Fun Fact: While they're not the exact same in tone, Adam West's last appearance as Batman in live action was in the 1979 Legends of the Superheroes TV specials, so he's probably a better fit as they were technically contemporaries.
I'll be honest, I prefer the darker variant; it captures a 90s vibe reminiscent of what a film featuring him alongside Keaton's Batman would look like. When placed together, they complement each other beautifully.
Funny that I got the preorder at Best Buy about a week in advance of McFarlane's which is where I preordered first. I was hoping BB ship me the chase but no luck this time. I have to say this Reeve Superman is up there as one of my favorites from McFarlane this year. Likeness could be better but the body, paint, cape, and accessories are good. Christopher Reeve was a tall and lean Superman and they got it right unlike with Cavill. Agree on the wrists. His suit sleeves does not cover the wrists at all. Minor nitpick. The other would be a lack of smiling head. We need that to complete his look. I think he's a better fit with Adam West. Size, campy, bright colors and all. Throw in Lynda Carter and that era of trinity is complete.
I definitely say Michael Keaton Batman would be best with Christopher Reeves Superman. And I got to say I love this Superman figure so much I'm so happy to have it in my collection.
Wow thanks for reading the package for us! Well done never would have guessed it said superman and ages 12+ and you even told us it was a mcfarlane toy! You're good! Lol
@ I like nuclear man. For some reason remembering watching as a kid I thought it was Dolph Lungren who played him. I guess since he was big star in one of the Rocky movies and he was HeMan.
I've got mine on order from Amazon, while I hope it's the regular version I do still want to pick up the platinum variant at some point, hopefully for a reasonable price. As for which Batman goes with Reeve, is has to be Keaton. Personally I always pictured West's Superman being George Reeves, seems like the better fit to me. I do hope we get a George Reeves Superman somewhere down the live (an easy variant for McFarlane would be to have a black & white version as the chase), and I'm also hopeful for a Lynda Carter Wonder Woman at some stage too.
Totally agree with how you think between 60s Bats, 70s Supes and 80s Bats. Reeve is exactly in the middle. I used to have Hot Toys Reeve Superman and Keaton Batman. Proportion-wise, they look great. But Aesthetics-wise, Keaton was too modern for Reeve.
I've ordered one. The Neca does look like a more true life rendition, but 100% agree the Mcfarlane is the better action figure. Price wise its the more affordable one too. Would also love a Margot Kidder Lois Lane. Can't believe it hasn't been done yet.
Oh! If you want an easy custom Lex Luthor: Diamond Select Star Trek DS9 Miles O'Brien head on a Diamond Select Westworld Dr. Robert Ford body. From what I understand, Gene Hackman's likeness is difficult to get and Mattel only managed to once for a high end doll. Actor Colm Meaney looks similar, particularly in an old timey suit.
@ Not yet. I've seen the Miles O'Brien head used but I foolishly didn't save the pics or remember what body they used. Glancing around, Marvel Legends Tombstone has a similar style peg.
I think the McFarlane Christopher Reeve Superman would go well with my Neca figures of Rocky and Ivan drago, Rambo, terminator, commando, Dutch from predator, blade runner action figures, ash Williams from evil dead, Kurt Russell figures from the thing and escape from New York, back to the future figures of Marty, doc and biff, Michael Keaton Batman, Peter Weller Robocop, etc. And my diamond select John wick figures and my McFarlane bloodshot and John Constantine figures too.
The Page Punchers Superman 78 has completely different arms and hair. Maybe a different ab section. I think the forearms from Page Punchers and abs are the Crisis Earth-2.

There needs to be alot less shilling and kissing ass and more ...hey ...do it right
Bale will always be my Batman. I never cared for the 1989 movie too much and the 60s show was WELLLL before my time. Wanna see this Superman next to the upcoming Batman Begins fig!
I found 5 Reeves Platinums at one Walmart and one regular version a couple days ago, so theyre showing up there as well as Best Buy. I saw the Page Punchers version at Gamestop. Did you not include the False God and Gold Superman figures in your huge compilation picture because theyre supposed to represent statues. Instead of the actual character? I saw False God in one of the more specialized pictures and Task Force (although I guess he counts as a recent Superman figure like you mentioned). I didnt see the gold statue at all. Thanks for including those pics. Those are good visual checklists.
It would be nice if a double pack appeared again in which Kent would be clearly dressed in the original costume from how he was dressed in the movie and this Superman figure, just as classic or I don't know.
I agree 100% neca is probably the best representation of reeves superman but mcfarlane is the best action figure.there really isn't that big of a quality difference between them mcfarlane did a really good job on this one. There's room for both in my collection
I think the nose on Neca and Mezco are more accurate to what he nose looked like, apart from that, the paint job in the eyes and the upper right part of the lips, I believe McFarlane is superior. Although I changed my mind in a lot of figures after seeing them in hands, for example, I ended up coming to the conclusion that the head sculpt of Batman from the Knightfall two pack is not as bad I thought it was by just looking at videos and promo shots.
Page Punchers Reeve has totally different arms and upper chest and neck than this CE version. I think Page Punchers Reeve is actually a Frankenstein of this all-new CE Reeve Superman + the arms and neck of the Crisis body. Have no idea why they went that route when they could've just repainted the CE version.
I thnk NECA nailed the head sculpt but since that figure is unfortunately plagued by QC issues with the brittle plastic the McFarlane figure is just an over all better figure, though on my display shelf the NECA Keaton Batman and Chris Reeve Superman scale better with the rest of the heroes McFarlane, NECA and even SOTA made for all these years. The new McFarlane stuff is just too tall.
@@dHuntersReviews Agreed. I still want one of the McFarlane 78 Superman though because the new single release of the 89 Batman looks killer and I want them displayed together. What I wouldn't give for a Nicholson Joker from either company though XD
Not a big fan of the shininess of the suit, looks cheap. Proportions are also pretty wonky with the chest section looking too short and legs slightly too long. $30 is just too much for this figure, I see it as $22 value at the most. neca one has a better likeness, sculpt and paint so I prefer that one. Only thing this one has over it is articulation and a wire in the cape so I’ll pass
