    Just to clarify, you guys got an offer for advanced entry to Ivey... Either way, that is still big news!

      Thanks so much! To clarify, Salina (me) received an Ivey AEO offer but Sara did not if that better answers your question, that was the only one she did not receive, other than that, we both got offers for all the listed programs! Good luck!

    do you have tips for how to get 90s in English? I’m in the same boat as you guys as I want to go into business, but my English mark is stressing me so much because I can never get anything higher than 85.

      Hey Rachel! Completely understand where you're coming from, we were in the exact same place in grade 11. Our best tips are to seek someone who is good and can provide specific advice for you, look at high achieving examples and the best tip would be to go to your teacher directly and ask for extra practice and have them look over it- they'll be happy to help! Since English is so subjective, there is no one correct answer so as long as you make a decision and can justify it well, you should be good :)

    So i know you mentioned both grade 11 and grade 12 marks, but is there one that universities tend to look at more, like i heard that some universities care more about grade 11, so is there one that I should be focusing more on?

    • @theguotwins
      @theguotwins  2 года назад +3

      Hi Shreya! Ultimately, universities will weigh your grade 12 marks more heavily however, for things such as early admission or marks that don't come out yet when they are making decisions in the second half of your grade 12 year, that is when your grade 11 marks will come in handy. I would say to do as best as you can in both grade 11 and 12 but if your marks in grade 11 are not where you want them to be, I wouldn't stress it too much either. However, with COVID, a lot of universities are starting to look at both grades to make sure there are no large discrepancies between them so again, try to do your best in both and you'll be all good! Good luck!

    hii, I was wondering about how many volunteer hours you did in high school?

    • @theguotwins
      @theguotwins  3 года назад

      Hey Annie! We each did 300+ hours but because none of the scholarships or universities that we applied to care about them, we didn't log many hours and unless you did a significant amount that you want to mention in your supplemental applications, often volunteer hours aren't looked at by universities :) Hope this answers your question!

    Hi, thank you so much for the video! I took a few grade 11 courses in grade 10, and I'm not very proud of the mark I got :( Will these marks be sent to universities when I apply? Tysm!!

    • @theguotwins
      @theguotwins  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hi! It really depends on what the program you want to get into requires, usually, they shouldn't matter (especially for Ontario universities!), but definitely check the uni websites to be sure. For context, for business programs, only grade 12 marks were taken into consideration. Hopefully this helps alleviate any stress you have by a little, applying to uni's can be really stressful 🥰

  • @shreyakarthik999
    @shreyakarthik999 2 года назад +1

    So say if I apply to a university at grade 11 and do not get accepted, would it be possible for me to try again in grade 12 with better grades? And also, how much weightage does extracurriculars have in comparison to grades?

    • @theguotwins
      @theguotwins  2 года назад +1

      hmm if you get all your required grade 12 courses done in grade 11, you may be able to apply (double-check on your university) but I also know some universities don't accept redos for certain grades so for this, also confirm with the uni. For weightage, it depends on your program, usually the ones requiring supplemental applications care and may weight them 50/50 but again, the uni should specify how much weight they give to each, hope this helps!

    hey thanks for the vid. i just wanted ur opinion on this. im an ib certificate student and i have 5 ib subjects and art. the only reason for this is art isnt offered in ib at my school. i have a 6 in bio HL, 7 in chem HL, 5 in english, 6 in history, 6 in math. if i have good ecs and supp app u think i can get in?

    • @theguotwins
      @theguotwins  2 года назад

      hey! We can't say for certain since we're not the admissions team however, IB marks are important but not as much as the converted OSSD (if you're an Ontario student) grades. As you mentioned, if you have good ecs and supp app, you probably stand a good chance. Feel free to check out our other IB videos on our channel :) Good luck and glad you enjoyed the video!

      @@theguotwins thanks so much. i also had a follow up question if you dont mind. Are you certain how they convert ib grades if im not from ontario? I study in alberta so do they convert those ib grades based on ontario standards?

    • @theguotwins
      @theguotwins  2 года назад

      @@yobruh2687 Usually if your ib grades aren't favourable, they'll weigh the converted grades more heavily. Depending on the different provinces, universities will probably convert differently- this should be listed in their IB information section on their website tho!

    Hi, do you know if these programs care if a student has a spare in grade 12?

    • @theguotwins
      @theguotwins  3 года назад +1

      Most likely not, they’ll primarily care about your top 6 grade 12 marks and it shouldn’t matter whether you had a full course load in grade 12 but double check on this specifically on the program websites just to be safe! Thank you for the comment and good luck! Let me know if you have any other questions!
