Hi, great video! Thanks! I own the same CD-Player, which I really love! Maybe you can give me a hint on an issue I face for a couple of days. When I power on the device it takes almost 5 minutes until the "No Disc" message appears. If thers is a disk in it takes the same time until it recognizes the disk. This happens always after a longer period beeing powered off. I thought of an issue with the laser, but I doubt since the player works perfectly. I opened it and saw, that the typical up and down movement of the laser lens does not occur during the first 5 minutes. (as if the device would need to heat up first 🙂) Any idea? Looking forward to hear from you. Regards
The laser doesn't need to heat up but I bet something in the supporting circuitry does! If you don't have a spot heater then maybe use a hair dryer and heat the board up when the unit is first turned on and see if that heat will expedite the "no disc" message, if it does then you will need to focus that heat on individual areas so you can narrow down what's causing it, but if you have an ESR meter check the capacitors first!
Hi, I have the same CD player, I have the same problem, after connecting via RCA, the sound is distorted, optical output music at the sounds correct, I recently replaced the elny capacitors and the problem still occurs. Could you advise me where the problems ? Thank you.
@@hakannsphn , if you are referring to the red colored one , that is an Elna cap, which was from the factory , the new ones I installed were Panasonic & Sanyo.
Nice. IMO those players have astoundingly good looks. I've got an X-55ES with the fake wood side panels that I don't use very much and will never sell. It looks too good! Works perfectly. It's got a flip down panel at the bottom that runs from under the play bar clear over to the line out control with 13 more buttons! On X55ES the illuminated line out control is remote controllable. Not sure if X33ES does that or not. I have never been able to locate an owner manual for X55ES. Sony doesn't have it on their website and you pretty much need that to understand all the functions the player has. They have a link, but it goes to something different and incorrect. The service manual is available and I have that. My conclusion is that Sony somehow screwed up and never actually published an online edition of the owner manual. Have you ever seen one or know where I could get one? Maybe I could contact Sony directly about that, not sure. It'd probably take forever.
John, I would have looked in the same places you did , Sony & HiFiEngine, if it’s not there then maybe a paper copy is available on eBay. Thank You for watching!
@@luvradios Yeah, I have checked em all, no luck, but operating the deck is no problem. There is a cool peak search function that finds the loudest passage on a CD and repeat plays it. Thanx for the reply!
@@luvradios these ELNA STARGET capacitors may leak and cause path corrosion. it is better to replace them because the cost of subsequent repairs will be higher than replacing them. Look here ruclips.net/video/H483x9v7bAA/видео.html
It looks like your friend gave you some Suncon or Sanyo caps, which are good.
If I recall correctly, Sanyo spun off their capacitor business into Sun.
Great info man, I had no idea Sun use to be Sanyo and I’ve rarely seen bad Sanyo branded caps in old gear.
My lovely band.... RUSH... since Eeightes. Thanjs v much..
Nader, Thank you for watching!

I've just done exactly the same as you and got the same result. I did notice that after a while the crackling would disappear and then come back
what was the brand of the capacitors you changed, it was shining on the camera. :)
Are you referring to the leaky ones or the new ones I put in?
@@luvradiosyes, you just installed it... I think the capacitors you showed after 12 minutes..thank you

I just scanned and uploaded the X55ES user manual to hifiengine :) Enjoy

All this red capacitors ELNA should be replaced
If the capacitors have no signs of leaking or bulging and test perfectly fine with an ESR meter after all this time, why would I replace them?
