Those cliffside condos were $3M 1000 years ago too! "2 rooms, a desirable spot on the cliff in an upscale neighborhood not far from herds of wild game, with views of the landscape farther than you can launch a spear, air conditioning hasn't been invented yet - so there are nice breezes that keep you cool in that hot weather, convenient foothold carvings that lead right to your front door, plenty of fresh water nearby, excellent schools, well-maintained trails".
The builders had to have had no fear of heights and must have been as nimble as mountain goats to make those climbs up and down daily. I understand the feeling of safety those heights would provide, from everything except crawling critters, but I have to wonder how many fell to their deaths with just one misstep. And maybe there were very few who lived to be seniors and get feeble with age and bodily wear and tear. Great video, and watch your step as you traverse those scary mountain trails and ledges!! We want you around for many more adventures! ❤
Look up Lovelock Cave / Sarah Winnemuca for a story about the giant cannibals that terrorized the indigenous peoples. I’ve always felt the best explanation of why these places were so inaccessible, was to stay safe from these horrible people.
Oh wow! This is an incredible find! Spirals like that were used by extremely ancient peoples as solar calendars. People who had the knowledge of how to read the stars. If you were lucky to be there at an equinox or solstice, and the shadow making structure was still intact, you would see light fall on specific parts of that spiral.
As a kid I lived in SE NC and spent my summers digging in the limestone lake bed of Lake Waccamaw finding sharks teeth both small and huge. The Waccamaw Native Americans lived there for at least 10 thousand years. Lots of fun potsherds arrowheads and I found a stone Ax that I still have today. Love your adventures. Would do the same thing if I could
Your videos are simply excellent!!! Your drone shots are too! I soar with you my new friend. I am bewildered at how could they have lived daily lives there… rocks and ground has to have changed dramatically. Amazing passed civilization. Wonder what will be left of ours? Those people lived in tune with nature.
Wow! That's a once in a lifetime adventure! What an amazing video capture of such an incredible place. At 3:09 across the canyon, is that another dwelling under a large rock roof? I'll watch this one again a few times Thanks!.
That hole with the steel washer was interesting, If some of that was "modern", I can't help wondering if Uranium prospectors in the 40s and 50s made some simple repairs for a temporary shelter while he/they checked the area out...There was a nice "duck" carved in the stone in that upper chamber...
I spotted that as well and thought about the possibility of duck being a local animal in such a place. I have no idea but the duck looked rather cartoon like.
Thank you for doing these. Today I blew snow off the drive twice (major snowstorm), so seeing these videos from where it is mostly warm and sunny is quite helpful. I enjoyed the use of the music along with the shots. Quite peaceful. Restful and calming. Hope you find other appropriate music.
The sun spiral that you found might work like an astronomical clock of some sort. Try to get back on the solstices or equinoxes. It could be like the one atop fajada bute in Chaco Canyon.
This is one of your most interesting videos. In the final 5 minutes of the vid, looks like another large ruin under a huge ledge on the opposite side of the canyon. Did you check it? Thanks for your post, really like your stuff.
As a tall man of over 6 foot and large, I was wondering if the builders of these amazing ruins would be small in stature , able to manoeuvre around tight cliffs. I get scared looking at it on screen
The reason they built in these crazy heights was to escape the other cannibalistic tribes during the climate change that killed off the earlier civilization. Losing a few toddlers was a small price to pay.
Hey Jeff, what a place! I'm mesmerized by this double-door wall, and I find that distinctly T-shaped door on the right very appealing. I understand and respect the fact that you aren't going to disclose the exact location of this treasure although I'd LOVE to check out that spot for myself. What I do dare ask is whether this is in Bears Ears National Monument...?
Wow! Thanks for directing me here after I commented on the video short. This is truly extraordinary - all of it. The drone shots at the end just blew me away! Regarding the cement mortar - does this mean that modern-day archeologists did this to preserve the ruins? I am definitely bookmarking this link. Thanks again!
It's truly amazing this technology to be able to put eyes in the air and go and see things that no one could see before and or only the bravest could see the freeast and the wildest persons , the most inquisitive!! that is at your fingertips,, not only the Drone but also the opportunity to drive out in an automobile! and then hike in and explore! also the video footage is a magic window of shadowmaker. Don't take any of this for granted! none of this existed in the near past this technology.... and now you can step back into time and take a good Peak and share it with others! thank you so much! you are to be commended!! and be safe always:-) I have spoken
Holy cow! There’s something about that spiral. I’ve seen that in Ireland and England in petroglyphs. They’re from the megalith age over there. It’s almost like everybody who was alive back then saw some big huge thing in the sky that was swirling around and they had to keep the record of it for posterity. It’s all the same spiral, check on the Newgrange monument in Ireland.
Ancient or modern, circle with crescent glip at 5:04? You must have flown over to check out that large symmetrical crack at 5:19 upper right corner and again at 5:50.
Hey Trekker!! Your videos are remarkable! I really appreciate EVERYTHING you do to post these amazingly edited and curated adventures!! This is my dream!!! Thank you for sharing yours!!! Big thanks
You scare the crap out of me but I can't look way. Really enjoy your videos thank you so much

All I can say is:
WOW❕❕❕
Thanx for risking your life to share these places with us.
Its truly amazing how those people lived and survived!
I would love to have seen it all!
@@TheTrekPlanner The grooves in the rock are supposedly for arrow straightening, we have them here at the Agua Fria ruins in AZ...
They did need to hide from cannibal attacks.

The large crescent moon shield design and the large zig-zag is fascinating.
That's a solar ship pectaglyph and it proves that this is ancient. The crescent, that is.
@@anewman1 It's either a pictograph (painted) or a petroglyph (carved). Rarely the word 'pictoglyph' is used, a synonym for petroglyph.
Not only are the ruins amazing, but the geology is as well.
How? How in the world did they do that? Absolutely amazing! Thank you for taking us there!
During the 1930's FDR's WPA did restoration work at a number of cliff dwellings and ancestral Puebloan sites.
This was a beautiful find. Thank you for taking me along

Beat me to it! You can see great examples of this at Chaco Canyon.
20,000 year old footprnts found at white sands, NM. Makes you wonder if it was even farther back.
I almost had a heart attack for you on the ledge😳
Me too! 😱

I love it when you edit & use your special camera & show us the various depths & colors of the petroglyphs & pictographs. Thank you.
I love the music 🎶 in the background. Love watching you... except I'm so afraid of heights.
Fascinating! What a trek

Where you were standing it looks like a fault line. Absolutely 😊 beautiful.
Truly an amazing sight. Thank you for sharing it.
It could be someone put in support to keep the ruin from falling over? Awesome that it still exists ❤
Two-door Ruins so brave of you to hike here just for us. I love your content makes me miss Utah. Lived in Kanab off and on till I was 20.
I think you're pretty =D
As always....so interesting and beautiful. You do amazing hikes. Thank you again.
Beautiful video Jeff! Fascinating place!

That's what I was wondering. It certainly looks like it but perhaps a lot later, due to its relatively good state of repair.

I love these videos. Super special
Seeing you in the drone pics makes what your doing look dangerous as well as fun!
Jeff , you are like an older Boy Scout! Love your treks. Used to live in the 4 corners area so can really appreciate what you're all about.
You are braver than me on those steep cliff edges! I hope you are careful when climbing these!
That is so vast, and how in the world did the people carve the pictographs in seemingly impossible places?

Looks very old and bit different. Thanks for the enjoyable video.
There are so many thoughts. This was a normal everyday existence for the native peoples. Mind boggling 🤯! Thank you for sharing. ✌🏼
It’s hard to believe that people built this without machines.
It was extraterrestrials.
How? in the world were you able to go up there - -it's sooo steep! Great photos, footage though + thanks

The drone footage is fascinating. Thx for the vid. ✌🏻
I the music R. Carlos Nakai? It's very meditative and soothing.
I wonder what it was like before all the cliffs eroded over time. I believe most were extended out more in the day for work areas around ruins

Even if that is modern what a labor of love. 😊
You filmed yourself with your drone. How awesome.
4:35 -- The place is totally camouflaged... It took a while for it to be recognised.
Some very dangerous paths you took.
I LOVE the Native flute music! Carlos Nakai?
It's easy to see different water levels over time, these places may have been only accessible by boat during that time.
Wow, and I love the music!
Yes, Awesome video!! The Native American flute music was an Especially nice touch~ you should do that with all your ruins/petroglyphs stuff!
@@bvrfrog The 2nd part of your comment should be addressed to The Trek Planner.
I've been to a bunch of these and I always wondered how they kept the toddlers from falling off the edge? I suspect that they lost a few
The reason they built in these crazy heights was to escape the other cannibalistic tribes during the climate change that killed off the earlier civilization. Losing a few toddlers was a small price to pay.
I’ve always wondered the same thing
They probably put them on a leash/tether of some sort...
Because they drove SUVs.
Holy cwap - I get instant vertigo when you point the camera down. Not sure I can continue watching this one! Doh!
The modern cement was probably used to preserve what’s left of the ruins. Keep it anchored to keep it from sliding off the rock face.
May I ask who is playing the flute. Beautiful music. Fits well with the location. Thank you for sharing your trip with me.

Is the wood left behind in the ruins of such an age that C14 could provide useful information?
This is one reason why at one time I wanted to move to the south west.
The concrete really is a mystery.
Did you see the ruin down below opposite side ?
Ohhhhhh my goodness, Please be careful :-)
Whats the building across the way ? Still in use ?
I noticed what looked like a duck on the wall.😮
Please tell us the elevation of the ruins that you have discovered?
