How to create finger joints for laser cutting using FreeCAD's LCInterlocking module (2020)

  • Aaron demonstrates a workflow to create finger joints for laser-cut parts using FreeCAD's LCInterlocking module.
    1) Model all parts using the PartDesign workbench's sketcher.
    - Create a new body for each distinct piece.
    2) Save these off into a separate file.
    - Adding finger joints using LCInterlocking is a one-way operation and you won't be able to modify your sketches after adding them.
    3) Create a copy of each body using Part - Create simple copy.
    4) Load the copies into LCInterlocking and configure finger tabs.
    5) Export to DXF.

    Thank you for that, however I'm trying to design small buildings for a model railway, if you could point me in the right direction please..
