I got an X360 GH5 controller for free and it was in terrible conditions, your video help me A LOT. Had to resolder the battery case and cleaned the frets for smooth experience. The strum was doubleclicking, but i got fixed by cleaning and lubing the clicky Alp Switches, no need for replace. Thank you mate, you saved me!!
@@sergiojavdiaz Yes I did a couple of months ago, did not do a full diss-assemble, but I could clean the strum bar and bend it a bit slightly. in fact I did this to all my controller guitars and work perfectly again! :D I even sanded down a plate and spray painted it white and its just... super clean
@@kykyC31 mine came off really easy, i should not try to pull it too hard, if you are having trouble try using a screwdriver or a plastic card to separate it little by little, good luck!!
My grandma had a Wii guitar hero guitar from when one of my uncles was a kid in the corner of his room for over a decade. Then I asked him if i could have it so I could restore/clean it and he said yes. So then I took the most dusty guitar hero guitar I’ve ever seen back home. I then bought it into my room and took it apart and somehow a huge bug of some kind got in the guitar. I was both shocked that a bug that big could get inside the guitar and scared of how many years it’s been in there. But I then cleaned the entire thing showed both my uncle and my grandpa and they were surprised to say the least that the guitar could come back from that from that. I did not mean to make this comment so long sry
Not the OP but I had the same issue on my World Tour controller and I used Krud Kutter Degreaser from Home Depot. Used it for similar issues with other items and it works like a dream. Doesn't discolor the plastic either.
I have some VERY small rubber parts (6 in total) that fell out of my guitar when doing a disassembly. I have no idea where they are supposed to go. GH5, x360 controller. The rubber parts are black. 2 are longer, with a notch in the middle. 2 are right angle going LEFT. 2 are right angle going RIGHT. Has anyone else come across these?
not minor but major, the switches in the world tour model suck balls compared to the les paul and the gh5 / band hero one. also the neck seems to be overengineered compared to both les paul and world tour, so honestly i would say the differences make this one of the if not the best GH guitar.
@@mineturte cause i bought a red and white guitar online for a reasonable price. It has the same last 3 digit model numbers (805) as the WT guitar’s. I bought a WT guitar dongle thats why i am wondering lol
Mine the battery connectors had corrosion that needed cleaning but now the necks aren’t working and on the other body strum bar down only detects every 2nd strum
Does anybody know what size Torx screws are in the body 4 on like the neck body when you take off the neck does anybody know? And in where the drumbar is and components are Guitar Hero 5 guitar

My old WT version from Guitar Hero Metallica gave out last night on the strum bar. I might look into this.
Thanks for the video! :D
Did you get it fixed?

6:39 It is so cool that guitar hero controllers use white alps
Do you know how hard it'd be to unsolder these switches and switch them for some linear ones? I think I'd much rather have those instead.
Loved the effect at the begining like used guitar or post apo
now this is a restoration video i can get behind
I NEED to know the painting process and the cans used for it! PLZ! :D
What a great video! Thank you!
That’s some creative work you do man good job, it’s too much for me and plus the supplies seems costly. They make custom face plates for these now
A can of primer, spray paint and a pack of sandpaper is not costly.
This is a nice looking guitar! I've bought one recently! Great video!
i have the same guitar but for the 360, i will try to follow your video for a deep clean later on, thanks!
PLEASE TELL ME IF WÉ CAN ACTUALLY JUST PULL ON IT REAL HARD LIKE HE DID AFTER UNSREWING IT

A picture guide with notes would be helpful.

Nah dude, don't be. It was a good story. I'm glad everything worked out :)
the fret board buttons just stopped responding how do i fix it on my guitar hero 5 controller
nice
Awesome job, dude! :) Thanks!
what sanding sponges / spray paint did you use? and did you re grease the strum bar after washing?
Im wondering what liquid did you use for the strumbar, was regular soap or detergent? Mine is extremely sticky to the fingers, unusable. Thanks

7:25 interesting mine doesn't have that clear rake/pronged part
also the locator/mounts for the strum switch are white on mine, i'm sure there were revisions, at least two haha

Would you say there are a lot of minor changes between this model and the World Tour model?

@@thespooderhomie4481 unsure, most likely not, iirc each guitar only works with it's respective guitar dongle

Not sure if you know of the top of your head but what type of screwdriver do I need to remove the the cover to get to the inside of the guitar
You'll need a T8 screwdriver for exterior screws
t10 inside is look smallee
Is it possible to disconnect the kables that goes to the neckslider keys, without interfering with the normal buttons?
yes
what kind of screwdrivers are you using?
You'll need philips and T10 Torx to take them apart.
It works on ps2 ?
