As a 9th gen Si owner myself, I agree that these are all valid points. For me the rev hang is the one thing that bothers me the most, however I still love to drive it. Great video and the car looks great too!
Maybe name the video “ things i hate about the 9th gen civic that mostly are due to me.” Ur cabin noise is probably mostly dude to ur strut bars and suspension. U want race car parts. Thats what u get.
No. The cabin noise is from Honda cutting cost due to them making an idiotic projection of the market at the time. Something that is well documented. Hence the "facelift" and changes for the '13-'15 models. They easily have 1/2 the road noise, compared to '12's. I also know this for a fact, because I own both a '12 and '15 si.
This is weird to me. I had an 8th gen I loved. I was shocked how low road noise was and how it sucked up road imperfections. I put on kw coil overs and it was even better. What happened with the 9th gen???
I actually just traded in my 12 si (white too :D). I picked it up at 83,500 miles and traded it in at 134,000. I only traded it in cause the engine had started to burn 2 to 3 quarts of oil per 4k miles. Other than that it was an amazing car
Pretty much all the points in the video are pretty spot on. Only two additional points I would make is the seats are very low quality and they tend to fade quickly and the microphone for hands free calling is terrible. Clean 9th gen man. I’m currently an owner of a 2013 si coupe black with about 120k miles
The rev hang is pretty easy to deal with once you get used to it and figure out how much gas to give it while you release the clutch after engaging the next higher gear.
Own an FG3 and an FG4. Road noise sucks at highway speeds in both cars, it really interferes with being able to enjoy music. I have to keep reminding myself that it was worse in the EJ LOL. Still trying to get good smooth shifts with the rev hang in the FG4. I'd love to do a downpipe and exhaust, an intake and some coilovers and flashpro it but I am not mechanically inclined
I have a bone stock 2d 9 gen si I will be selling in a year or 2 I’m 34 now and the new integra in 6 speed might be more my style, I mostly get compliments about my car from teens and early 20s people who drive maxima or Camry, wrx guys and srt guys don’t even acknowledge me, not gonna lie tho, g35 and g37 guys seem to like my car maybe cause they like coupes
@@StayLurking i would be more than happy to trade you straight up. Got 134k and various tasteful goodies and fbo dyno tuned on Hondata. Lol. But nah for real I love your front end and headlights bro
@StayLurking only problem is I don't have the budget to buy a Civic Si. I may just get a Scion TC for cheap, save more money and get a Honda Civic Si in another couple of years.
How much was that tps censor thing? Lol. What I hate about my sedan is, no temp gauge. You’re right about the plastic all around. Lol. I felt like all SI’s should of came with a gps too.
Also wanted to ask, how does the car drive on bad roads? Theres one street with horribly uneven terrain that I cross everyday and I have to slow my civic to 20 mph or else it feels pretty dangerous and scary. Since I lowered the car, im guessing its just too stiff and doesn't absorbs the bumps very well and it rebounds unpredictably. On the same road, I've driven a rented ford fiesta and that thing absorbs the bumps like nothing. I can easily go 40mph and still feel in control. Is that normal for lowered 9th gens?
On bad roads, I feel everything that the car comes into contact with. I dont really feel too safe driving the car more than 15-20mph. But I feel it does come with a lowered car esp. on stiffer suspension.
@@StayLurking Thanks man, this is my first lowered car and just assumed the car would handle better with the stiffer suspension. I'm on Tein coilovers too which is suppose to be good as a DD. Kinda sucks but oh well lol

@@slowka thanks man. It's weird cause I'm not slammed and I have a 2 finger / 1.5 finger gap on all sides. Car is more firm which I don't mind but is bouncy at the same time. Everything you said resonates as a fellow 12’ owner. 5 things I dislike: 1. Headlights get trashed very quickly. Oxidizing occurs very fast compared to other cars. 2. Paint fade, checking, cracking and clear coat failure. Common issue with most 8th and 9th gen civics. There was even a recall for 2012 models. 3. Hard to make power with bolt-ons, even with hondata. 201 - 205 hp to 215 - 220 or so with every bolt-on part. Even E85 would only net around 230-235hp with injector and fuel pump upgrades. 4. Shitty interior. 5. Terrible stock stereo system isn’t even loud at all and sounds like ass at higher volume levels. 6. Transmission is shithouse. Grinds from 1st to 2nd under hard acceleration, even with all supporting transmission mods. 7. Parts are expensive for no reason. 8. Tons of poser kids bought these cars for clout, rather than to build cool race cars. In other words the 9th gen car scene is pretty trash. 10. VTC cam gear failure at low mileage and Chewbacca howl from TOB in trans when letting out of first gear up steep hills. 11. AC system totally sucks, doesn’t blow hard at all and goes out prematurely. 12. Carpet wears out quickly, especially where the foot rests on the driver side floor when throttling the gas predal. 13. Steering wheel and shift knob material wear out fast leaving black pencil eraser shit all over your hands, especially on hot summer days. Oh shit looks like I went way over 5 lol
Most of that list sounds like someone didnt take care of the car. With the exception of the VTC failure. My 2013 has none of those issues.Carpet, paint, interior can all be protected if cared for.And to be specific, the 2012 interior "sucks", they changed it up a bit in 2013+ for the better.Yes I do know the 8th and early 9th gens had paint/clearcoat issues, but most people dont care for tbr paint which exacerbates the crappy paint issues.

The 2012 has thin windshield glass then From 2013 honda used a thicker winsheild to improve cabin noise
Ahh. Didnt know that. 🙌
The rev hang is pretty easy to deal with once you get used to it and figure out how much gas to give it while you release the clutch after engaging the next higher gear.
Got a 2015 Si Coupe...hate the rev hang, clutch delay and unable to turn off hill assist.
2015 Civic don't have TPMS valves. The computer just measures wheel speed to determine if one or more tires could be potentially deflated.
Ahh I see. That is so much easier than replacing every the sensors.
@@StayLurking I guess Honda figured the same thing before changing it. Didn’t realize earlier models had actual sensors.
