky can prolly just run from it
realistically none of them would stand any chance of flipping it over though.
@@colecampbell1906 spino would realisticly be able to flip it over by approaching from the Front, irl anky isnt that heavy , in the game spino is prolly gonna be its worst enemy regarding spinos concept Art easily flipping and killing it
@@profilenotfound2525 with what? Those weak little arms? No way.
And no an anky was actually as heavy as a Rex, they were nearly 20k lbs. There's 0 chance a spino is flipping it.
But don't read into the concept arts too much, they don't exactly follow those. They're just essentially cool drawings for upcoming creatures.
@@colecampbell1906 weak little arms ? Bruh those arms could carry its weight lmao , plus if u actually Look into the anatomy its arms where very muscular and strong 💀
And no anky irl is nowhere near 10 tons bruh , if spino grabs it from the Front there is pretty much nothing it could Do to shake it off or get away giving spino all the time it needs to find a way to flip it , ofc it wouldnt happen but its in fact possible
Pretty much 95% of the concept arts content is actually made true so its very likely spino will be able to Do it
Alberto make a video on it please
Careful Fisher, the devs might kill ya for this
We actually have found a complete complete skeleton
yea I was pretty sure they found just the 1. Idk if it was 100% complete though, just mostly.
They found the whole top body, the head, the armour and the tail
5:15 💀
Not related but I feel like all dino's right now are to fast. Why not just make the map smaller and have a 10/20% reduction in speed? Makes combat a lot less chaotic and also looks more realistic. I havent played legacy in some years but that felt way better in terms of speed if I remember correct.
Dinosaur king was cool
last!
unfortunately I don't believe the devs think in a logical way, so utah probably will still be able to kill one
Anky should have a dps reduction playstyle, lets say a rex do 1k dps to anything an anky should only take like 450 dps and anky should have high hp like 10k as an adult 😁😁😁😁😁😁
