So I've EDC'd a Hogue Mini RSK for years, and it's every bit as solid as when I bought it. I was going to splurge and get some aluminum scales for it, then discovered MagnaCut, which despite having not-great edge retention on paper compared to 20CV, still absolutely *destroys* Pete's sessile rope test. I instead opted to go for the Deka, and titanium scales instead of the aluminum. Hogue's value proposition is unmatched in the knife world, as far as I'm concerned. The fact that I can get a MagnaCut blade and titanium scales while spending less than any Benchmade that would have inferior materials is just fantastic. The patent expiring on the AXIS is one of the best things that ever happened to the knife world
Wow that's amazing! So wait were the scales third party? I didn't know they made a titainium version. But yeah I 100% agree if you like mafnacut check out the spl pack knife from Ontario knife company is a great 3" fixed blade pack knife in magnucut for only $125!
@@H20cofilmandphoto2112 yeah, from Flytanium. 104, bringing the total cost to 240, which doesn't buy much at Benchmade. I uh, won't be buying more knives for a while 😁
So you just came across my feed, kind of out of nowhere. This was a really good breakdown of the two. I own the first gen blue Wharncliffe and have been thinking about the magnacut version. SMKW had the blue version for $106 at Christmas, but I was worried about the frn scale change so I didn't grab it. Got a mini bugout in orange instead, but got a killer deal so I don't feel bad ($78 shipped!). The mini bugout's frn had me even more concerned, I love hogue and thought they were messing with a good thing. Glad to see their frn is a step up from benchie's. Anyway, you've got a good presentation, subbed.
Appreciate the feedback and the sub! I try to do my due diligence when reviewing anything. As a small channel, the one upside to the disadvantage of having to buy everything I review with my own money is that everything I review is something I've used extensively. I think that helps the videos. I feel like a lot of bigger channels don't go over personal experience enough, as there being sent new toys to review daily. Thanks again for the sub amd the view! Also 78 bucks for a bugout mini is a great buy! I was lucky enough to get the deka on the 106$ sale if I see it in sale again ill link it to this video.
@@H20cofilmandphoto2112 yeah, it's nice to see someone not phone it in. I have another reviewer I like to watch (Scott Davies), he's big enough now to get some stuff sent to him but he's maintained the objectiveness on his channel. The only problem I see is that as his notoriety increases, the number of things sent to him increases, and that means less and less time to dedicate to each one. I like smaller channels, they tend to be better with the details because, as you mentioned, they're usually buying the things themselves and spending real time with them. Anyway, you're getting close to that 1000 mark, good luck, and keep up the good work.
Makes me laugh because the other 313 people that all watched this understood what I was talking about. I even talk about the partial liner being longer on the second-gen. The fact that I "by habit" said liner "lock" instead of liner was obvious....well to anyone that has 2 brain cells to rub together. Yes it's an able lock and in case you didn't know they use wolf springs at Hogue instead of the thin crappy ones benchmadebuse making their "Able lock" much more reliable than benchmades.
You mean the other 4 people? You called the liner of the knife a liner lock? It's just makes you sound uneducated on knives. Oh well though..don't be mad at me for pointing it out.
@devynmykal4353 it's funny you can't use simple context clues and im uneducated for misspeaking hmm ok that makes sense. lol and no I could care less what some idiot on youtube thinks I've been making knives for over 20 years and I have extensive knowledge furthermore a very large collection, so think what you want your opinion is of zero concern to me. Also by continuing to comment on my video no matter what your usless opinion may be just helps tge algorithm push my videos higher in views so thanks for that and the view! Oh and thanks for the entertainment as well I always enjoy hearing from my fans. Especially the ones that don't have common sense they always comment the most interesting shit.
@@H20cofilmandphoto2112 it sure was pretty obvious what you meant. Cracks me up that someone had to call you out on your accident. You obviously didn’t meant to say”lock”. Idk people are idiots. I too have an extensive collection of knives. And have a ton of knowledge in steels, materials, locks. Maybe that’s why I knew what you meant

Earned yourself a sub brother. Nice video
You have no idea what your talking about do you? That's not a liner lock. They call it an able lock but it's essentially axis or crossbar lock.
