I would like to suggest The Stupendium. They make good songs based around games, tell the story of the game sometimes, and they're full of Easter eggs. The songs may be long but they will Stupify you.

Not only is the soundtrack absolutely phenomenal, but the game is ABSOLUTELY beautiful and amazing. The music is just icing on the cake, it's what makes the game so breathtaking, makes you kinda feel like your in the universe almost. Probably why I almost have 300 hours on it.
All of the songs you listened to were boss fight songs and you can tell a lot about the boss fight itself just from the music. Both Hornet and Mantis Lord's have very agile bosses that have quick attacks. This is shown by them having themes that are very heavily string centered. While with the Radiance, Grimm, and Nightmare King have a more barrage-y attack pattern. There is almost constantly an attack coming at you and they have a very wide arrange of attacks and the orchestral style really shows that. Also Grimm and Nightmare King have the same character as the boss and you can also pick that up very easily from the music.
not to mention the intensity of the mantis lords soundtrack mirrors its difficulty. that fight is one of the hardest in the early game, to the point that it's technically optional.
YES FINALLY!!! All the songs you listened to were boss themes, if you want to listen to more calm tracks I suggest City of Tears and Greenpath, also another good boss theme is Dung Defender. Radiance - Fight God of Dreams. Hornet - Fight nimble Warrior Lady. Grimm - Fight Nightmare ring-leader. Mantis Lords - Fight the Matriarchs of a vicious tribe to earn their respect. Nightmare King - Fight God of Nightmares, who happens to be the circus ring leader you fought earlier.

The pale court is actually my favourite piece of Hollow Knight's ost. Every time I finish the game I play the music and it fits perfectly to end credits.
Just put the entire game soundtrack in the list. Resting Grounds is my favourite with a few others cutting close like Broken Vessel and White Defender sound track. Also, Crystal Peaks because it has the most grooviest jam to it besides the mining and flying bugs around.
From Hollow Knight, I'd also highly reccomend City of Tears and Kingdom's Edge: where all of the songs you've listened to here are frantic, these two songs are far slower, but in a good way. Dirtmouth also fits this nicely too. If you want more boss theme songs, I reccomend Nosk for terror, Soul Sanctum/ Soul Master for a contorted version of City of Tears, and whatever other people also reccomend.
finally. someone giving the nosk theme some recognition I do not care what anyone says. deepnest my beloved. I was having such a good time in deepnest, and nosk was an absolute delight, and it's theme is so fitting for it. notes that just slam down so harshly and sound like something's chasing after you frantically (it is) and then just the background of the song is just people going absolutely wild with that sounds like discordant strings and it sounds like something is scuttling all across the room (it is). not something I'd jam out to but I will occasionally listen to it and remember the terror of nosk

If you do another OST reaction for Hollow Knight, you absolutely *must* listen to Sealed Vessel, Soul Sanctum and Broken Vessel. Of course, everything goes with this game, but really. Low (high) key just do play the game, all the music hits a million times harder that way (Sealed Vessel is a certified tear-jerker after gameplay).
12:08 to 12:22 actually describes the Mantis Lords fight perfectly. Especially if you're fighting the Sisters of Battle variation. It's typically the first fight in the game that has you facing multiple swift-moving bosses at the same time, and it can be super overwhelming for new players.

Loved the video! I'd also like to recommend "City of Tears" and "Pure Vessel". Although City of Tears is an area theme rather than a boss theme, It's still one of my favorite soundtracks and Pure Vessel is a very unique theme compared to other boss themes
1000% you should play Hollow Knight for yourself. Hearing the songs in a vacuum is one thing, but hearing them in the game? With all the beautiful visuals, interesting locations, and amazing opponents? It gives _chills._
I'd love to see you react to more hollow knight. 'City of Tears' and then 'Soul Sanctum', are two great tracks that should be heard back to back. also more of the non-boss tracks will give you a better sense of what the game's soundtrack is usually like - two of my favorites are 'Greenpath & Kingdom's Edge'. Finally, there are several tracks that go together and define kind of a core identity or soul of the game: 'Enter Hallownest' (though i think that was only used for trailers), 'False Knight', 'Hornet', 'Queen's Gardens', 'White Lady', 'White Palace', 'Sealed Vessel', 'Pure Vessel', and of course 'Hollow Knight'. All of those are great, and there's no particular order to them, but 'Sealed Vessel' especially is a must listen track, absolutely stunning, and I'm shocked that it was left out of your initial recommendations.

The song itself holds a story and it's amazing. I'm surpised you didn't check out probably the most popular song: "sealed vessel". It has several sections that are all different and it contains the main leitmotif. Said motif is also used in "broken vessel" track. You should also listen to the beauty of the slower tracks like "city of tears" or "queen's gardens" Another amazing thing is that the game is getting a sequel- hollow knight: silksong. We don't have a release date yet but it's getting really close. The story will take place in another kingdom and you play as an important character from the original that has special abilities and higher mobility. Can't wait to spend hundrends of hours into it when it's out 😁 It's so cool to see the difference between the differnt games with their own genres. They all compliment the games' stories, characters and ideas perfectly and that's one of the countless reasons why I love them so much
I recommend the Spiritfarer soundtrack, it’s a beautiful game about learning how to say goodbye and I cry every time I hear multiple of the songs, it’s *incredibly* underrated and I’d appreciate you showing more people this game, maybe playing it?, it’s really sad and if you complete it it’s about 60 hours long, but now that I’m done with it, I’m too sad to replay it

If you do another I recommend reacting to Sealed Vessel and Nosk. This game has a special, special place in my heart ever since I played it a couple years back. It's one of the few video games that has a strangely somber and dignified feel. Tragically beautiful, I guess. I definitely recommend checking it out.

Grimm's second part of the song is played when the boss (coincidentally called Grimm too ... lmao) does a specific attack. And the crowd behind him becomes crazy, clapping and screaming ! Hence why there's vocals in it ! And just because I can (and if you do another episode), I'd recommand more from these DLCs ! Especially Gods & Glory, Sisters of Battle and Hive Knight :)

i would absolutely love to see you play through hollow knight! i dont have much video game experience, but from what i know, it is fucking phenomenal. a really good, emotional and incredibly thorough story, amazing music, a gorgeous art style, it has so much. it's a pretty long game if you intend to play it properly, but very, very worth it. as for more music reaction, if you plan to do more, i'd recommend listening to some of the more chill tracks that play in normal gameplay, as these are all boss tracks. greenpath, city of tears, and pretty much any of the ones recommended by other hollow knight fans because they know what they're talking about. i really look forward to any possible future hk stuff from you!

This game is an absolute masterpiece, and well worth the time it takes to play it (I'd say an average 1st playthrough is between 10-40 hours, my ongoing one for 112% is around 70 hours) and the game is admittedly very difficult, but oh my god it's so worth it. The ost alone is worth it, but paired with the stunning visuals and heartbreaking plot (so much lore, god so much lore) this is hands down my favorite game of all time. The whole ost is perfect and well worth a listen to but I recommend City of Tears, Sealed Vessel and Soul Sanctum for the next ones! The context for them will be missing without the game play (Sealed Vessel especially won't hit as hard without in-game knowledge) but are still masterpieces on their own.

Your observations about the Mantis Lords was actually fairly accurate. In the game, the Mantis Lords are three sister rulers of the Mantis Tribe, and once the player AKA The Knight defeats them, the Mantis's stop being hostile, and you're allowed to progress into a new zone. Unlike most other bosses, the Mantis Lords boss doesn't trigger automatically after entering the arena, you get a prompt that says "Challenge", and the fight is you proving yourself as their equal. The first phase of the boss is a fight against one of the three sisters, which gets you used to the attack patterns, then the second phase is the other two at the same time, with the same attacks, but it gets a lot more intense. In the Godseeker DLC, there's an option to fight them as the Sisters of Battle, which is all three at once, and it's exactly as exhilarating as it sounds. Also about your comments on the Radiance theme, all I'm going to say is, the sun is angry. At you.
I recommend listening to Your Turn To Die/Kimi ga Shine tracks in the future. Especially the title theme, Madman and our national anthem Prayer (the last one I think has copyright). :>
cellist here-- the reason why i love this soundtrack so much is the willingness to hand off the melody to lower instruments (eg cellos) instead of just sticking with violins brass etc like you see a lot of the time in music (not that thats necessarily bad but i obv have a bias towards cellos). now i dont have much experience with basses unfortunately as the orchestras i have been in are lucky if their entire bass section has two basses, but it sounds as if the lower melodies are handled largely by cellos. again might be wrong but thats what it sounds like to me!

If you do a follow up/part 2, since in this video you covered mainly boss themes, I'd HIGHLY reccomend area themes like Dirtmouth, Greenpath, City of Tears, Soul Sanctum, Reflections, and the kind of bizarre extra: Pale Court. Pretty much all of the other boss themes also slap super hard, I'll just back up the other comments by seconding Sealed Vessel and Broken Vessel at the very least. Love these videos!
Bit late to this, but I adore Hollow Knight and I hope you'll come back and take a listen to some of the area tracks, such as "City of Tears" . I would also love to see you react to Xenoblade Chronicles music, any of the games works, but if I could suggest a few, it would be "You Will Know Our Names", "Gaur Plains - Day", "An Obstacle in Our Path", and "A Tragic Decision" from Xenoblade 1. "Drifting Soul", "You Will Recall Our Names", "Counterattack", and "One Last You" from Xenoblade 2. "Words That Never Reached You", "A Step Away", "Where We Belong", "The Bereaved and Those Left Behind", "Moebius Battle", and "Kaleidoscopic Core" from Xenoblade 3. Obviously, you can choose which ever songs you want, but these listed I believe are a good place to start.

Anything, very much anything in Hollow Knight is absolutely amazing and listening to the entire soundtrack is quite an experience. It IS impressively composed, since the soundtrack has just so much personality and encapsulates the essence of... whatever it is that it's happening, be it meeting a character or the events. Another indie game with an amazing soundtrack is "Chicory: A Colorful Tale", with music by Lena raine. I recommend "Blank Canvas", "A Colorful Tale", "Sips River", and "Wielder Temple". I absolutely guarantee it's going to be amazing.

I'd love you to react to Greenpath next, it is one of my favourites of the whole soundtrack.
Some other hollow knight tracks that would be good to listen to:
Sealed vessel (Theme of a particularly tragic boss fight)
Pale court (Unused track that symbolises the history of the game's setting)
Reflection (Plays in rest spots)
City of Tears (Theme of the ruins of a grand city)
Soul sanctum (Theme of a spooky, sad part of the city of tears)
Pure vessel (Not really sure how to describe this one without spoilers)
The pale court is actually my favourite piece of Hollow Knight's ost. Every time I finish the game I play the music and it fits perfectly to end credits.
Can't be a good sound track without "Truth, Beauty, and Hatred (featuring Zote)"!
Just put the entire game soundtrack in the list. Resting Grounds is my favourite with a few others cutting close like Broken Vessel and White Defender sound track. Also, Crystal Peaks because it has the most grooviest jam to it besides the mining and flying bugs around.

From Hollow Knight, I'd also highly reccomend City of Tears and Kingdom's Edge: where all of the songs you've listened to here are frantic, these two songs are far slower, but in a good way. Dirtmouth also fits this nicely too. If you want more boss theme songs, I reccomend Nosk for terror, Soul Sanctum/ Soul Master for a contorted version of City of Tears, and whatever other people also reccomend.

I do not care what anyone says. deepnest my beloved. I was having such a good time in deepnest, and nosk was an absolute delight, and it's theme is so fitting for it. notes that just slam down so harshly and sound like something's chasing after you frantically (it is) and then just the background of the song is just people going absolutely wild with that sounds like discordant strings and it sounds like something is scuttling all across the room (it is). not something I'd jam out to but I will occasionally listen to it and remember the terror of nosk
I like to add the resting grounds ost for a more chilled experience

If you do another OST reaction for Hollow Knight, you absolutely *must* listen to Sealed Vessel, Soul Sanctum and Broken Vessel. Of course, everything goes with this game, but really. Low (high) key just do play the game, all the music hits a million times harder that way (Sealed Vessel is a certified tear-jerker after gameplay).

12:08 to 12:22 actually describes the Mantis Lords fight perfectly. Especially if you're fighting the Sisters of Battle variation. It's typically the first fight in the game that has you facing multiple swift-moving bosses at the same time, and it can be super overwhelming for new players.
I didn't know you were down to react to this kind of stuff, maybe a bit more orchestral than I've seen you react to? This opens up so many gateways in my mind omg

Loved the video! I'd also like to recommend "City of Tears" and "Pure Vessel". Although City of Tears is an area theme rather than a boss theme, It's still one of my favorite soundtracks and Pure Vessel is a very unique theme compared to other boss themes
1000% you should play Hollow Knight for yourself. Hearing the songs in a vacuum is one thing, but hearing them in the game? With all the beautiful visuals, interesting locations, and amazing opponents? It gives _chills._
I'd love to see you react to more hollow knight. 'City of Tears' and then 'Soul Sanctum', are two great tracks that should be heard back to back. also more of the non-boss tracks will give you a better sense of what the game's soundtrack is usually like - two of my favorites are 'Greenpath & Kingdom's Edge'.
Finally, there are several tracks that go together and define kind of a core identity or soul of the game: 'Enter Hallownest' (though i think that was only used for trailers), 'False Knight', 'Hornet', 'Queen's Gardens', 'White Lady', 'White Palace', 'Sealed Vessel', 'Pure Vessel', and of course 'Hollow Knight'. All of those are great, and there's no particular order to them, but 'Sealed Vessel' especially is a must listen track, absolutely stunning, and I'm shocked that it was left out of your initial recommendations.
I left 'Broken Vessel' out pf the core themes list by mistake, but that one definitely goes in there as well.

Hollow knight music is really unique because it uses a lot of strings and it is very emotional. The song itself holds a story and it's amazing. I'm surpised you didn't check out probably the most popular song: "sealed vessel". It has several sections that are all different and it contains the main leitmotif. Said motif is also used in "broken vessel" track. You should also listen to the beauty of the slower tracks like "city of tears" or "queen's gardens"
Another amazing thing is that the game is getting a sequel- hollow knight: silksong. We don't have a release date yet but it's getting really close. The story will take place in another kingdom and you play as an important character from the original that has special abilities and higher mobility. Can't wait to spend hundrends of hours into it when it's out 😁
It's so cool to see the difference between the differnt games with their own genres. They all compliment the games' stories, characters and ideas perfectly and that's one of the countless reasons why I love them so much
I recommend the Spiritfarer soundtrack, it’s a beautiful game about learning how to say goodbye and I cry every time I hear multiple of the songs, it’s *incredibly* underrated and I’d appreciate you showing more people this game, maybe playing it?, it’s really sad and if you complete it it’s about 60 hours long, but now that I’m done with it, I’m too sad to replay it

This game has a special, special place in my heart ever since I played it a couple years back. It's one of the few video games that has a strangely somber and dignified feel. Tragically beautiful, I guess. I definitely recommend checking it out.

I really want to see a full orchestra perform Hollow Knight tracks live. The pieces are beautiful and deadly at once, especially the boss fights.
Grimm's second part of the song is played when the boss (coincidentally called Grimm too ... lmao) does a specific attack. And the crowd behind him becomes crazy, clapping and screaming ! Hence why there's vocals in it !
And just because I can (and if you do another episode), I'd recommand more from these DLCs ! Especially Gods & Glory, Sisters of Battle and Hive Knight :)
If you listen to more Hollow Knight tracks in the future, my recommendation is "Sealed vessel". I personally think it's the best track in the base game
You're definitely need to listen to more tracks AND play the game itself! Hollow Knight is beautiful in every its aspect, I personally deeply love it. I would recommend Sealed Vessel, Fungal Wastes and Nosk
Also remember that these songs often have to loop- and it's so impressive and cool that they have satisfying endings as well.

i would absolutely love to see you play through hollow knight! i dont have much video game experience, but from what i know, it is fucking phenomenal. a really good, emotional and incredibly thorough story, amazing music, a gorgeous art style, it has so much. it's a pretty long game if you intend to play it properly, but very, very worth it. as for more music reaction, if you plan to do more, i'd recommend listening to some of the more chill tracks that play in normal gameplay, as these are all boss tracks. greenpath, city of tears, and pretty much any of the ones recommended by other hollow knight fans because they know what they're talking about. i really look forward to any possible future hk stuff from you!

This game is an absolute masterpiece, and well worth the time it takes to play it (I'd say an average 1st playthrough is between 10-40 hours, my ongoing one for 112% is around 70 hours) and the game is admittedly very difficult, but oh my god it's so worth it. The ost alone is worth it, but paired with the stunning visuals and heartbreaking plot (so much lore, god so much lore) this is hands down my favorite game of all time.
The whole ost is perfect and well worth a listen to but I recommend City of Tears, Sealed Vessel and Soul Sanctum for the next ones! The context for them will be missing without the game play (Sealed Vessel especially won't hit as hard without in-game knowledge) but are still masterpieces on their own.
The average playthrough can be 10 hours? There’s an achievement for completing it in 10 hours, no-one is doing that first playthrough.

Your observations about the Mantis Lords was actually fairly accurate.
In the game, the Mantis Lords are three sister rulers of the Mantis Tribe, and once the player AKA The Knight defeats them, the Mantis's stop being hostile, and you're allowed to progress into a new zone. Unlike most other bosses, the Mantis Lords boss doesn't trigger automatically after entering the arena, you get a prompt that says "Challenge", and the fight is you proving yourself as their equal.
The first phase of the boss is a fight against one of the three sisters, which gets you used to the attack patterns, then the second phase is the other two at the same time, with the same attacks, but it gets a lot more intense. In the Godseeker DLC, there's an option to fight them as the Sisters of Battle, which is all three at once, and it's exactly as exhilarating as it sounds.
Also about your comments on the Radiance theme, all I'm going to say is, the sun is angry. At you.
I recommend listening to Your Turn To Die/Kimi ga Shine tracks in the future. Especially the title theme, Madman and our national anthem Prayer (the last one I think has copyright). :>

cellist here-- the reason why i love this soundtrack so much is the willingness to hand off the melody to lower instruments (eg cellos) instead of just sticking with violins brass etc like you see a lot of the time in music (not that thats necessarily bad but i obv have a bias towards cellos). now i dont have much experience with basses unfortunately as the orchestras i have been in are lucky if their entire bass section has two basses, but it sounds as if the lower melodies are handled largely by cellos. again might be wrong but thats what it sounds like to me!

If you do a follow up/part 2, since in this video you covered mainly boss themes, I'd HIGHLY reccomend area themes like Dirtmouth, Greenpath, City of Tears, Soul Sanctum, Reflections, and the kind of bizarre extra: Pale Court. Pretty much all of the other boss themes also slap super hard, I'll just back up the other comments by seconding Sealed Vessel and Broken Vessel at the very least. Love these videos!

Bit late to this, but I adore Hollow Knight and I hope you'll come back and take a listen to some of the area tracks, such as "City of Tears" . I would also love to see you react to Xenoblade Chronicles music, any of the games works, but if I could suggest a few, it would be "You Will Know Our Names", "Gaur Plains - Day", "An Obstacle in Our Path", and "A Tragic Decision" from Xenoblade 1. "Drifting Soul", "You Will Recall Our Names", "Counterattack", and "One Last You" from Xenoblade 2. "Words That Never Reached You", "A Step Away", "Where We Belong", "The Bereaved and Those Left Behind", "Moebius Battle", and "Kaleidoscopic Core" from Xenoblade 3. Obviously, you can choose which ever songs you want, but these listed I believe are a good place to start.

Anything, very much anything in Hollow Knight is absolutely amazing and listening to the entire soundtrack is quite an experience. It IS impressively composed, since the soundtrack has just so much personality and encapsulates the essence of... whatever it is that it's happening, be it meeting a character or the events.
Another indie game with an amazing soundtrack is "Chicory: A Colorful Tale", with music by Lena raine. I recommend "Blank Canvas", "A Colorful Tale", "Sips River", and "Wielder Temple". I absolutely guarantee it's going to be amazing.
