Way back in 40K Epic I handpainted Commissar Yaricks Rhino and made a custom command squad unit with his Claw arm raised high. I still have it buried in a cardboard box somewhere. My friends bugged me to make one for 40K, and I did, damn that took months to paint. lol

The Rhino APC has proven itself on innumerable battles and wars across the history of the Imperium, and every Space Marine Chapter or Sisters of Battle Order will be incomplete without these reliable transports taking their brave warriors into battles.
One of my fav vehicles of the Astartes. I still mostly play the real ones so rhinos and razorbacks are an old love of mine
Hopefully the imperium can send a few to Ukraine
I don't hate the new vehicles that came with the Primaris, but... There's something almost Tau-like about them, even beyond the anti-grav aspect. You can't beat the old faithful rhinos and their variants. They're not fancy, they've remained mostly unchanged for untold thousands of years because they don't need to be, and they're more iconic than any floating, fancy, poser tank can EVER be. The workhorse, the tip of the spear, and everything in-between. Ave, rhino! We salute you.
I'm late to the party but I'll comment anyway. As someone who started in 2E, I support this message. You are 100% saying what I was thinking.
This video has made me respect the mighty Rhino even more as I was unaware of just how sentient a Rhino’s Machine Spirit could be.
My last battle was against the necron warriors of the nemtk dynasty. Our rhino carried us, our chaplain, and apothecary to the heart of the enemy,she was badly mauled, but she survived! Thank you for being there for us Lady Jenny, our faithful companion.
Brother, as a former cavalry man, you nailed the relationship a soldier develops with his machine.
Way back in 4th my friend’s rhino charged some terminators. They failed the death or glory roll and the rest ran. That rhino chased the whole squad completely off the battlefield.
As an infantryman, the APC has a special, indescribable place in my heart.

APC's, The Rhino, not always a sung hero, but damn it if it is not one of the most versatile designs and MVP's of humanity. And yes watching the Land Raider video is very much recommended.
Fabulous (as we've been spoiled again) I am tbh a nerd for mech armour, so Space Marines, those singular tanks, have always kept me fascinated and of course the various types and styles of the Rhino is right up there. Today I've started reading Eisenhorn, I have all 4 books, and I'm hoping there are a few appearances of Rhinos, all your fault uncle Baldy lol. So thank you, your doing it again, getting us all excited.
imo, the Rino is so good with Space Wolves. Packing 10 Bloodclaws in one is a pretty inexpensive and deadly combo.
One of those things that your opponent HAS to deal with or else take a seriously painful Obsec melee charge early game.
If it weren't for the silly Primaris Transport rule, I could only dream of what it would bring for Assault Intercessors.
I love rhinos. They cost too many points in modern 40k but is still love them.
Ya, for the same points an IG chimera gets better weapons with the only difference being a 3+ WS vs. the chimera’s 4+. I think the cost is mostly for the privilege of being able to transport 10 infantry with 2 wounds and a 3+ save vs. being able to transport 12 infantry with 1 wound and a 5+ save.

@@TeutonicKnight92 they may have been 35 points but heavy bolters could trash them or even normal bolters on rear shots. I used to take them without embarking troops just to eat fire that would otherwise damage a more important pack of grey hunters or wolf guard. For every game they were an asset there was likely 3 they were liabilities.
Im old enough to remember when autocannon fire and assault cannons always wrecked one and heavy bolters usually trashed it as well.
Then again the brown alert when 6 wolf guard with storm shields, jump packs, and frost claw or axe jumped out the back of a razorback often left it forgotten to provide assault cannon fire for a few turns. Back then a single marine was literally as sturdy as a rhino so you had to be exceptionally cautious with their deployment.
I'm a machinest. This resonates deep with me. Because of this video. Right now the RINO is like one of my machines, it reminded me of Bridgeport mill. Because you learn to become one, it's an extension. You work as one. you fail as a one. What you must learn to do is to respect it. Because each one is different. Each one is unique. When you learned to take care of it. As if it's seen more than you will ever know it has seen countless parts of generations.
Im definitely going to check out the new channels. If they are 1/10th of the quality this channel is I’ll love it!

Loved it! Kind of like the Jeep to Americans in the early WW. They had a heroic purpose from birth.
Never leave home without my rhinos, good for keeping your more squishy/ important units... did a 2v2 as salamanders with guard and had a designated rhino for my friends command squad(we agreed we could before hand)... keeping those guys alive tipped the tide in our favour
I remember in the NL trilogy, one NL was going on and on about his most relic rhino and all its glory. And I'm like... dude. I blow up like 5 of those a week. Calm down

It's true, the landraider story ranks amongst the very best and is what I immediately thought of during the intro. IMO better even than Kronans stories and the Chronicles of Tarquinus, great though they are. Only surpassed by the (title-less?) story of the admiral with the psyker "friend". Hope we will hear many more such magnificent in the coming years. Thanks Balders!
I remember my first 40k pack. It was the 2nd Ed starter pack with the Space Marines and Orks. It was my Christmas present and my Nan went into the GW store and got me a Rhino to go with it. (Because the stores weren't *all* about fleecing as much cash as possible from people!)
I got so bored painting those cookie cutter marines and orks. And the gretchin were neverending. But when I opened up my Rhino I'm sure that the hallelujah chorus played. My Night Thunder chapter with their various shades of black and grey with their silver lightning bolt motif worked well with the additional speed provided by the Rhino. Drive in. Drop off, back to base for the next sqad and pew pew! 😁
The Machine God was having a good day when He made the Rhino.

Sanctifying each blessed machine as it is born is a joyous choir of binary and a showering of the purest oils, we then deliver these, such holy gifts from the Omnissiah, unto the Chapters, Orders, and Precincts of our sector with zeal. To breathe the fumes and be grazed by the sparks of their assembly is an honor I rejoice in every cycle, and my brethren and menials alike share in this glory. Emberton may produce more esoteric and glorified machines in it's service to the Imperium, but it is the utility and simplicity of the Rhino that draws my Temple's awe. I do, at times, wonder what each ordained chassis will become upon it's arrival to it's new masters, but I am content in knowing that not a single one shall be wasted, forgotten or hidden away until some purpose can be found for it. All will serve, and all make the Mechanicus proud.

I know you protray yourself as a humble servo skull, but methinks you could also get away with being some ancient tech marine tenderly caressing your machines of war and rambling to the little neophytes and chapter serfs, or in this lore videos case dangerously close to shoving your Inferno pistol down the throat of a battle brother who complained just a bit to loud about being in a rhino the entire campaign

The Rhino is a sturdy and dependable vehicle that has so many uses its just about irreplaceable.
I have always seen the Rhino as back-up, an Infantry Fighting Vehicle. And 1 or 2 storm bolters is nothing to ignore..
My rhino once killed a chaos sorcerer in close combat, I have never been more proud of a model in my life.
The Rhino APC, 40k’s equivalent of the M12 LRV known more commonly as the Warthog. Lightly armed, nippy, reliable and ever present. A vehicle that embodies it’s creators perfectly.
Also it’d be really funny if the Rhino was designed by the emperor in one of his many guises. In that case the Emperor, quite literally, protects.
I do so love the hypocritical nature of machine spirits. The imperium personifying their tanks despite religious laws against it is the most endearing, the most human aspect of them. There is something about humans that makes us do that.

But as w/ most of GW's machinations, @ 4:34; it's mechanically flawed (represented) because of the side doors that pays no mind for or to the suspension. Beyond that, their product is fine. its what gets you in, it's what keeps you alive while you're in there and it is what gets you the hell out of there
the land raider video, I indeed did tear up a bit and thought that what was being described was a fellow soldier up until the reveal of it being the vehicle. the lamndraider being a 'hound of war' perhaps...I woudl compare it to a rottwieler or the doberman. the dog that is fully willing to go toe to toe with anything or anyone that threatens it's family with aggressive response. for me, the rhino is like a english bulldog. they aren't as fast. they aren't as aggressive. but they don't have to be. they hold the line. they stand thier ground and if you test them, and they get ahold of you....good luck trying to get whatever they grab back.
the landraider wants to run in guns blazing, teeth gnashing. it yearns to hunt. to show the the xenos or chaos that we aren't afraid and we'll take the fight to them. it expects the marines and guard to keep up with it.
the Rhino plants it's feet, looks at the enemy, and goes you think you can cross this line or take my cargo? you can test that theory at your earliest convenience. and I promise you it's not going to go how you think. Cause I'm going to bring hell right to your doorstep, and your not getting an inch past me.

I for one and I think I'm not alone. Am in the opinion that the rhino are the work horse of the imperium of man. Also on a side not. How cool would it be for there to be a faction of still living AI to be added. Just a whole world of AI, just biding their time. Waiting for when the organics weaken each other enough to pounce and destroy all.

The rhino is without a doubt the true mvp and workhorse of 40k in both the lore and the game. In the game there’s nothing i hate more than when my opponent unloads his troops and then the rhino sits on the objective because i have to waste shots not only on a rhino, but an empty rhino and if i dont take it out, he’s gonna score points
