Should Ferreira have taken it first touch and scored? Yes. But OMG Franco Jara. His teammate has it wide at a sightly poor angle and he is 10 yards clear of any defender. LOOK ALIVE. ATTACK THE SPACE. WANT THE BALL. Instead he looks around and stands still and then the ball is intercepted. At least look like you care to score. Freeze the video at 4:21 then watch how little effort Jara gives to move into the dangerous space. Jara could have been at the top of the 6 yard box before the pass for a tap in if he was more alert.
Play Gedion Zelalem more! This is the first time ive seen him be put in the game in a while. Hes good, he has a lot to offer, very poised, great distributor of the ball, pin point passes into the box for forwards to finish. Yall are not using him he used to play for Arsenal for f sakes and won the championship with top Scottish club Rangers. Yall starting a bunch of unknowns. Start him, smh
Only 1 win in the past 9 games... FCD had a great start to the season, but over the past 2 months we've consistently seen wasted chances and sloppy defending. Maybe the heat is taking its toll on the players, but it's getting harder and harder to watch.
@BenOfTheDay_EditZ Pefok and Pepi for starters. Both competing in top 5 leagues and more proven for the national team that Ferreira. Then after that, you have Hoppe and Sargent, who also both have better national team track records, despite shaky club form. Lastly, Daryl Dike has done far more for his clubs than Ferreira. I think Ferreira is levels below all of them
@BenOfTheDay_EditZ in addition to all of those players in the striker pool better than Ferreira, there is also Tim Weah who is a more experienced and talented striker, despite playing preferably on the wing.
@BenOfTheDay_EditZ incorrect. If you watched Pepi in MLS, he did the exact same thing as Ferreira, if not more efficiently. He was also considerably younger than Ferreira when scoring for FC Dallas. Pepi then proved himself with meaningful goals in WCQ, rather than Ferreira stat padding against Grenada, a country smaller than Dallas. Sure, Pepi had a poor run of form in Augsburg, but considering he arrived as a teenager mid season in a relegation fight, I am more than willing to believe in his ability to settle in. The Ferreira>Pepi argument makes no sense to anyone who has been paying attention to both players for more than 6 months
I feel like the outcome of this game wasn’t nycfc being the better team, but Dallas defeating themselves by that mistake on the defense which led to the goals and not capitalizing when they had their shots
