Good job. Great video. Very good coaching. Great follow up to this that would help me is how to aim to those targets. Chest, shoulders, feet, hips, and how the target moves in our eyes as we approach the foul line and what to do about that, i.e. how the target drifts to the right (for right hander) as we approach the foul line and how to compensate for that natural target drift from physics 👍🏾
Over the years I have gravitated to the down-lane target, usually around the 9-10 board area, 40-45 feet down the lane. I've tried using the arrows but am not consistent there. Not sure why but once I went to the down-lane target my scores quickly improved. Using the arrows, I was averaging around 160. Using the down-lane target I am averaging upper 190s. In practice, where I can bowl a little faster, I am averaging 218. The bottom line in bowling is to work with what you have and make the most of it. Loved watching Choogs bowl on TV. YT has many PBA tournament videos, where he and other great pro bowlers can demonstrate their amazing skills. I usually watch 3-4 of these videos each week and take my style cues from the best bowlers from the 1970s through today. Haven't tried the 2-handed style of bowling but may try it out in practice sometime.
Excellent demonstration and explanation. Thanks as usual gentlemen. I have always been one to keep my game and thought simple. I truly appreciate you.🤙🏿🤙🏿💯💯
Always enjoy Chuga videos! I have not been focusing on the down lane target area lately, it could explain my lack of carry. I will work on it. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for how you explained and demonstrated targeting in this video. I'm relatively new to bowling (started six months ago), and while I read about three-point targeting early on, it was just a little too much for me when I was new, so I focused on two things - where I slide and the target at the arrows. I think it's time I started looking down lane at the break point as well. I'll try that the next time I practise.
Love Choogs. One of my all time favorites. Could you make a video with Choogs on spare shooting? He was a great spare shooter on tour and I would love to get some insight into what he learned under the mentorship of Norm Duke and Brian Voss. Like Norm, he would use reactive for his spares instead of plastic which is something that I really like and try to do as well.
My center does not have those markers down lane is there a way to know where they are without seeing them would it be in front of a certain pin maybe ?
Mine has them, but I can barely see them as they're just slightly darker than the rest of the lane. Someone is welcome to correct me, but I'm pretty sure the outer most down lane marker lines up between the 6 and 10 pin (7-4 for lefties). So, I'd say using the 3, 6 , or 10 pin as a down lane reference depending on style and pattern length.
Would've liked more on his last comment. How to know how much to change gour angle depending on what the environment is showing you. For example, if im a low speed medium rev two handed lefty leaving stone 7 multiple times whats the angle /board move. Or my light mixer is leaving the 6-10, how many boards left is ny move etc
Remember that the angles you see when you start on the approach are DIFFERENT than what you will end up with at the foul line. The farther back you start, the bigger the difference.
The straight approach is good when the lanes are freshly oiled and there's plenty of oil on the edge of the lane to keep the ball on line. The more down and in approach is necessary when oil on the side has burned up and you need to move left to find oil to get the ball to the break point without hooking early.
Thank you for the tips.
More Choogs videos, please. Love his game.
I tried this out today in the Sr league. It works...when I hit my mark.

I needed this. I'm going to practice this today.

Go watch this one. One of the most impressive bowling displays on film.

Great video. All hail the Choogs! Good to see you back on the channel, and thank you both =)

6 pin, if there is no down lane markers.
Any tip on how to reach that 6-7-8 board down the lane. My ball turns too soon. Especially moving left.

Choogs keeping in great shape

@@SomeGuyTHPS thanks
Aim with 2 hands. 😂
Loved it when Mike did the flop in Omaha years ago!!
Yes, that was a classic case of putting everything he had into that shot. lol
