I was in management at a large mattress sales co and we had a list of what hotels etc used what mattress etc. Cunard used the highest end mattresses
Interesting 😄
Thanks for watching 👍
"Don't fight over them, people. You're on holiday." SO British that it got a quick laugh out of me!
My wife and I have done a few Cunard cruises and cannot fault any of them, 2 have been on the QM2, we also had a balcony room. From the moment you step on board it is luxury in its finest, from the staterooms, crew, food, service, and entertainment, never a dull moment, would travel with Cunard and in particular on board the QM2 again in a heartbeat.
Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment. We've done many Cunard cruises and they are still up there as one of our most favourite cruise lines. :)
I would pay DOUBLE fare for the simplicity of a printed TV guide. Those were the days ...
yes I agree
Yup
I worked for Cunard for 3 years as a musician in the Queens Room Orchestra. My band was the replacement band, so we'd travel between each of the three Queens for about 3 weeks to 2 months each and give the regular band a vacation while we fill-in, and then move on.
I probably did at least 10 contracts on each ship, but enjoyed the QM2 the most. Not sure I enjoy the NY-7 sea days-Southampton itinerary much as the other two ships but the life on board is the best!
Nice video.
Thanks for sharing your story Jacob. Will you go back on the ships when they set sail again?
@@visitwithus Absolutely. Cant wait until they do. I work for a music agency so I may not go with Cunard again but we'll see where they need musicians! Probably everywhere since everything was disrupted and alot of the less serious musicians probably discontinued pursuing this type of career path :)
See you at sea one day possibly. Excellent reviews by the way. The video quality is great.
Wonderful speaking voice!
Thank you Michel. :)
Wow, brought a tear to my eye......
Especially when you kick the table leg...
Thanks for watching 👍
While there is much to like about the QM2 cabins you should be aware that the large flat screen TVs fixed to the wall transmit virtually as much noise through the wall to the adjacent cabin as they do into your cabin. For 7 days we heard every word on our neighbour's TV from 6 am to 10 pm! Peace and tranquillity ? I don't think so!
Urgh. It’s awful when you’re next to noisy neighbours, especially those who have the tv on CONSTANTLY! Thank you also for watching. We hope you consider subscribing to our little channel. 👍🙂
Love these two well-made videos. Please keep doing more. The voice-overs are great too.
Thank you! And sorry I've taken 7 months to reply! :D
I’m surprised the shower doesn’t have a glass door.
Hello how are you dear
Thanks for watching 👍
Very Good Video, Well filmed. Your voice is very funny. I agree with what you stated about the handles on the cupboards, I also find them to have sharp edges.
Thank you Gary. YES! I forgot to mention the sharpness of the edges of the handles. Very good point!
I hope you do a video on the suites. Also the general price range. Thanks
Loved your video - thanks for creating and sharing. I've never been on a cruise and have just added the QM2 to my bucket list. Will, however, need to do more research and watch more of your videos to get all the important insider tips on how to maximize the travel experience :)
The commentary is quite entertaining... thanks for that :)
Hello Marie how are you. Nice smile. With baby. You are awesome
I absolutely enjoyed your short little video. It was professional, right from the get go. . . light hearted and your narration diction was impeccable.
How easy was that--I'm a fan! Cheers, Darryl
Hi Darryl! Thank you so much for watching and your kind words. I hope you subscribe to our little channel. :)
Thank you VERY much for this! I've been invited on a transatlantic cruise aboard the the QM2 and this is EXACTLY what I needed to get acclimated. As always, your excellent content, detailand insight are very helpful!
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching! :D
great video. we just booked for 2023 crossing same deck balcony cabin 11048 so just ten cabins along with balcony etc so hope its the same!
Thanks Paul. Oh my, you're gonna LOVE it! :D
We will never sail on Cunard again. On our transatlantic crossing in June 2023 our Club dining table partners both had COVID and we were never advised that we were exposed although the ship realized it by day four of the crossing when they were confined to their cabin. Cunard never informed us that we had been exposed or offered to test us. My wife and I subsequently got COVID, which made a mess of our trip to the Netherlands for my son's wedding because we were both too sick to enjoy anything. I complained to Cunard and only received a "too bad you got sick" letter from their HQ. To my way of thinking this demonstrated that Cunard is clearly unconcerned cruise line with the health and safety of its passengers. Besides, the food wasn't all that great either.
Sorry for your poor experience.
Thanks for watching 😊
Very enjoyable 👍 love your style of delivery and gentle humour!
Thank you for watching and your kind comment, Here Now. :)

I thought only the original Queen Mary was haunted, not the QM2?
Last year I slipped in the shower and broke a collarbone. My wife and I will be sailing from New York next year and I was surprised, disappointed not to see a handrail fitted in the shower compartment. It would be unreasonable not to expect the ship to be subject to some pitching - rolling motion during the time of the crossing. Any comments would be appreciated.
Hope you enjoyed your cruise 🚢 ❤️
Thanks for watching 👍
Lovely review. ManyThanks. Have done 3 QM2 cruises including 2 eastbound transatlantic. Booked for a western transatlantic next May .
An experience to be treasured.
Oooh, have a LOVELY time! :D
Great review of the QM2, as well as the other two videos in the series. I was surprised with the Balcony Stateroom review which was 11.068 because we stayed in 11.070 two months earlier on an eastbound NYC-Southampton Atlantic crossing. Great memories.
Thanks for watching Christopher 👍
Technically cruising was invented by Hamburg-America Line in 1900 when they launched the SS “Prinzessin Victoria Luise,” first ever purpose built luxury cruise ship.
Interesting, thank you 😊
And thanks for watching 👍
Never knew that the table could be adjusted. The cabin (11.027) was fine and moved a lot (which I wanted) during our December crossing. Agree that the phone clutters the limited desk space.
Thanks for your comment Jim. Yes, the table adjustment is not obvious! In fact, I don't know how WE stumbled on it! And that phone we never used, but was a total pain using up a lot of the desk space!
Rich, the next time you have a QM2 voyage, even if you are likely to be allocated a higher level stateroom, please consider revisiting this room, if possible, and let us know what has been updated, especially as QM2 has had a very recent update. How many different staterooms have you had on QM2 now? Merry Christmas.
Happy new year to you.
We have only ever sailed in a verandah stateroom on Queen Mary 2 but hope to sail on her again some time in the next year, maybe trying a grills suite next time 🤷 🤞
Thanks for watching 👍
Your voiceover is brilliant! Wish I could hire you 😬
Austin Bounce House Rentals Haha! Thank you so much. 🙂
It's ironic that the ship likes to dwell on the Cunard history, when it's now owned by the tacky American Carnival Cruise Line.
Well, it's the 21st century way I'm afraid. If you're not swallowed up by a giant, you're going to struggle as an indie. :) I hope you consider subscribing as we have so much more to come in 2021! :D
Are there any single cabins?
Yes, 15 were added recently.
Yes there is 👍
Thanks for watching 😊
Worst restroom design ever on the most beautiful ship.
Thanks for watching! Really? I'd be interested to know why. :)
@@visitwithus if you see pictures from other cruise ships, you will understand that this amazing vessel deserves a better interior design.
Started cruising about 9 years ago and have travelled about six times on QM2 plus a couple of times each on Victoria And Elizabeth. QM is our favourite. Managed a Princess Grill on one occasion (Trans Atlantic) but always have similar stateroom to this on other occasions. Cannot fault the ship, crew, comfort, food, entertainment etc. Only issues sometimes are other guests who consider there farts don't smell. If you get my drift!! Off to Hong Kong to pick her up in March for a three week cruise to Dubai.
Or the Americans who refuse to sanitise their hands - and then take bites out of the food in the Kings Grill and put the item back...
What “category” was this cabin? Lower and higher levels look like…..?
It’s a category BB balcony room on deck 11 👍
Thank you for the video. We will be staying in a balcony room on deck 11 when we sail on the QM2.
You're very welcome. Thank you for watching! Don't forget to watch the Dining Guide too! :D
His droll British humor had me in stitches. Doing the QM2 is on my bucket list. It does seem like this cruise caters to the over 50 crowd - I watched a review from a young man who was not exactly enthralled. And of course, there’s also the expectation game. If you’re expecting everything to be jaw-droppingly elegant and tip top, also with unbelievable food, then you’re probably setting yourself up for a bit of a let down.
Well, I agree Mr Penguin. Cunard's reputation goes a bit before them sometimes, even though we absolutely LOVE the three queens, they are not Silversea! :D
this ship is the best
Brilliant review of cabin, made me chuckle....
Thank you so much Marie. 😊
I am so enjoying checking out your videos! I wonder if you’ve considered doing any ranking style videos, perhaps ranking your favorite state rooms, itineraries, ships, or ports of call? It could be a fun way to highlight lots of different experiences in one video. Thank you for all of your hard work and safe travels!
Thank you so much for your kind words. ☺️ Yes, ranking videos are very much in the list but to be sure those videos have integrity and honesty, we were waiting until we’d done a few more ships and more voyages before we have enough experience to actually give our opinion. 🙂
@@visitwithus That makes total sense and hats off to you for that approach! Looking forward to many more great videos from you :)
Oh no, someone actually printed something...........ON PAPER!!!!!!!
I know! Call the police! This is a travesty etc. ;)
if i bring suction cup handle ,i could take s shower
Thanks for watching
Hold up, the table base is chipped, the chair legs chipped, the balcony is rusty and the sealant round the sink was coming away ! expected better from Cunard to be honest.
It's not Cunard it's Carnival. No Cunard left!
dave boydell It still sails and sells tickets as Cunard.
admit it, you can't afford a ticket.
the 1990s called and wants their tv back!!! lol
Haha! Yes, it looks terribly dated! When I turned it on, all that was available was re-runs of Friends and a Prince concert. :D
The room is tiny. I dread to think what the normal room size is
Well, this is a ‘normal’ room. Actually, the size compares quite favourably to other cruise lines. Thank you for watching. We hope you consider subscribing to our little channel. 👍🙂
Great video. Really enjoyed watching!
Shirley Smith Thank you Shirley. 🙂
She's become just another Carnival cruise ship.
werksdesign because she is owned by carnival. dUH.
Ahem ocean liner
We would disagree with you there but everyone’s entitled to their own opinion. Thanks for watching though 👍
Love the commentary 😂
You can by the Sealy Cunard Mattress. Just google it or buy via the Cunard World Club.
Agree those handles are uncomfortable. The blue cushions are pretty and do get removed to the sofa lol
I think more cruise companies should do this. Princess also do an incredible comfortable mattress. Haha! Glad I'm not the only one to relegate the cushions to the sofa! :D
I will be doing a trans Atlantic cruise on this ship in the near future. Must I bring my own sandwiches for food, or can I buy some on board. Also can I buy tea on board. Thank you for your excellent video.
No sandwiches needed! Watch our Dining Guide and you'll see what's included. You can eat sarnies and drink tea all day and night if you wish! Thank you for watching! :)
Thanks for your reply.
@@warnerbeachful You're most welcome. Have a wonderful crossing!
Sorry, but I want printed everything. Printed TV guide, room service menu. I'm tired of screens.
Thanks for watching 👍
Very nice video enjoyed it thoroughly. We have stayed overnight on the Queen Mary in Long Beach California. Would love to sail on the Queen Mary 2, this is part of our bucket list. Is her HomePort still in Southampton? Thank you so much for sharing a wonderful video, sincerely Adventures of David and Aaron
Thanks for your kind words, David and Aaron.Yes, she'll always be homed in Southampton as far as I know as it's the traditional UK to NYC route. When you eventually DO make it on her, you'll be in for a real treat! :D
Although QM2 mostly returns to So’ton, her home port was changed from there to Hamilton, Bermuda a few years ago, for ship registry purposes.
Beautifully presented
Thank you Nicole. :)
Not even close to the luxury people used to expect of staterooms...expect and demand better, people. Remember the luxury of ships like the Olympic?
Those days are over sadly Nette. Well, unless you pay serious dollar for an ultra luxury ship. :)
Such a bland room, you will expect some great accommodations for a ship of this caliber but instead you get this cheap and small cabinetry / decoration. Another big defect in my opinion with this design is that your balcony is away from the water due to the promenade / life boats row. Video is really good though, thanks for the review.
Luis Marcano Thanks for your comments. Some say bland, others say contemporary, others say beautifully minimal. I suppose it’s a matter of taste. The QM2’s staterooms above the promenade deck are set back so yes, you’re right but this is her design as she is an express ocean liner, not a cruise ship. There are even more ‘sheltered balconies’ below the prom deck that don’t suffer the same problem. 🙂
I don't see anything wrong with the room. Its simple without the feeling of busynesd. Simple lines make it a relaxing room. I liked the balcony chairs that can recline a bit.
I like the narrator's voice!
Miranda Brooks Why, Thank you Miranda. Perhaps you’ll consider subscribing? 🙂☺️
I enjoyed your presentation and would certainly enjoy staying in that room. Looks very comfortable and elegant. I subscribed to your channel. Look forward to more reviews!
@@act7733 Thank you so much! Every time we get a new subscriber, it's like getting an unexpected birthday gift. We appreciate every single one.
I need context. Where in the price range is this cabin?
Well, that depends on the time of year, itinerary and class of stateroom. For our stateroom, I'd say the prices are comparable to Celebrity, which is upper mid range over all the cruise lines.
Helen and Richard, cruising’s “Beauty and the Beast.”
James Bolger 🤣🤣🤣
When did 'cabins' become 'staterooms'?
It's all a bit 'potato' 'potarto' if you ask me. Cunard like to call them staterooms. I think it's a nicer word. The word cabin reminds me of a ferry. 😂
Was that Britannia class? Thanks for the tour!
Thanks for watching. Yes, we were travelling Britannia Class. :)
How much does it cost for 2 people to live in one room ?
Thanks for watching 👍
Can't you get a suite, which includes every thing. No extra charges!
It doesn't work like that on Cunard. It's not all inclusive on any level. :)
3:00 Europeans: *Mike Wasowzki Sully face*
😂😂😂
No flexible dining unless you pay ££££ extra.
Not Happy Guys You should Thank God you are Able to Afford such Luxury
Brett Weary We do Brett! We thank Him every single day for His goodness and grace!
Thank you ! Certainly makes me happier in this selection rather than a grill.
Thanks Dave. The Grills have a pretty fanatic following, but like you, I feel this ship is so luxurious throughout, you don't actually need to spend the extra. :)
@@visitwithus If you remember back a few months, we actually had this conversation, now after saying that, I am quietly hoping that Cunard decides to call with a silly offer for a grill suite upgrade, but either way, I cross something off the bucket list so I am happy.
Then of course we have Virgin coming up in 2020 and Ritz-Carlton, which I am honestly excited about.
It does look like a nice cabin but I prefer a larger space. I make two round trip crossings per year and book early so that I can usually get the Queen Mary suite on deck 10. I've never eaten in the Britannia Restaurant but I've been told that the food is on par with the grills but the menu is a bit more restricted. One thing I am absolutely certain of is that the Queen Mary 2 is much more attractive than any other of the newer ships that resemble a barge with a mid rise condominium on it.
❤️❤️
Thank you for watching. I hope you subscribe. :)
how much ?
Well, that depends on the cruise, the time of year, the stateroom you choose and the extras you buy. Such a difficult one to answer! Overall though, Cunard are not the cheapest and I would say they sit in the upper average price range. :)
This is the second video of yours and I must say that out of the many different cruise videos I've seen, yours are remarkably refined and well done. I appreciate how you have separated food and accommodation. The stateroom reminds me of many hotels I've stayed at in the UK, always finding them very homey and warm. The best part about your videos is your commentary and your brilliant voice. Thanks from a Yank!
Aww, thank you so much for your lovely comments. I hope you consider subscribing to our little channel as there is so much more to come. ☺️👍
We've been fortunate enough to sail on QM2 twice, once across the Atlantic. She is our favorite liner. We loved the stateroom, it was more spacious than it looks on the video and yes,,the shower is quite roomy. We never knew the table was adjustable!! Liners sail on salty sea,,salt makes metal go rusty double quick time! Who knew? Some folk would do better to enjoy the experience rather than picking fault at everything.
Thanks for your comment and for watching. You are right - take the experience as a whole, and enjoy every single second. :)
Very disappointing - was expecting a much better room !!
Thanks for your comment Ron. The room is much nicer in real life. :)

Yes it is.
Is this Britannia class?
Yes it is. :) Thank you for watching. I hope you consider subscribing. :)
What a cheap looking room!
Thanks for your comment. It didn't feel cheap. It felt solid and well made. But compared to some other staterooms on other cruise lines, you could say it was a little more 'minimal'. :)
This guy is hilarious.
Can't tell wether this is genuine or sarcasm. OK, I'll choose the former. Thank you! :D
You are truly funny and talented. Enjoyed the video.

Excellent sequel episode. My mum and auntie were on qm2 last year, and said that their balcony had some rust on the floor which I also noticed in your video... wondering what your thoughts were on the general wear and tear of the ship? Does it still seem relatively fresh, or is age starting to show in different parts of the ship?
Thanks Matthew. To be honest, based on our experience, even newer ships struggle to keep the rust from coming through in the nooks and crannies. However, overall the ship looked immaculate. We tend to notice if an area or parts of a ship are getting a bit tatty. I suppose it's the photographer in me lol. I'm happy to say that we didn't see any such areas on QM2. I was really surprised at just how good she looked! :)
Thanks for that... Yes I'm sure your photographers eye would notice! Love your camera work. I'm tossing up whether qm2 or the Elizabeth would be a better ship to go on, as I've never been on board Cunard
@@mattc2094 Oooh, that's a tough one. In our opinion, the Elizabeth is a much more 'homely' and comfortable ship to have a relaxing cruise on. She is beautiful and a great size too (2,000 passengers - small by todays standards), but I'd recommend you try QM2 at least once for the thrill and drama of her. She's just so majestic!
Interesting... I like the interiors of the Elizabeth, the qm2 interiors seems more understated in the lobby and main areas, although this is just going by videos I've seen (hence my praise for your excellent videos) agreed, trying both is probably the answer!
@@mattc2094 Doing both is ALWAYS the answer lol! ;)
Shower curtain, couldn't afford doors.....
To be honest, I don't think they'd be able to squeeze a door in, but I still prefer doors to the dreaded clingy shower curtain! :)
@@visitwithus Been on Queen Mary2 twice the last time the Single Cabin which I enjoyed. What I loved the most is Tea Time which always went 20 minutes early to be near the first by the door. So when they opened took a chair up by the front of the stage. Love the mini sandwiches and those tasty deserts. Loved the dining, disliked the buffet. NCL gave me seven days at sea I always took the New England cruise compared to QM2 5 days. Being a single cruiser hurts the pocket book on all ships. Also on QM2 loved the classical music.
@@danielueblacker9118 Afternoon tea in the Queens Room was always rammed with people and you're right - you have to get there really early to get a good seat. Our 'Ultimate Dining Guide' is our next video, so if you haven't already, please consider subscribing! :D
Visit With Us I was lucky to do a TA crossing in a single cabin in August. They’ve installed lovely glass doors and premium showers too. But it comes at a cost.
Visit With Us On my 7 day TA crossing there were hardly any queues for Afternoon Tea - we went twice with loads of space for more people. I hear that queues build up on shorter voyages for obvious reasons. But it’s a special experience.

nothing special with this room -- missing the state....
We always find the staterooms on all Cunard ships to have a very lovely feel about them, but that’s just our opinion. And I suppose the term stateroom rather than cabin is probably to do with Cunard heritage 🤷♂️
terrible stateroom a little box room for those feraing small spaces and suffering from claustraphoebia, avoid this ship at your peril. plus far too many people
Thanks for your comment, Richard. Believe it or not, this room is actually a lot more spacious than many we have been in on other cruise lines. As for the amount of passengers, at roughly 2800, QM2 is decidedly mid table now. Fancy a ship with 5000 passengers, which is becoming the norm? No, me neither! :)
Too many people is not something that I would consider. The issue for me is the number of people relative to the space available. We once made the mistake of taking a Fred Olsen cruise where most guests raved about the much lower number of guests. The reality was that the ship was small and very over crowded - something that I have never found on any Cunard ship.
Visit With Us Such a polite way of saying bugger off! I'll subscribe if only for the very British tenor of the commentary.
@@garysandiego Haha! Thanks Gary. :)

as i said too small a space too little room ... like a little box, curviness ats all straight and a box. very claustrophioebic. much too much too big a ship. the fred olson ships are never crowded and always good service. thankfully they look like a proper ship rather than these oversized boats that are being made these days. the idea is to have a nice unhurried relaxing cruise and not surrounded bythousands of people. the oibject is to distance oneself from the rabble
