You are supposed to use a mascara that is not water based (waterproof ones-they are oil based) to keep your eyelashes curled all day. Non-waterproof mascaras will weigh down your lashes
ok.. this video is about overhyped products which are generally high end.. under normal circumstances products I talk about are 90% drugstore so that's just not a fair comment and one that really gets my goat! People watch one or two videos and say 'oh you're supposed to be BUDGET' blah blah.. of all the videos I've made how often do I mention chanel/ysl/givenchy etc mac and urban decay and the only mid range brands and I ever mention & I have actually reviewed a few Lacura products on my blog!
To help keep my lashes curled, I buy curlers that have a small rubber bit on the bottom, and heat that rubber a little with my hair dryer, then I curl while the mascara is still a bit wet. Yes, it makes the rubber bit messy, but it works, and my lashes stay curled for about 3-4 hours :)
2 things- for your eyelash curler, I've heard it helps to run the curler under hot water or heat it up with a blow drier for a short bit before using it and it helps the curl last longer.
Secondly, I know this sounds SUPER weird, but coconut oil works AMAZING to help damaged hair. I color and straighten my hair, so it felt fried, and I heard about using the oil, and it's AMAZING. So you put the oil all over your hair, sit for half an hour with a shower cap on, then wash/condition as normal.
The Elasticizer tends to work on frizzy, curly, ethnic and especially afro hair. Your hair appears very fine and straight so I can see how it didn't work for you. It basically alters the pH of the hair making it more elastic and manageable. Its a god send for the types of hair I mentioned above.
Koji eyelash curler. They have them in Marukai's Japanese market around 6 dollars. Most curlers make my eyes hurt and tear they also pinch it. But not this one.
I curl it for about 20 seconds close to my eyelids and apply to or three coats of mascara and they last for a long time.
I also let the mascara dry after each application with one final curl that's about 5 to 10 seconds to make sure they're done correctly. I find this works the best.
With curling your eyelashes, no matter what eyelash curler you use, if you then apply a non-water proof mascara, almost always the eyelashes will droop. Non-water proof mascaras are water based, so it's like curling your hair with a curling iron then putting a water-based spray on your hair. Water proof mascaras are oil based, so they hold the curl. It's pretty annoying since I don't usually like wearing waterproof mascara but that's the way it is.
Hope this helped!! :) xx
I don't mean to offend but honestly the only conclusion I can come to is that you haven't watched many of my videos when you suggest that I talk about more budget products. I have a handful of mid range products that I actually use and will talk about but for the most part I do try to keep it drugstore so either you're only watching the videos that feature the mid range or I am completely out of touch with what is classed as a budget product!
from what i've heard, the mascara formula greatly affects your lashes' ability to "hold a curl." generally, wetter formulas don't hold a curl as well. curling after application can help but is more damaging.
I use the bouncy blush, benefit mascara, and Revlon lip butters, and I love them. They are three of my go to products. I found that the mascara is one of the only ones that doesn't smudge off on my brow bone. I use coconut oil to take off my makeup and have no issues with it.
thank you on both counts! the first time I filmed this it was sooooo long, the second half was speedy haha x
It's not just you, but for many people like me, our eye lashes hold a curl. I think it's very similar to whether your hair will hold a curl. You pick an eyelash curler based on your eye shape, so it doesn't pinch your lids. That's really all there is to it.
I have very straight lashes and have found the only curlers that work are heated ones. I have a No7 one that uses AA batteries and it's the only thing that curls my lashes. It is very scary putting something that hot near my eyes though!
Thanks for the useful video. It's good to hear negative reviews as well as positive ones. I really love the lip butters. I have very dry, sensitive skin and have eczema and these are one of the few lipsticks I haven't had a problem with.
I have "rubbish" eyelashes as well but curling my eyelashes before mascara is a necessary step for me, the trick is to find a mascara that holds the curls extremely well so that they do not droop down again, usually a waterproof formula, I personally use covergirl lash blast (waterproof version) for volume and holding on to the curls, then a second coat with lancome definicils for length, it works wonders! :)
Oh, and I tried the Bouncy in shade coral...it blended nicely with a light-med matte bronzed for a fresh "no makeup" look, or a springy dewy look on the apples of my cheeks. It was the color I wanted, honestly, but I'm not disappointed- just diff than I expected :) I agree it would be difficult to layer in a sculpted look. I was only lightly moisturizers and lightly concealed!
maybe try blowdrying the eyelash curlers first? it should kinda crimp your eyelashes so it will last longer :) it worked for me x
OMG, I've wondered the very same thing about eyelash curlers. What's the point?!?! But sooo many people love them, I figured maybe it's just my dysfunctional lashes that are problematic and not the curlers. I also have a Nars multiple and love it. Was contemplating getting the Chanel Bronzer, but was undecided as I said, why fix what's not broken? Well, you just helped me finalize my decision. Nars Multiple it is! :)
yeah I guess that's true.. I see a difference when I've curled them, don't get me wrong it just seems pointless when it doesn't last
Also, I have a lot of issues with nail polishes chipping too....various brands really, nothing really lasts too long. I don't like buying expensive polish because it's not worth it for me and since I'm trying to collect every color possible, I'd rather spend less to buy more. So, my alternative was to find decent top coats. I've tried expensive and cheap, and not much really worked until I used the Revlon Quick Dry Base Coat and the Revlon Extra Life No Chip Top Coat. Those 2 together work AMAZINGLY. Nail polishes that would start chipping within 2 hrs can last me a week or more without any damage...and I'm not always gentle with my nails either (not a girl who minds getting her hands dirty). But through it all, my polish lasts, which is great because I like to do intricate designs and it really sucks when I spend a few hrs on my nails just for it to chip within that day.
The only negatives (nothing can be totally great, right?) is that the top coat takes FOREVER to dry (I'm talking several hours sometimes) and if you're not careful, you can end up messing up your nails even when you think they're dry. My fix for this was to just buy a really cheap, plain top coat and put one thin layer on top just so it will dry correctly. Also, the base coat is STRONG (but that's why it works!). Even if you get the urge to peel your polish off cause it is usually easier to do that than to use polish remover, don't. You'll end up peeling tiny areas of the top layer of your nail. It's not going to physically hurt you, but it's not healthy for your nails.
Anyway, from what I've tried, I still recommend both of these to keep your polish in place longer, you just have to work with them a little.
Hey, Miss Khila, I enjoyed this video a LOT, thank you! My favorite eyelash curling "trick", that I use everyday, sounds kind of similar to using a spoon- take your curler, and curl down the length of the lash, not just at the base, so that you get a "curlier" lash, not just up-turned from the base. And yeah, long-wearing or waterproof mascaras will hold the curl better. I am currently addicted to MAC Studio Fix Lash, and I'm NOT a MAC person, either, but boy, does it work!
I have the same problem with eyelash curlers and happened to pick up waterproof mascara when i went to buy my normal mascara by accident. For some reason the fact that it's waterproof helps them actually stay curled! I notice a difference as soon as i'm using a regular formula - however not as easy to get off! I use cleansing oils and they area a dream :)
i have short asian stick-straight lashes and the ONLY thing that will hold a curl for them is a waterproof mascara. The shu uemura curler is amazing at curling eyelashes without pinching my lids because i have flatter eyes. But no matter what curler i use, my lashes will always droop if i don't use a mascara that's waterproof.
These videos are so funny because people take them so seriously. I was quite clear that these were my own opinions and experiences and that I'm aware lots of people love them.. That's the whole point! They're hyped because they're well loved but they didn't work for me.. I wasn't aware that being unhappy with a lipstick made me a bitter bitch but hey you're equally as entitled to your opinion.. I just wouldn't resort to name calling :)
I bought the Shiseido lash curler (a whopping AU$25) because I read that it was just as good and my cheapie curler just crimped my lashes and I was scared it'd cut them off. So far, I like it! My lashes stay curled though it takes more effort than when I used the cheapie - so I'm happy with it. :) I also have a lip butter in Sugar Plum and I love it. it's MLBB and makes them look awesome! :D
thanks for watching! glad it was helpful and i will be trying the lash tip x
You could try applying the blush before the foundation - sounds odd but it means you can blend them both in nicely and control how much colour you want to show through
My aunt had gotten severe acne since she was 12. Today she’s 37 and only this past year eradicated her acne problems. She learned all about the Acne Executioner (Google it) and it demonstrated to her how to remedy skin problems. She smiles a good deal more, which is really good to witness.
You could curl your lashes after you apply your mascara :). I know its a controversial suggestion (lol) because some say it harms your lashes, some say thats not true because they've been doing it for years and blah, but I know that your lashes do stay curled for longer because there is a base to hold them in place, as oppose to curling them and then making them heavier by applying mascara - if you get what I mean. Hope that helps :)
As far as your pre shampooing cream that you put your shower cap on over your head.. Try taking a hair dryer and blowing over it for a good while to heat it up.. That just might make a huge difference.. When I get my hair permed I have a pre moisturizer on and they wrap my hair with a plastic cap and put me under a bubble drying.. (If you have one of those use that instead of the blow dryer).. Heat it up for about 10-15 minutes or so.. See what it does and let me know!! :) cheri
waterproof mascara can be really great for holding curl. the curler itself won't hold curl for very long for most people, much like how hair rollers won't hold curl for very long. Without heat and product your hair will go back to normal.
I completely agree about eyelash curlers. No matter what I do my eyelashes just don't hold a curl no matter how long I curl them or whether or not I heat it up beforehand. Grr!!
I enjoy it don't get me wrong but today was a bit of a challenge lol. Milo didn't want a nap.. I kept losing chunks of footage.. it's usually a lot less stressful to sit down and talk to a camera haha but thank you x
apparently curling mascaras help hold the curl of your lashes better even if they don't actually curl them itself
I have a few "random" eyelash curlers. My lashes stay curled until they are washed...sounds like it may be just your lashes... :( BUT, I admit they stay curled a little better since I started layering two diff mascaras. I star with a lengthening mascara and go over with a volume waterproof mascara...I've changed brands and it works in any case for me...my fave is the orange one you hate though!! It is the second layer mascara I use and creates great volume for me!! Good luck! Great review!
I can't get enough of my eyelash curlers, bought the cheap ones from superdrug and honestly when I first was using them they didn't do anything, you've just got to get the knack of the angle you grip them at all the way up the lash I can't explain with out showing and yes mine last all day and even noticed one day without mascara my lashes stayed curled the longest they ever looked! xx
okay, i use revlon grow luscious and i usually apply a layer or so, let it dry a little while i apply eyeliner or foundation, then curl, do another layer after that, do another portion of my makeup and rinse and repeat until you love it!
If you heat the eyelash curlers with a hair dryer for a couple of seconds before you use them they act like a curling iron, then use a waterproof mascara (adding water will take the curl out). The curl stays all day!
To get your eyelashes curled all day, heat the curler with a hair dryer. I curl my lashes post mascara with this technique and they last all day. If you use a dry mascara they tend to hold curl better.
wouldn't it be more constructive to say what those products are rather than just try to discredit my opinion? 'Cause that's all it is.. an opinion! We can't all like the same things and I think I was pretty clear about that in the video
he's great.. having lots of fun! she takes him out everyday to playgroups and play areas so it's great for him
thank you!! I'm trying new updos as my hair gets a bit longer.. can't WAIT for it to be long enough for a bun again!
when i use eyelash curlers i use a waterproof mascara because waterproof mascaras are dry based and normal mascaras are water based and the dry based ones hold the curl better and for longer x
I LOVE your hair in this video Khila and this may sound weird, but I can totally see you with a pixie cut. :-)
I don't know if you've tried the Revlon Quick Dry Base Coat, but I really recommend it for making nail polish last longer. I tend to get a week's wear without chipping when I use it, compared to about three days with my old Nails Inc Caviar Base Coat. I'm quite heavy on my hands/nails too. x
I am on my second tube of They're Real...adore it...I find the easiest way to remove it is with either Bioderma ( the best thing that has worked for me) or Neutrogena night calming wipes which i put my lashes in and hold for a few seconds...this does take longer than the Bioderma...love watching these videos...lots of products I totally agree with you on...
Amazing! I agree with everything. I've been trying to repurchase Chanel tan but it's sold out many places in New York. I will try Nars Multiple in Malaysia.
Also- I imagine u dislike Revlon lip butters' wax base. It doesn't moisturize- it forms a film & may prevent drying in dry cold climates. Other lip products with slip ingredients & oils feel lighter and DO moisturize, e.g., Caresse has Argan oil
I feel the same about the Revlon lip butters! I ordered 4 of them online as soon as they arrived in the UK and I've worn each one about twice! I actually find them quite drying in comparison to the L'oreal version as well-like they feel moisturising at first but my lips are all dried out when they wear off x
every time I review skin care I say that.. you cannot assume that what works for one person will work for another but that's the whole point of these videos.. a lot of these products people have told me they love, I'm just saying they didn't work for me
THANK YOU for not sugar-coating
Tip for making any stubborn lashes hold their curl: apply a few seconds of the blow-dryer onto your eyelash curler before curling your lashes. I have stick straight hair and lashes, and this is the only thing that works. Also, less is more when it comes to mascara for holding the curl. Try it out =)
Eugenia honestly I just don't have time for that lol.. when I get ready in the morning we're talking 10 minutes tops while my kids are nagging me for various things, haha
miss budget beauty Then in that case, stick to stuff that makes the most impact with the least amount of effort. It's all about feeling confident and amazing, no matter what you decide to put on. You can save the blow dried eyelash curler for fancy occasions.
miss budget beauty put a tiny first layer of waterproof mascara on before your favorite mascara.
I love how you are so honest and don't give into sponsored videos! Thank you for your opinions, they help me a lot! :D
Try curling your lashes in stages, so down by the rots, the middle and then the rots again if needed. And hold for a good few seconds on each spot. I use the mac curlers and they work fine. Hope it helps :)
if not mistaken you can force the Mac into screen saver mode. I do that with my laptop. its in the system preference section under screen or something. when your mouse hovers over the corner of the screen it'll go to screensaver. but you'll have to set it first.
When you curl your eyelashes you need to curl them as close to the lash line as you can and then let up on it and move the curler a little further away.. curl.. move.. curl.. move.. until you are at the end.. That way you are curling your lashes instead of just crimping them in one spot.. It should last a lot more. Try that.
but maybe I'm wrong if you liked the other two lol.. never know! I like they're real just not enough to deal with the removal and bronze universal is nice but the packaging isn't practical and it's just not so amazing for the money which is more what this video is about.. not that I don't like things more that I expected more because they were so hyped up x
Use a stippling brush to apply cream blush! It goes on so beautifully. I use the elf stippling brush, its cheap and it does the job :)
You need to use a waterproof mascara to hold the curl! I use Maybelline falsies and it's lovely. Also try not to use too many layers because that can straighten out the lashes. So much better applying mascara on curled lashes than straight on. (I have stick straight eyelashes so it's a necessary step for me!)
it's great.. it does lift and volumise my lashes HOWEVER be prepared for the difficulty of taking it off.. it's like you've reapplied waterproof mascara everyday for a week without removing it and then you have to get it off haha. Good for a night out but not every day in my opinion x
I picked up a $2 eyelash curler with a rubber thing on it, works better than any expensive curler ive bought and lasts all day
I am so sure that SIGMA has improved the quality of their brushes since I purchased them. I spent a lot of money before I became a proffesional makeup artist & I was so embarrassed at a photo shoot when I using a SIGMA brush all over the model's face. I'm so happy that SIGMA know has a cult following & they must have improved on the quality but I wont take that chance again. I love real Techniques brushes. You should try to buy brushes from Trade shows if you can. Sorry for sounding negative.
Put a little mascara before curling your lashes, then put the second coat of mascara and you'll see, it works wonders :)
dya know.. I get the most dislikes on these negative videos but I also get the most views.. you can't please everyone but at the end of the day there's a gap in the 'market' for someone that tells you what's not worth your money and hopefully I can fill it lol
I answered your question as you asked it. Had you phrased it differently perhaps you'd have received a different response.
Please understand that it's your choice of words which causes people to react in a manner you believe to be "out of proportion". I don't expect everyone to agree but I don't think that makes me bitter.. IMO :)
Wayne Goss is a super cool make up artist on here, and he does a whole video about how to curl your lashes and keep them that way. I'm with you though, usually, I only curl them if I'm not bothering with makeup at all, and then they seem to stay. I felt the same about the bouncy blush, I just skipped it. I did like the Happy Booster, mostly because of the smell, but I use a light dusting of it on my whole face too. You might like the EOS lip balm..Loved this video, so much fun to watch!
Regarding the eyelash curler: I use maybeline falsies and that keeps my lashes curly. I do not think the problem is with your curler I think it is with your mascara x
seriously.. I would NEVER pay £20 for a lip gloss can we just clarify this???
to make the curl last longer, don't put too much mascara on cus itll weight it down, or put on waterproof. my asian lashes stick straight down, so i need to curl them
Aussie 3 minute miracle thingy works wonders on my hair, but I can never have two bottles in a row, because my hair becomes immune to it so i always need to make a break and go back to it again.
Ohh and when curling once you've clamped them in the curler kinda tilt your hand upwards if that makes sence xxx
with the nail vanishes you say they chip easily :/ hate nail vanishes that chip :( but i noticed that if after the nail vanish has dried you 'cap' it with clear nail vanish it lasts longer..... basically instead of putting clear just on top run the brush along the 'distal edge' (other wise called 'free edge', i think)
think you should give it a go, got nothing to lose right??? best of luck :)
I know so many people love SIGMA & I'm really happy for them. I did end up buying another Sigma brush but to Australia the shipping is not worth it when you add the shipping. I have some Sedona Lace brushes and I love them But I have a huge collection as I've been buying brushes for over a decade. Plus as a pro MUA. I need them & have brushes from so many companies. It's crazy.
thank you!! I do occasionally mention promotions or items I've been sent but since the buyapowa videos that everyone seemed to hate I don't accept money for videos anymore.. fyi I only ever got £20 for the buyapowa stuff anyway haha.. I'm sure people assumed I got 100's x
I love my sigma brushes and here in the uk there aren't a lot of low cost alternatives so even with postage they're a good deal but I think Sedona lace are cheaper and almost as good in my opinion so if they're a better deal I'd suggest those as a like for like kit. I also really like the real technique eye brushes and just today bought the core collection so maybe they will win me over
Oh no, I can't live without an eyelash curler. The Shu Uemura and Shiseido ones work best for me, I've tried inexpensive ones such as ELF and Revlon that pinched my lids - but it depends on the shape of your eyes. Perhaps your lashes are already curly enough for the curlers to make a difference.
As for the lip butters, I don't find them overhyped or sticky at all. Lippmann polishes are definitely not worth it though, Revlon always makes dupes for 1/6 the price.
I find that putting a little mascara on before you curl your lashes seems to make it stick longer. I have to disagree with the Revlon lip butters though! I see where you're coming from in that the name doesn't really live up to the type of product. It is a bit more glossy and sticky than you would expect from a lip butter, but personally I find it really comfortable to wear and really moisturusing. We'll see the real outcome in the winter time though :p hope you're well xx
I like the fact that the they're real mascara stays on my lashes! Thats what I like a bout it!
thank you for watching xxx
Not just you haha I've been using that same curler for three years and that's the only on my mom uses and I just think its just my eyelashes. Because when I curl my hair, no matter if I put hairspray it will not stay. Good video!
kind of sad that alot of people say some product isnt good just because they dont like the color, the fact that its too light or dark is theyr mistake not the barnd's
I'm hating it right now, it's turned so oily! but it's in great condition.. just super shiny all the time :( thank you though x
You're SO right about the Chanel bronzer, it's so hyped on YT but yet I hardly see it actually used in tutorials lol. I almost think girls buy it just to have it in their collection but not use it!
And I agree about those Deborah Lippmann polishes, they are way overpriced! The packaging isn't even enticing, get Happy Birthday and call it a day lol
i think the bouncy blushes are just nice to play with and thats it
Thank you for the video. I too have not been very impressed with the Physician's Formula Happy Booster line. Lovely packaging but absolutely no pigmentation. I keep trying to love it though. I've actually liked the lip butters by Revlon, but I also like the Caresse by L'Oreal. I think that is what that line is called. They are super silky, but the colors do not show on me very well because I have very read lips naturally.
i want to try a more neutral and see if i prefer it but I'm just not a huge fan of the formula
I agree with the lash curler thing. I have yet to find one that will keep the curl. As for a good top coat I swear by China Glaze No-Chip Top Coat. I seriously wash my hands over 100 times a day due to my job and this top coat has increased the life of my manicure.
completely agree with you on the benefit they're real. i love, love, loved the badgal lash one and tried that and was so disappointed with it. since you recommended the l'oreal one i've used and repurchased it so many times, it's amazing. thank you!
Agree on the bouncy blush and lip butter! I much prefer the L'oreal rouge caresse which are actually moisturising and last colour-wise. :)
I should have waited till the end of this video. I was so excited to see someone say something negative about that Chanel product. Again, thanks again as in Australia, we pay so much for cosmetics, Its so nice to hear the truth instead of raves. I bought SIGMA brushes years ago & I've thrown most of them out. I think that they have improved but I refuse to buy them when there's so many other brushes on the market that are much better. Shipping is too much. I will also include the UD Naked P.
Try putting on polish remover to the beds of ur nails then letting it dry the remover also removes all the oils from the nail beds I do this each time I polish my nails and have found the polish doesn't chip as much from this simple step
The new Le Volume De Chanel is the best mascara I have ever used. I agree I hate the cover girl mascaras they are junk! The best hair products I have ever used are from the Volume Line from Clear it is the best drug store hair brand. If you are looking for a good lip product try the fresh sugar lip treatment. Its amazing I find that I like the clear better than the colors.
Was literally just about to nip out and buy that conditioner on my lunch, so happy I watched this now! I LOVE the chanel bronzer, I use it every single day without fail. Completely agree with you about the Revlon Lip Butters. I bought 4 and sold or gave away all of them. Just not my cup of tea. Your hair looks fab in this video :-)
I actually curl my lashes only on special nights..and I use a spoon!! Most of the curler scares me and I think they will break my lashes..try to put a tea spoon in the fridge then use the "bump" side to curl your lashes after a couple of coats of mascara..et volia!!
shes helping people? some people wouldnt use the product if it isnt good so its a waste of money. shes helping people get good products and help them not waste money on products.
Im glad someone finally put the 3 minute miracle in these! Gee, its just like a regular moistirizer!
Apparently curled eye lashes stay curled longer, if you apply waterproof mascara instead of a regular mascara. But I can't tell. Whenever I curl my lashes they look stupid and even shorter than they are! SO weird. Don't get the point. Maybe, it's because I have a medium curl to my lashes naturally - no idea!
oh i love love love the nars and it's great for travel! I dug it out last week and have been using it a lot, I layer my bronzer now in the hope it might last longer x
I love the Revlon lip butters over the Revlon lip stain. I have both bright reds and use them all the time to perk up my stain.
I looked through all of my video options for today, saw yours and thought...Yes!! I am watching your video playing a quick Facebook game and then doing some homework!!. Thanks for the video!! You make the time after work really enjoyable!!
haha it's essie navigate her! available on fragrance direct at the moment for just 1.99 so get your skates on! my lashes are rubbish and they're real IS better than the loreal but just day to day it's not enough to want to scrub at my eyes. I'd wear it on a night out x
Khila, always use waterproof mascara to preserve a curl as normal mascaras are water based and putting water on curls(like your hair) makes it drop!!
