How to create finger joints for laser cutting using FreeCAD's LCInterlocking module (2020)
Aaron demonstrates a workflow to create finger joints for laser-cut parts using FreeCAD's LCInterlocking module.
1) Model all parts using the PartDesign workbench's sketcher.
- Create a new body for each distinct piece.
2) Save these off into a separate file.
- Adding finger joints using LCInterlocking is a one-way operation and you won't be able to modify your sketches after adding them.
3) Create a copy of each body using Part - Create simple copy.
4) Load the copies into LCInterlocking and configure finger tabs.
5) Export to DXF.
