- Zenith is a make of quality - or was back in the day - in the USA. The Transoceanic was a series of Multi-Band Transistor Sets - The 3000 was the first one with FM and it went from 88 to 108 Mhz, Surprisingly it also has Long Wave which was not used for Broadcast in the USA.
Very little soldering was needed as the transistors are all socketed and also the Dial Light will work independently to the Radio.

US Radios look so well built.
I had my first FM Set when I was still at School remember listening to Police messages it also picked up the ITV sound channel around 98 Mhz.
That is probably the IF of a local TV set. ITV was on Band III so the set was picking up the TV\.....

Good Luck with that ! I have one in a very bad condition ….

If we had used the entire FM Band from the start we could have had far more ILR stations in the 70s and Early 80s and Radio 1 could have been FM from the start. Mind you the Annan commitee stopped Local Radio expansion between 1976 and 1980.
100Mhz was used for PMR - Including the police in the 70s. Ans yes - They are well built and very sensitive....
