      Splatoon ATM is a very average and kind of stale game at this point. There are only a few things that are keeping this game from dying and one of those is competitive play. This game’s amount of tournaments and how well they are run is what’s keeping this game alive! The weapon balance is also really good right now with people being able to play nearly every weapon in the game! Finally, the RUclipsrs. PBs are so fun to play in especially if you don’t have any irl friends to play with! So any RUclipsrs or tournament organizers that see this comment, thank you for keeping this game alive! You truly deserve more appreciation for what you guys do!

      I love Splatoon 3, i am currently taking a long break until 2024, i've been sick to death with negative content, and people trashing Splatoon 3, like fussing about Shooter Bias, Maps, Splatfests, and so on. Also, i quit Salmon Run for good sense August 18th, 2023, also i've been dropping out of Splatoon 3 because of negativity, mental health, and so on, i do not like negativity, in my opinion, i hate Salmon Run on Splatoon imo because i do not like this mode, and i been saying "The Maps Are Fine" and also i cannot stand people trashing my favorite game, Splatoon 3...
      Splatoon is my favorite franchise, but i will be taking a long break until March 2024, so i hope Splatoon 4 will be here on the new console, The Splatooon Community upsetted me lately because i cannot stand people hating Splatoon 3, and Fussing about the maps, because i care is positivity, and also 2023 been horrible, so anyways i am not quitting Splatoon or Splatoon 3 permeantly, i will love to play this game again in the future.

      I’m sorry to hear about the negativity, and, unfortunately, there is always going to be some negativity somewhere, it’s life. I just wanted to point out what needs to be worked on to keep Splatoon 3 from being stale and to continue having it be engaging. I love the franchise as well, it’s why I bought the Wii U in the first place.

      I love splatoon 3! I find it engaging and fun to play. I do agree that the team is probably working very hard on the DLC side order more than the main game. but it still gets some love. Likely after the Side order is out and done with major bug fixes, the main game will become better. (Hopefully) But I don't like how youtubers are saying "SplAtOoN Is DieiNG!!!!" because it may be dipping in poupularity, but it still has a goo bit of players. They really need to fix the internet issues though, the internet isssues are un accepable. I've only had internet issues a hand full of times, (Probably beacuse my house has bad reception) but my internet is always connected when the issues happen. I do think that Splatoon 3 is good, but it needs some work, and youtubers need to keep posting normal splatoon videos and not say"SplAtOoN Is DieiNG!!!!" because that does not help the franchise. Most of the current players are people who aboslutely love the game and won't stop playing beacuse they like it's gameplay and its overall style. (Me included) But I agree with you, they need to fix splatoon, and content creators need to stop saying "SplAtOoN Is DieiNG!!!!" But don't stop playing splatoon my fellow smallfry!

    • @CapnFry
      @CapnFry  11 месяцев назад +1

      Dw I don't plan on stopping Splatoon 3 and those are some good points! :D The "Splatoon 3 is DYING" is more of a way to get people to click on the video and stay hooked, that's why a lot of content creators and I myself included it. However, what I intended was less of this game is legit going to die and more of a calling where if we don't do anything, there is a potential that the franchise won't receive the retention it used to. It's really less about trashing the game and more about criticizing it. Without criticism, a lot of games wouldn't turn out the way they do. I LOVE Splatoon and I only want what's best for it! :)

    The thing I’ve started to notice the _most_ is how unfair the matchmaking has been. I’ll get paired up with rookie N-Zap users (no hate!) against a team of triple-5-star Japanese sniper/splatling mains. It’s gotten to the point where the spawncamping and unfair pairing is _so horrible_ that most teams just hang out in their base, avoiding getting splatted and letting the other team have the win. It’s not just unfair, it’s unfun.

    Personally it's not getting that stale for me, but compared to other games, I've been playing stuff like Fortnite and DRG more since launch since they give more content per update, and they have them much more frequently!
    I still very much enjoy Splatoon 3, heck even enjoy it more now (I'm trying out a few weapons like the other inkbrush kit as I'm typing this comment!), but Nintendo really needs to step up their game, especially against other games like Fortnite which get way more content than it, for free!!

  • @atiinator

    At its core the game is very fun. Yes the update cycle is slow but I think the game is in a pretty good spot, content wise. The only thing that I just can't get over is the online service, or lack there of. It's absolutely unacceptable for today's standarts. Especially for a game like this, where miliseconds can make a huge difference. It's why I mostly stopped playing the game which I had never imagined could happen because I LOVE Splatoon! But I can't take this game seriously if it doesn't take itself seriously.

  • @PenguinsRecords
    @PenguinsRecords 11 месяцев назад +6

    IMO for what happened to splatoon 3, there's multiple factors, I don't know what to say to start things off;
    1.) From the Salmon Run POV, Splatoon 3 is technically knocking it out of the park; Every new "Season" has added something new, (Marooner's Bay, Horroboros, JSJ, Salmonid Smokeyard). However, I do feel that the huge thing that knocks Salmon Run down is how time-demanding it is to actually reach EVP 999, which requires at least 7 hours of playing Salmon Run in a 40 hour period. That being said, I do feel that the Salmon Run ladder could have been organized further.
    2.) For Splatfests, while I do find the 1v1v1 concept cool and interesting, I do feel like they are in fact too infrequent, and also... there's this: Whenever I streamed a splatfest, viewership would underpreform. This is because these splatfests force you to choose one out of three teams, so by calculations, one out of every 3 players who would normally play splatoon with me would be able to play with me in a splatfest. Then there's the fact you're right that they haven't really implimented special story-mode mechanics into splatfest maps which I feel could have made a better impact.
    3.) I am going tos ay this as a person who plays multiple franchises of games, including certain mobile titles. Nintendo, ironically to what some people say about them, are actually pretty generous when it comes down to their price demands, (at least compared to other certain companies out there). While they probably had plans for Splatoon 3's content regarding the time period from 2022 to 2024, it is hard to maintain loyal retention if you're not adding new stuff every week or adding something people could call enough of a change to be considered an update every month, whether that be adding new content or weapons... maybe. Ultimately, Splatoon 3 is a pretty balanced game IMO, and I like it that way. I would definetly prefer Splatoon maintain it's longevity design rather than rush content for retention, and I think Nintendo would agree with me here. That being said, there will also be a loyal competivie side to splatoon, which I do sense can make matches unfair when they go up against casual players.
    4.) As for Tableturf, the main new "Gamemode" for Splatoon 3, I will state it's fun. I do feel it would've preformed better if you had the ability to face against people in real time, similar to Clash Royale's USP back in 2016. While a 1v1 tableturf would probably not be as much of a sucsess, it would probably result in a larger loyal fanbase towards the tableturf branch. I also do feel that the gatcha system in Splatoon 3, especially for Tableturf is a little off/unfair since it might give some players an advantage over others, which for a strategy game, can ruin it's longevity.

    • @treylinazerros159
      @treylinazerros159 11 месяцев назад

      It was added patches ago that you can now face against real people in tableturf. You'd need to use the tableturf or tbs pool though as there is no matchmaking system. I may have misunderstood though.
      To be honest I think it being turn based is fine - but I don't like how ridiculously grindy it is to get cards and how RNG can easily still give a bad starting hand.

    As a newcomer of this game (ive only been playing splatoon since the third installment released back last game), ive enjoyed every aspect of Splatoon 3 and the stuff that has been met with middling reception, I still do enjoy it. I don't mind the stuff that Nintendo is trying to do, but i don't find it nice at all seeing it get trashed by the fans (and this just parts of the fanbase, not everybody) for not "doing what we want" and i worry thats a response that is existent every time Nintendo tries to do anything new with Splatoon. It makes any criticisms fans have about the game (especially from the veterans) less complaining and more blinding themselves with nostalgia and unwilling to accept the direction Nintendo is going which only leads to fighting within the community. I hope you continue to enjoy Splatoon, even if the frequency of events is slower than what fans had expected, don't let what you see from others jade your stance on the game. I have personally been maybe thinking about not playing Splatoon after the updates and events are done because of the divided recption among fans, but i still play Splatoon 3 because I still have hope for this game and im not going to give up on it, so i hope you don't give up on it as well. Although I have many problems with Splatoon 3, imo, it's still leagues better than Splatoon 2 lol. But all honestly, I think a good reason why Splatoon 3 doesn't feel fun rn is because the current season is atrocious, as only like two brand new weapons were added & a good chunk of the catalog is repeats. Another good reason why Splatoon 3 feels like it's dying is maybe cause other stuff is coming out. With so much good stuff coming out recently (Like Mario Wonder, Spiderman 2, OG Fortnite) offering so much new content while Splatoon 3 just... added a couple minor things, results into less people showing up for Splatoon 3. It kinda sucks because like I said, I think Splatoon 3 improved a good majority of things from Splatoon 2, and imo, Splatoon 3 feels like a true sequel to Splatoon 1, but with it lacking content, and with how the game is setup (stages, patch releases, etc.), I've seen people get bored and/or dropped the game faster than Splatoon 2, and most people I know who played Splatoon heavily during 2, played 3 for like the first season, then gave up and are now just waiting for Side Order to come out. And I feel like this game will truly feel like it's dying is with it's Splatfest, with it being... well a painfully boring & mediocre theme, and because of that people picking the same team, I won't be surprised if less people turn up to this Splatfest cause of it. I do like Splatoon 3, but I do hate how it's flaws are apparent and is slowly killing the game.

    • @CapnFry
      @CapnFry  11 месяцев назад +1

      This is pretty much how I feel as well. I think Splatoon 2 handled engagement better within the first year than 3 did. It’s not that 2 is better, it’s just that 3 is too head focused on new seasons and tiny, almost pointless content (which some is cool don’t get me wrong, but it’s nothing to really keep you playing the game for another 3 months). Also that’s a good point with the competition and how it’s reflective on Splatoon 3’s stance.

    Now in my opinion, the overpowered weapons and specials are the true ultimate reason, above all else, why Splatoon 3 is a dying game. I don't care if I am in the smallest percentage of players about this issue. We can blame maps, we can blame matchmaking and network netcode issues, we can blame many things like the faster movement but I am warning and telling you that above all else it is literally entire weapon classes and several of the specials that drive players away. If we look at Splatoon 3 gameplay compared to the first two games we can see that Splatoon 3 has a much faster tempo of gameplay. The movement speed of players, the addition of the squid roll and squid surge, even certain weapons and specials has caused the overall speed of the gameplay to increase. With increased speed means the faster a player gets back into combat, the faster the return to battle the more weapons and other specials must compensate for it. This dynamic has caused a massive increase and divide amongst the player base, these who are casuals and normal players compared to regulars and more hardcore players. If you cannot learn the new movement style and tempo you will fall behind. Now i started by saying it is the weapons and specials that are the biggest problem, and ultimately they are. With any game it takes time to learn the movement and pace, the new skills of squid surge and squid roll are tricky at first but once you get a feel for them they become 2nd nature in the game. The new movement skills in Splatoon 3 aren't a roadblock, they are a fun and versatile hurdle you will overcome and infact are a great defense weapon against what I stated before, the weapons and specials. After a year of playing everyday, I say to you again that it is the weapons even more than the specials that drive players away. I won't go into every single weapon but every season a weapon or special gets unreasonably buff even if on paper it doesn't seem so. There are some unfortunate factors that do play a role in a weapon or special being over dominate or too power. The big two at the moment are map design and lag issues. This goes back to the simplistic and bottleneck design for which I speak, also the spawn point and other details. Outside of environmental influence, the things that cause a weapon to be overpowered in Splatoon 3 comes down to Range, Accuracy, Fire Rate, Damage, Inkage, Area of Effect, and Ammo. Another huge factor you must take into consideration is the Hitbox of a player, a projectile, and a weapons own Hitbox like the Brushe, Rollers, and Splatanas. I will list in order the most powerful of these to the weakest, some may be equal in ways.
    1. Range
    2. Accuracy
    3. Fire Rate
    4. Damage
    5. Area of Effect, Inkage, Hitbox
    6. Ammo
    As of this state of the game, Long Range is thee most dominant force in Splatoon 3 with nothing coming close to counter it. If you or you have a decent player with a Long Range weapon and he has an accurate weapon like a Sniper then good luck too you because they will dictate the entire match from start to finish. Any weapon, and I mean ANY weapon in this game that has Long Range, is Accurate, has a High Fire Rate, High Damage, has a Big Area of Effect with great Inkage, and doesn't spend alot of Ammo is an overpowered dominant weapon. Now i already can hear people talking about learning the maps, skills, learning each weapon, adapting, overcoming, blah blah, and sure yes some maps and moments can provide an alleviation to this overpowering weapon dominance, but once reality sets in you will learn that that is rare and very much depends on how good you and your team think you are compared to how bad you hope your opponent is. I can absolutely guarantee you that if you look at the top 10 to 15 weapons predominantly used they ALL will have one or nearly all of these factors. Many many, if not entire classes of weapons in Splatoon 3 are overpowered and have gotten even more buffed since the game's launch. This has become an issue not due to because of mostly environmental reasons but because one weapon was overpowered so the devs thought it would be best to overpower another weapon to compensate for it thus we are in an overpowering weapons arm race. This doesn't just end at weapons, this is also for Specials. Now you some will say no no you are exaggerating, and it is true that some weapons and specials may not be best in TURF war, but once you step into Ranked battles this reality becomes even more apparent. The proper course for this is NOT to keep making weapons overpowered, what we need is actually balancing, to look at root causes and not just counter counter counter. The best course for balancing right now are massive nerfs across the board, reworks to several weapons, decrease Hitboxes for many weapons, decrease ammo aned inkage, decrease damage or accuracy or even fire rates, some weapons need a new charge function even, all of these types of fixes should be applied properly and not randomly. Map adjustments would help fix the Long Range dominance. Similar issues go along with specials. Now specials are unique with some being defense, support, and even utility. One big example is no damage special should be allowed to destroy grenades except the Ink Vac. Some specials just need high point values, and some specials need to have their damages reduced. A big adjustment of balance would be to have no special be allowed to hold a Clam or make the Tower move. It is sad to say but the Specials, though op at times, are nothing compared to the abundance of op weapons that need adjustments. I say again, the overpowered weapons is the MAIN reason the player base is dying, you don't know how frustrating it is when some weapons are literally better than others and have zero negatives. Sure we can say internet connection is even more overpowered and it can be but that still stems fron Nintendo itself and environmental. The real bulk of the issue are the weapons, you get even decent with certain types and you get 20+ kills easy.

    The fact that we're a year into Splatoon 3 and Anarchy Battle is still the same set of ranked modes we've been playing since December 2017 is ridiculous.
    I took a big hiatus from S3 around April this year and just felt kinda deflated when I got back to it last month. All of the stores had items I already owned (and that's still true today, outside of 2-3 things) except for Hotlantis. I thought them adding server-side multiplayer data, two different Anarchy rotations, and a better story mode would be enough to satisfy me but I was wrong lol. They gotta do better for Splatoon 4.

      I mean look at Side Order. It's a Splatoon Rougelike! I do think Chill season should still ramp up the multiplayer content, but we should still acknowledge what Nintendo is still trying to do (which is of course Side Order)
      Content drought is still a problem, but I believe that it will start ramping up in content by the time Side Order comes out. Since it was delayed, maybe they may have to extend Splatoon 3's update lifetime by 0.5-1 year? That's just speculation though

    ermm theres been 2 special splatfests this season, a season is gonna be announced in the next week, and ANOTHER splatfest is next week. i see your point, and i know it feels barren, but thats just what happens the week before a new season is announced. The maps seem to be improving rapidly, manta maria tricolour for the next splatfest looks like a banger, and im sure next season is gonna be a big one, just you wait :))

    I do kinda have to agree Splatoon 3 fell off it felt fun at first but now it seems like every match is the same, making the game very... boring
    besides the dlc i don't find myself coming back to the game, I might go back to the original it felt a lot more fun

    Splatoon 3 Negativity Seriously Needs to Stop, but i take a long break from Splatoon 3 until Side Order, so anyways, enjoy the long break. (Update: 11/9/2023) - Splatoon 3 is not Dying, Splatoon 3 never dies).
    I do not play Salmon Run no more, sense 2018, i dislike Salmon Run, i mostly play PvP like Anarchy.. I do not like looking at negative videos and post of Splatoon 3, it's all clickbait.

      I think you might’ve overlooked my point I tried to get across. I’m not implying that Splatoon 3 is dead, I’m trying to express my thoughts and opinions.
      It’s more of criticism on the game rather than flat out negativity, I just want the best for Splatoon 3. Imo it just feels like the devs could do a little better at finding ways to make more engaging content for 3.
      I hope you enjoy the break though! It’s good to step out and take some time away from it all.

    I mean its certainly true the ratevof new content is slow, but its still getting new content. Good games dont need regular new stuff to be good anyways, people still play tf2

    • @CapnFry
      @CapnFry  11 месяцев назад +2

      Yes I can agree that good games don’t need regular new updates and Splatoon 3 is a phenomenal game. However, I’m more implying that because of the lack of updates to change the scene a little bit, the engagement drops and that’s what I feel like is happening with 3 rn.

    Aside from my other comment, while I did play Splatoon 2, I mostly played it after I got Octo Expansion, soooo while there were a lot of cool qeapons and stuff, I still thi k Splatoon 3 got more, but the seasonal content definitely needs to increase

    • @CapnFry
      @CapnFry  11 месяцев назад +1

      No Splatoon 2 definitely introduced more during the beginning years (I'm a Splatoon vet, so I've played since the first game was released). Salmon Run wasn't a thing until 2 and neither was Clam Blitz. There was then also all the special Splatfest maps added in during 2's lifetime, so I wouldn't say that 3 received more engaging content, but maybe more content overall I guess...? Although, I still believe that 3 is a better game and they just need to find some ways to keep it more engaging.

    • @CapnFry
      @CapnFry  11 месяцев назад +1

      I honestly highly doubt they are already working on a 4th game considering the DLC is still in the works. It would most likely be at least another year or 2 before we hear anything about a 4th game if they decide to do one.

    • @Reame33
      @Reame33 11 месяцев назад

      @@CapnFry Even they are "working" on DLC, they don't need the whole team. Even if, they are probably saving good new ideas for next title.

    • @CapnFry
      @CapnFry  11 месяцев назад +1

      I guess so? I just don’t see the need for starting a new game when the DLC isn’t even out yet. I also doubt you’d need to take out a lot of effort from the previous game in order to formulate ideas for the next. Doesn’t really make much sense to me for them to sabotage like that. Splatoon 3 also hasn’t even been out for 2 years yet, so I don’t think there is any rush to put out a 4th game in my opinion.

      I don't know about that... this game was announced by the start of January 2021 and heavily marketed...
      At launch, it definitely was better than S2 and S1 due to the new features, but over time the content got pretty stale due to how little they added in each season.
      I think other factors like them working on Side Order and other games play a part in this.
      If this was filler, we likely would have had less stuff and no DLC.

      @@CapnFry well I think naturally if you play something over and over again, it’s gonna get boring. And it doesn’t really make sense that the game is getting dry even though they release a new season every couple months.
      But I get where you’re coming from because the game pretty much has the same premise without adding any new modes .

    • @CapnFry
      @CapnFry  11 месяцев назад

      Oh yes I agree with you on that first part for sure, and as for the second part, yup! That’s kinda the whole point of the video and it’s more of getting my opinion across and seeing others perspectives, not trashing the game. I love Splatoon 3 and I only want to see the best for it.

  • @bestevil.
    @bestevil. 10 месяцев назад

    Im so tired of these videos. Just take a break it's not that hard. Of course a game is gonna get stale after relentlessly playing it for a year. So play something else.
    If you do that, new updates will also feel way fresher as you will be getting familiar with the game again in general.

    • @CapnFry
      @CapnFry  10 месяцев назад +1

      I agree that taking a break is helpful (I actually did take a small break from the game not too long ago), but I’m just sharing my thoughts and criticism on the game. 🙃
      For me I think they are doing better considering where the next season is headed with the new king salmonid and special. It’s just new concepts to keep people engaged is what I think will improve the game.

      I wouldn't say 2 was a better game, I would say Splatoon 2 handled the engagement in a more successful way then 3 has. Overall I just think the devs need to focus on adding some things to the game which can impact the scene a little bit. It doesn't have to be some big event either.
