Wishing you a speedy recovery… While you’re recuperating i’d love you to talk about your practice room. It looks really nice. I’m struggling creating a nice environment to practice as a new banjo player… and also like to hear your input on the pros and cons of wearing a banjo shoulder strap… I took one lesson from a banjo instructor and he advised me not to get a strap, but I’d love to hear your thoughts. I see you using your strap during all your videos….
Thanks for the well wishes. If you saw the rest of the room I record in you would see that I squeeze all of that into a small corner of a room. You don't need much more than a stool, an instrument stand, and a music stand to create a space. Did your instructor give you a reason as to why you shouldn't use a strap? I use one because I do most of my practices standing up. But even while seated, the strap helps keep the banjo where I want it. Otherwise, I would have to support the neck of the banjo with my left hand, and it wouldn't be as free to move up and down the neck.
Sorry to hear, buddy! But you'll be back and better in no time. Question: what is that app you use for backing tracks/metronome? I think you mentioned it in another video but I can't remember which. Thanks!😊
Thanks! I actually practiced last night for the first time in two weeks. The finger seems ok this morning. The app I use is called Strum Machine. It's a paid subscription app, but it's not that much, and in my opinion, it is worth it.

@@2000HoursofBanjo Strum Machine is a very useful app for bluegrass practice. I use it often.
You can continue to sing while driving, practice fretting, or (be a rebel and play mando, or guitar cause you could hold a pick).
