- Turtle beach recon 70 X gaming headset ear muffs replacement and even a fancy fix for a floppy mic even though we all know it's all about the angle of the dangle lmao🤫😂🤣🤔🖖✌️🤘
Cheers for the vid. My sons mic came loose, and there was a rattling inside. Took them apart carefully and screwed mic back in and headset working perfectly again. He only has had the headset for 3 weeks. I expected better from Turtle Beach.
No these are trash there's a reason they're cheap
Tbh a lot of the headphones I've torn down from the good brands to the lower budget turtle beach headphones are all low quality on the inside. The only 1s I've seen with a build quality that's really high is the nuraphones and they were that tuff and strong I had to literally destroy them to open them up.
@@gadgetmadlad6691 I've never heard of nuraphones pc only?
No there high end audiophile 1s, Bluetooth and cable. Think they can be used on anything.
Peel the earpads off, peel the 4 pieces of fabric hiding the clips. You need to push the clip to the outside of the earphones while prying from the outside upwards. U need to get under the grove around the outside to do it
My mic fell of the left side, it didn't fall fall, It still has the little wire connected but when I put it in again, it just pops it out again, so do I have to disassemble like the video is showing or is there any other way to fix this problem? Thanks 👍🏻
You could try sugru that would work as a temporary fix. It's a fast setting putty that can be use on plastics and stuff to partially fix them.
Same thing just happened to mine for no reason
@@WarforgedSentinelOfDespair same
@@gadgetmadlad6691 what’s sugru?
@Alvin 69 sugru is a fast setting putty glue like substance that can be used for repairs, I keep meaning to pick some up for some future video ideas. It's ment to be great for repairs.
I learned the hard way that if you leave the floppy mic for too long,it will come off completely, but stay connected with the wire
That's not good. Hot glue would of probably worked as a temporary fix though.
that happened to me too!
how can i fix that
Same here what a piece of crap
@@gadgetmadlad6691i just used a ton of tape
Man you saved my broke ass from buying a new headset. Great video!
Thanks glad it helped.
My mic popped out and is now dangling with the wire out. It was working for a bit after I put it back in its place but then after a bit it just stopped working. I also shakes the headset and I hear that something is loose on there. I feel like I might just have to buy a new one.
Same
Actually it's just a screw that's lose, I had the exact same problem and I took off the muff and replaced the screw but then I put ot back in place and then the mic wouldn't work but could still hear
Got them for a gift and the kid pulled them both of. This was perfect tutorial. You have definitely a like and a sub
glad it could help
Thanks its appreciated
Thank you sooo mich i had such a problem and you fixed it
Soooo, I did everything you said and now I dint have any sound coming from the earphone with the mic, did I do something wrong?
funniest video ive seen today... and its helpful, thanks AWESOME !
both of my earmuffs were very quiet and so i watched this video thinking it would help me, but i realized that the volume of the headphones were turned down all the way and i didnt noticed until now. i even went to an electronic repair shop to try and get it fixed. well my headphones are working better so win-win i guess.
It’s stupid why they tell you to replace the ear cups for cleanliness but yet the solder the speaker in so if someone pulls to hard they might rip the pads or pull out the wire and not everyone knows how to solder which I see this as a design flaw but yea maybe just me
Lesson learned......just pry it off in the first place....😅🤣😂
there’s this knot that prevent me from taking that brown piece off and its literally impossible to move any advice?
Try pushing it together at the base of the knot maybe a toothpick could help to gently pry the knot open. Hope this helps sorry if knot lol
my ear padd fell off and i cant put it back on cause the slit is way to thin and i just cant fix it
You need to partially remove the plastic cover carefully with a pry tool or something it's only held in with plastic clips once unclipped you should be able to get the ear pad back on and just push through it to make sure the plastic clips click back into place. A bit tricky but definitely doable.
@@gadgetmadlad6691 thanks I finally fixed it after 2 hours
So my ear pads of the recon 70 are torn, are there replacements for that available and should I change them?
Hey I have the recon 200s I think and my mic just randomly popped out I noticed a screw coming from the inside of the speaker to hold the mic? How the hell does this crap happen? And is there an easy way to fix it or do I have to buy a new pair? These are not even a month old
Unfortunately these a built to a very low quality so end up braking. If you can replace them its probably worth trying to fix them 1st to save them from landfill and save you some money in the process. Plus it's good practice. Let me know if you fix them.
So I found the screw that popped out my mic but all the wires are still connected since I didn’t rip out all the wire from the speaker and the blue cable that connects to the pc is also large and hard to unscrew the other screw
Can you please tell me what to do when the mic part is dangaling. It still works but doesnt mute
DUDE SAME 😳
Atm i have no clue because there in a bag somewhere in my flat lol as soon as i get time to dig them out I'll be doing a full teardown and hopfully a successful rebuild. Im even gona try and make them Bluetooth aswell. Iv fell behind coz of Christmas and other stuff . but il have some videos any day now. Watch this space. And thanks for commenting ☺

Just saved me another 30 quid👍👍👍😊
So how do I get into the enclosure without breaking the wires? I don't feel confident about doing it since you seem unable to.
I miss placed them atm. As soon as i can find them I'll do a follow up video. Sorry i couldn't be more helpful
I have a turtle beach stealth 600 and my ear muff is completely loose. It won’t tighten to the headband. What do I do?
Is the screw post or the screw threaded? If it's the screw post you could try adding some glue to the inside the put the screw in place till it dries then remove the screw and Bob's your uncle Sue's you aunty the screw post is pretty much fixed. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.
Can't remove the circuit board on account of the glue and something holding it in from the corner of the topmost screw. Any advice on that? Really appreciate it
If it's just hot glue gun glue it should be fine to just pry it out, be careful not to snag any components.
@@gadgetmadlad6691 Oui mais comment on retire la colle ?
I’ve been trying to RUclips how to fix the mic because it got loose after a while and I can’t mute myself anymore and the mic is just dangling
Literally exactly the same thing that happened to me
@@hezy397 still broken and broke lmao I just mute myself thru party
Same but now mine doesn't even let me talk
Same here man🤦♂️
@@tanneratkins5725 yeah same, mine is now just dangling there unable to speak
Took my boots off to clean them. Dont ever do that. Taking the pieces apart to put it back on is such a pain. Bent up 2 of my plastic pryers. Had to use a metal one.
There are tabs once you take the boot off that help to remove the pieces, but they are so stiff and no room to pry that it hardly helps. Theres 4 tabs covered by a felt rectangle. Thats where ylu want to pry.
Just clean them with it on.
Yo my left earpiece for this headset isn't working, any ideas?
Left speaker stopped working all wires are good and mic still works is it fixable?
If you replace the speaker or both, then yes but it would be an effort to do
When i press the speaker to my ear i can hear it working but won't stay with sound
Might be a loose connection where the wire meets the speaker if thats the case you could re flow the solder on the connection point, that might fix it.
my headset mic part came off can this work for turtle recon 200 becuase my mic came out it still has the wires attacted
I put my mute button up a little too hard and now it's not working when I put it down is it a simple fix?
You would need to open it up with a pry tool or something be careful not to snag the wire to hard in the process. Once open you can assess the damage, you might be lucky enough to have just dis lodged the actual switch but if not that could be a replacement of the actual switch mechanism itself which would definitely require some soldering. Hope this helps and feel free to let me know how it goes .
My mic has come off but it’s still attached to the wire and we can hear something inside the mic if we shake it a small bit. Anyone have any advice on what to do?
Super glue and luck or soldering iron job.
Fabulous Video on the take-apart but....were you going to soder those loose internal wires back onto your headset speaker in another video? I wish to repair my same turtle beach headset with the same "spinning" mini mic boom!
I'm going to do a full teardown and hopefully a successful complete rebuild of them in a few days just need to dig them out first. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.
@@Gary-po6hl Same Here. In the meantime my mic busted turtle gear headset is simply being used as ear phones on my pornhub bedroom TV monitor.
I have the same headset an when I turn my volume dial up or down my right side keeps cutting out an I have to painfully move it just slightly to where I can hear both sides. Any tips or should I just buy a new pair?
Tbh the build quality is pretty bad in these. Unless you're prepared to re wire them which involves some soldering and full disassembly of them. I'd just buy some new 1s. I can recommend some if you want, would need to know your preference between wired and wireless and what your budget is price wise. Happy to help if I can.
Mine did the same eventually, but wasnt like that out of the box. Thought they were a great buy, till that. But its just an annoyance if the volume gets touched. To re adjust it.
Do you know how to re wire pcb? Colours etc
Not off the top of my head sorry, but if you have access to or can get a multi meter you could check for continuity and check Google for the correct pinout of the actual headphone jack itself compare the 2 and you should have the correct answer. Hope this helps let me know how it goes.
@gadget madlad I have a Multimeter but just bought it, still learning
@@garethjones3684 for stuff like this when you're trying to figure out wiring I find drawing a rough diagram in pen or pencil ie rough sketch then using continuity mode on the multi meter can help narrow down the Google search images for comparison. Continuity mode is when both probes beep when in contact. I'm a bit of noob myself iv only just learned how to use it for checking voltage. Just watch other RUclipsrs like tronix fix and the coder and my mate Vince then take either literal note or mental note of key words they use then Google the meaning or watch the how tos that Google recommends via RUclips. Hope this helps and feel free to ask anything else and let me know how your headphones repair goes.
@@gadgetmadlad6691 thanks, will d👍
I got the same headphones but the audio sounds muffled
My floppy mic was so floppy for a couple weeks and stopped working should i buy a new mic or fix it?
@Mastah Tee,Try and fix it. Worse case scenario you can't fix it then just buy a new 1. Its always atleast worth a try.
Can you tell me how to fix my headset it just stopped working yesterday at first only my mic wasn't working and I couldn't talk now today my whole left side of my turtle beach recon 200 is not working the only thing working is the right ear muff and I can't talk and can't hear out of my left ear muff
Probably a loose connection on the inside, if I had to guess I would say that the cable itself has broken away on the inside if you can solder it could possibly be fixed if not Probably better to just replace. If you do know how to solder it should only be 3 maybe 4 wires to do tops so not the hardest thing to do, hope this helps
@@gadgetmadlad6691 what is solder I'm sorry I'm dumb

Where do I need to solder those two wires?
I need that to
Do you know how to fix your mic because mine dosent let me talk
Do not buy recon 70s because I just had a pair of these and they came yesterday and now today the mic piece is falling off. I recommend buying the turtle beach recon 50s those one actually lasts.
Same thing happened to me
How bad would breaking the orange bit be? I really need help. Please and fast.
Without seeing it couldn't say for sure.
But all I can think of is try and use some tweezers or something to push them out of the way while you remove the screws and same when putting them back in. Hope this helps. I'm gonna do another video about them turtle beach headphones in a few days just got to dig them out.
My wires get in the way of taking the orange thing out to get into the mic screw bit. Please reply soon
Same it’s like glued there
Thanks
Please can someone tell me what kind of screwdriver I need for the computer chip and mic
Phillips I think it's a small 1.
I spun the mic on mine around and now it doesnt work. Is there a way to fix it?
Probably not without opening it up.
@@gadgetmadlad6691 can you do a vid on fixing that and opening it up same thing happened to me
As soon as I manage to dig them out I will do a follow up video. There currently packed in a bag in a cupboard full of other similar stuff lol.
My mic has popped out and it’s dangalling by a wire. I’ve just bought it
If youv just bought it I would take it back for an exchange or refund. These headphones are not made to a high quality at all.
How do u get the motherboard out?
If I remember correctly you would need to de solder the wires then remove the Phillips screw or screws and with a little bit of gentle prying it should come loose, remember to take note of where the wires need to be re soldered for re assembly. Try taking a well lit pic on your phone to remember where everything goes.
Hope this helps
Let me know how it goes.
