    With tandem lookout, you can just ping yourself or one of their or your creatures to stop drawing cards. It says deals damage to an opponent.

      If I'm not wrong you can ping one of them creatures too to stop it as you're not "attacking the opponent"

    Hi everyone! Here is a bonus to help you out with deckbuilding.
    I included a treasonous ogre in the more expensive deck version as well, it exists for similar reasons to Birgi and Urabrask. Mana generation is huge in decks like this, often you will be limited by mana alone and having that extra red mana on demand is big in any deck, but often will be the difference between winning and losing with our friend Niv.
    Also, I didn't deem it necessary to point out that I included cards like Dockside, Archmage Emeritus, Rhystic Study, Jeska's Will, etc. These are pretty much auto includes with our commander, and I didn't want to waste run time discussing them.
    If you wanted to avoid the overpriced cardboard, you can also check out the budget list, which is linked down below.
    Finally, be sure to check out the new discord! I will be on there and chatting throughout the week if you need anything.
    Thanks everyone for watching!

    The breakdown and reasoning you bring to deckbuilding keeps me coming back to each video. I learn a lot listening to your explanation for additions/cuts even if it's typically not the colours I run. Looking forward to your take on Vrondiss if you ever get around to it like mentioned on your livestream. Appreciate the effort you put into each video and I look forward to more deck tech (Hopefully some Gruul).

      Vrondiss is definitely on the back burner. I have done a few mock ups actually, but I haven't been fully pleased with the deck outcomes. Will keep you posted.

    This makes me want to build a Niv Mizzet Battles deck since his ability lets you flip them over fairly easily.

    have had a cheap ping-focused niv-mizzet deck for a while. It's nice but one thing i'd like to say is that you REALLY need other 'whenever you draw a card' payoffs in addition to Niv. Having payoffs (such as pingers) for casting instants and sorceries is nice but Niv won't be there much of the time and all that wheel and card draw will be useless if you don't also play draw payoffs.
    Aside from Psychosis Crawler, some good ones that don't cost a fortune are Teferi, Timeless pilgrim; The Locust God; Chasm Skulker; Keranos, God of Storms, Alandra, Sky Dreamer; and Ominous Seas.

    Niv-Mizzet Parun is my strongest Commander Deck. And i love him very much, my first Pre Release promo and my start at MTG.

    love the deck and i am playing it for years now. actually i love the idea of bolt bend and i am cutting something for that card 100%. never thought of it even though i run it in mono red or gruul decks. there is one more cards that does something similar. i can't recall the name, but you can look it up. also super budget and since we play a lot of cards to protect niv it might be of interest.
    imperial recruiter seems a great addition in the expensive deck. it can fetch a lot of the cards you might want. combo pieces, dockside, card draw.
    may i recommend my favorite stupid 7 mana creature for this deck. nezahal, primal tide. it is a secondary niv mizzet which you want since the table is going to remove your niv mizzet a lot. last game i had with him , had to cast 2 extra times for the command zone and use a bounce spell on him in order to not cast it for 12 mana... the card is cheap and it is an uncounterable rhystic study a lot of the time. i see you are using glint horn to win. i do too. the no maximum hand size on nezahal is not a problem. you can discard three to active her ability. either you do it to discard your hand or you do it to simple exile nezahal and do discard normally. both ways work.
    also if you want to increase the consistency of the combo, you might want to add the transmute cards available to izzet. both of them target a combo piece. also they are budget. just make sure to remember that they can be activated only on sorcery speed. also they hit remora.
    finally may i recommend some cards that can be played for zero mana in that are not force of will nor force of negation. foil and gush are two favorites of mine that lead to one crazy interaction in a cedh pod 3 years back with people screaming since no one saw it coming. also misdirection does a good impression of force of will in a pinch. snapback is also great, you exile a blue card instead of paying its mana cost to cast it. finally mogg salvage and submerge can be casted for free if an opponent has an island or a mountain respectively.
    i can go on for a lot longer. those are the big ones i remember making me giggle when i first came across them. there is a great cedh discord for niv in which they have a budget cards section in which you can see many of those cards discussed. this is where i came along those gems. you can go nuts on this deck with very little money if you put a lot of interaction in. actually a really nice deck tech. i am happy you are showing more people how great is to be an izzet wizard

    Awesome job dude! I run a “group hug/wheel” deck with niv and I’m always looking out for new tips and decks. Found Ojer Anoxil(spelling?). He’s an all star with any creature that pings, and Wizard class at rank 3 gets insane…
    Thanks for the tips on more counter magic and cutting swift foot boots and any no maximum hand size effects

    Despite how powerful he is, despite being 20 millennia old, despite being resurrected as a magical avatar, despite being a Parun, he is *still* not a plainswalker, or learned to plainswalk and yet his two most loyal companions, both second in rank to him in the guild, one of whom resurrected him *are* plainswalkers... Guess Wizards doesn't want Red/Blue to get a 4th busted plainswalker card.

    I run the niv-mizzet foremind as the back up commander over locust god since locust god is a token creator and I removed all the synergies with tokens after finding I didn’t need them either. Firemind puts you right back on track for your original game plan and can draw a card to start the combo without an instant or sorcery

  • @zPamboli
    @zPamboli 10 месяцев назад +5

    To stop Tandem Lookout you just need to ping a creature and you won't draw cards. You only draw if you damage a player.

    When I first built Niv, Parun, it was a mix of wheels, token creation, and the obvious curiosity combo pieces. It’s been fun, but feels a bit unfocused. I’m tempted to go more spell slinger without the wheels. Problem is my friends already don’t like Playing against Niv lol.

    Hey, just a question, a very noob question.
    Does bident of thassa allow you to do 2 damage per ping instead of 1 when paired with Niv? Drawing 2 cards and pinging 2 life.

    Some fun creatures for this deck I use are the whirlpool creatures from Apocalypse. They all say "etb: shuffle all the cards in your hand into your library and draw that many cards"
    I use these for the situations where i have a hand full of my entire deck and theres 1 or 2 opponents still alive (this happens) so you spend 2 mana to play whirlpool rider and machinegun through your entire deck once again!

    Personally, I prefer Mindsplice Apparatus over Jace's Sanctum.

    • @Tempest-Official
      @Tempest-Official  11 месяцев назад +3

      I love the Apparatus as well! For this deck list, I didn't have a heavy amount of colorless mana requirements, but the scry from the sanctum has paid dividends in my other games.
