the so-called 'dove' awards are a pathetic joke, in God's kingdom, you don't act like the world and give out 'awards' for crap, you give all the praise and glory to God, and continue serving him, and you don't get in front of others, acting sinful, vain, like fools, flaunting the flesh, you don't PERFORM at all, you give all praise and glory to God in God's Way, by the Holy Ghost-New Testment worship is different than Old Testament, no musical instruments, no 'solo' singing, no choirs, God is the audience, not any group of people, the whole 'dove' awards is sin, worldly AND NOT OF GOD.

Besides the great performance by M. W. Smith, it's cool to see the fantastic Tony Palacios from Guardian playing guitar!

sadly, the worship movement took this wonderful artist away from us :(

What do you mean? The worship albums were specialty projects. He still does pop and has released a few pop albums in the last 15 years, the last of which was in 2018 called "A Million Lights". Having said that, he's 65 and hes slowing down in energy as well as his voice not being what it once was. I'm sure going between pop and worship gives him the ability to not only reach more people, but also lets him enjoy a slower side to life.

So the guy is releasing worship music that shouldn’t be a big deal he wants to point people to God let’s not forget who created music not to mention Michael W. Smith. Let’s enjoy what Michael is doing instead of fussing about what he’s not doing.

he still makes amazing songs as an artist!
      he's 66 now.
as @matthewserdynski1699 said, his energy isn't like before, and his voice isn't either.
but his orchestral performances are still so good!
i honestly feel smitty's transition from the 80's to now is so beautiful.
you can see the transition from each album - all the way from Project to Worthy is the Lamb.
of course, i feel bad that we won't get his pop-rock era back in his songs, but i'm still glad for him. he's changed many lives and God's working through him mightily :)
