It was recorded along with "Let the Music Play" and released in 1983 under Mirage Records! It was sooo good that they produced the video that was released in March of 1984. The original song was a bit darker, but good!

Did it introduce Freestyle music? ....or did it introduce "the future" of Freestyle music? You have to take into account songs like C-Bank's One More Shot, which came out a year before this and that is certainly Freestyle to the core.

Every time I am listening to Freestyle, automatically more than 30 years are decreased in my age... and I still feel the same energy when I was that age in Haiti ( Cavern Disco Kafou, Chez Maguy Mon Repos etc...). I even told my family that if for a reason I would be in coma, after praying THE LORD of the lords for me, make sure they play freestyle musics for me, there should be greatly a positive change in my vital signs and I will be back to life...

Shannon for me is the Queen of Freestyle. This song brought so much energy in the Breakdancing arena like no other. All props goes to her as the Queen of Freestyle.
I can’t say how grateful I am to have grown up in such an awesome era. I used to have all these cassettes at home, floor speakers, and just blast off into the day dreams that was the 80’s… then came the 90’s… born in 1978… just a great time to be alive! Miss those times, that’s when I come to YT blasting tunes from 30+ years ago, crazy!! Imagine having the windows down today in 2022 in a brand new whip blasting this? Well, that sounds like me, IDGAF and I do drive around bumping this and all my favorites. People must think I’m crazy, but you’d be surprised how many people start to look and dance when I stop next to them at a stop light. I guess I’ll never grow up all the way!

They used to play this song a lot when I was growing up. The two songs by Shannon, always gave off this power. Both this song and 'Let the Music Play', two completely different songs, didn't sound anything alike, but the composition was insane. Her sing voice and the hard beats. This was definitely a club song that more than likely had the place jumping.

Exactly four decades later, I'm still listening to this jam, but I had a lot more understanding of the lyrics, "Give Me Tonight/then if you don't want to stay, girl, I'll just forget you" at age >55+ than a teenager who just wanted something to break dance to could have.
The only thing I'll break nowadays is a bone or two if I try what I used to do 40 years ago.

This song is not house, though it was used in a lot of mixes on radio stations in NY....house music is from Chicago.....it has its own distinct sound usually with the strong kick drum beat....Shannon's music is now considered freestyle, even though back in the 80s we did not have labels but just danced to it....
